New Years Camping Escape!

Secluded Retreat
This was our second time staying on Vinny and Donna's property. We loved it just as much as the first time and are sad we spent more time away hiking than hanging out around the campsite. My son loves being able to run around and play in the open as well as our pups. We will likely be back!

We enjoyed our weekend camping at Secluded Retreat! It was very peaceful and enjoyed watching the deer come into the field in the evening. Directions were great and easy access to the campsite.

We had a wonderful time here. The spot was perfect for getting away and relaxing in nature. The land is gorgeous! We saw dozens of deer every day. The trails through the property were wonderful. My favorite part of the trail was when it led through a thicket of mountain laurels. There was ton of firewood and a beautiful fire pit area.
As someone who’s been camping my entire life, this was a great spot!

Beautiful spot. Every evening there was a buck and 11 doe that came down from the mountain right in front of our camper.
Full hookups, everything worked.
Only downside is with a 1ton duality w/8’bed and 31’ camper it took some concentration getting in and out of the site

This was our second visit to Secluded Retreat, it was wonderful. We had the opportunity to talk with Donna, such a wonderful host. The land is beautiful, peaceful, and private. We enjoyed the fall colors, walking the trail, watching the wildlife (soooooo many deer) and resting by a relaxing campfire. The fall weather was perfect! We are already planning our return visit to Secluded Retreat!!!!! Thanks to Donna and Vinny for sharing this wonderful place!!!!

I wish I could have stayed longer, this was a great spot! Quiet and secluded with plenty of space and full hookups, what else could you want? It is close to several small towns like Mt. Airy or Fancy Gap for touring and nature along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The site was incredibly beautiful. Went to sleep looking at the stars and listening to the sounds of nature. Woke up to several deer in the field. I cannot say enough nice things about this location.

We had a great experience, truly secluded site and very well maintained. Our dog had a great time running around and exploring. Donna stopped by on the last morning we were there and she was so sweet, even gave us some squash from the garden. We will definitely be back.

This place is about as secluded as you can get. Absolute peace. I was greeted by deer upon arrival, and didn't see a soul or hear another human sound, with the exception of a distant plane. If you want to meditate, this is the place. My only wish is that there is a 30 amp hookup, but I did get basic electric service with a converter. I wish I could stay longer!

The property was actually more beautiful than expected.
There is a nice trail on the property leading up the hill through the woods, along with a huge green grass area. Much of our time was spent sitting back taking in the sounds of the birds and the view of the peaceful surroundings.
Our dogs were in heaven being able to run full speed and far off-leash, which is a treat they rarely get to experience. (Just be aware of the mud under the spring water at the bottom of the hill by the garden.)
Evenings included visits by deer, sunsets, fireflies and then star gazing!!
Even in late July, morning and evening temperatures were in the low 70s, and no AC was needed overnight—which was wonderful. If you have a sun shelter, bring it. With the afternoon angle of the summer sun the camper awning didn’t provide much shade. But with the nice breeze and under shade afternoons can be comfortable.
Donna and Vinny were a text away with answers to any questions we had about the property or surrounding areas like trails, cute General Stores and places to eat. They even let us pick vegetables from the garden! There are plenty of fun day trips with just a 30-minute drive to other little towns, wineries, breweries and hiking trails.
Being from Florida this was just what we were looking for, kind of a home away from home to come back to and enjoy a couple times a year. The set up of the site and full hookups made it easy. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

We loved camping here! From when I made the reservation, Vinny and Donna reached out with helpful information, local points of interest, and great directions. The land is beautiful, quiet, and perfect for all types of campers. We came in with a 15 foot off grid travel trailer and accessed everything with ease. Vinny and Donna provided plenty of firewood, making our visit even better.
We have already made another reservation for October. Lots of deer, rabbits, and birds for your wildlife viewing. So glad to have found Secluded Retreat!

Beautiful spot, quiet and secluded, good access. A little hard to find via GPS - fortunately the owners sent pictures of the entrance. Power was stable, good water pressure. I was able to get an excellent Starlink signal at the spot. I was able to ride my electric mountain bike on the property and up the trail that they have made up into the woods. I did not attempt fishing in the stream next to the road you take to the entrance to the property but there were several folks fishing there. It’s also nice that Hillsville is only 10 minutes away - Food Lion, fast food, etc. Galax is only 20 miles away, if you need something from a larger store like Walmart or Lowe’s. I would definitely stay again.

Secluded Retreat
This is based on us having a 31' travel trailer. Very secluded and pretty. Pretty level site with full hookups. Nice stone fire ring and concrete picnic table. There was also a stack of fire wood available. We had a little trouble at the end of our route as our GPS cut off and said we were at our destination about 4 miles short of it but that was the GPS' fault. Just put the address in from current location to the site's address and should be ok. Just be aware that the road back to their property is a 2 way road and not really wide enough for 2 vehicles when one is a camper. We really liked the site and would go again. Donna was very friendly and extremely helpful with texts and phone calls.

Secluded Retreat
We spent 3 nights at Vinny and Donna's beautiful hideaway. Perfect! The site is elevated so you have a birds eye veiw of the beautiful open pasture and woods that surround you. Each morning we took a walk down the quiet dead end road with our dogs then came back to have a cup of coffee and listen to the symphony of birds. The area is full of things to do. There's hiking galore and good restaurants an easy drive away. Then each evening we'd take a walk with our dogs and come back to a campfire to end a perfect day.
Donna and Vinny are super friendly and full of information about the area.
We've already booked another stay and highly recommend this secluded get away spot.

We used this as a quick stop on our way home on a long road trip. We got there late and left early but in the morning the place looked awesome! It was easy to find even in the pitch dark, except go left at the campsite loop instead of right up the steep hill. Nice flat gravel pad and full hook ups! Unfortunately I don’t have much more to add except we would stay here again.

Peaceful weekend overall with a few rain showers to break it up. The site was quiet with the occasional deer in the field. We brought a 9000 pound 30 foot travel trailer and needed 4 wheel drive to ascend the grade up to the campsite. The turning radius into the grade was part of the issue as the cut back changed the weight on the rear axle of the truck. Be mindful of the spacing for a slide out because the height of the water spigot puts it even with the corner of the slide and I didnt stay far enough to the right or pull forward enough, both of which would've solved that issue. The hosts were communicative and I would definitely visit again.
