Peace Hill Farm

Donkey and sheep and cows, oh my! Goats and horses and chickens, for sure! Not to mention the fish pond with dragonflies, butterflies and frogs! Site 4 is a very peaceful spot with a nice firepit - we didn’t want to use it because of the dry weather. We had horses for NEIGHbors and lots of fresh air! Directions were spot on and the signage is extremely helpful!

Peaceful and Safe

We had a great time tent camping at site three. With Lafayette Hall so close, it was easy to get to the fully appointed kitchen, clean bathroom and shower. All of the sites are within eye-shot of each other but far enough away not to bother each other with noise. All the animals were lovely. We enjoyed listening to the sheep and watching the horses go in and out of their far pasture in the morning and evening. Highly recommend!

Unique Camping Experience!

We had a great time camping at site 4! Peace Hill Farms is a gorgeous property, especially in the spring. The site was large and flat with trees on 3 sides and a horse paddock on the other. The 4 horses there were extremely playful and curious - we had so much fun just standing at the fence or sitting at our site and watching them graze and play. They would come up to us to see what we were up to and if we had treats. Very cool! The church/community building, barn, and other camp sites were all on the other side of the field which was great. A close walk to the bathroom or kitchen to wash dishes, but far enough to be away from other campers and any farm smells. All the camp sites were full the two nights we were there and we could see and hear some music from one of the camp sites from ours, but it wasn’t disruptive and we enjoyed running into them and chatting in the church kitchen. The property was gorgeous, great trails and roads to explore the different sections of the farm - the fishing pond, the bnb, all the different animals (and their babies!) spread out everywhere. We never saw anyone that worked there, but they were available over the phone and the bathrooms/kitchen were very clean and well stocked. We saw the fire ants that some other reviews mentioned but didn’t have any problems with them biting. We camped during a dry period, so no camp fires were allowed at site 4 which was disappointing, but we made the made the most of a camp stove. We’ll be coming back!

The site had every amenity that was promised plus wonderful extras such as access to a bath with shower, firewood, and a trickle charging outlet. This site is s tremendous value.

Quick Winter Visit

Susan was quick to respond for confirming the booking. This was my second stay at Peace Hill and I had a wonderful time. I stayed at Site 3 and it is very flat and close to the Lafayette Hall where there are bathrooms with showers and a kitchen. The site faces the owners main house and horse ring. If you want more privacy, pick the sites on the other side of the Lafayette Hall. I loved walking the property and visiting the farm animals!

Peace Hill is a beautiful working farm which provided plenty of level space to camp. There is plenty of room to load and unload tow vehicles. The generous permission to use the community center kitchen and bath were outstanding perks. For bicycle enthusiasts, its proximity to the Capital Bike Trail Charles City Parking area was a bonus. For tourists, it is close to Jamestown and Williamsburg. I loved watching the exercising of the horses. The friendly waves of those feeding the farm animals made me feel welcome. Susan was very accommodating when I had to leave early due to snow. I will definitely revisit this site when in the area. FYI: I found it best to put Peace Hill Fellowship in when goggling directions so I wouldn't end up at the Bed & Breakfast.

Lovely farm and the owner was very nice. RV sites unfortunately are literally in a gravel parking lot. People park in the lot on Sunday for church and stay most of the day. Decent place to camp but the invasion on Sunday was not revealed until late Saturday and made for awkward "camping" surrounded by cars coming and going all day Sunday.

The farm was beautiful! Very peaceful and I loved seeing the horses. I also appreciated having the bathroom and kitchen right next to site 3. There was a firepit at the site with wood. So thoughtful! The only reason I say "mixed feelings" is that I was the only one. I prefer to have some people around (not close to my campsite but in the campground) so I didn't love this. But the farm felt completely safe! I have also developed a rash of some sort. I can't say for sure if this is from the farm or not, but I do wonder if the grass I fed the horses or petting the horses contributed to the rash. Just something to consider before petting the animals. Could just be a coincidence! Overall, a lovely area and if you don't mind solitude or have someone you are camping with, totally do it!!!

The site was quiet and beautiful. We really enjoyed walking the farm and seeing the animals. I caught my first Bluegill in the lovely fishing pond. I would definitely recommend Peace Hill Farm if you’re looking for peace and quiet in a rustic rural setting.

Just needed to park my car and sleep in it and this was easy to come and go. Several amenities but I didn’t use the firepit or even walk the property. Spacious and was mostly unbothered my whole stay. Thanks for being accommodating.

Loved camping here! Would absolutely recommend to a friend. The camping sites were perfect with plenty of room to pull the car in and came equipped with a fire pit. Bathrooms and showers nearby was such a luxury for camping - not to mention the beautiful property with farm animals and a hearty garden to walk around. Felt very sweet, welcoming, and private. One of our favorite camping stays for sure!

We are very grateful for use of the church facilities for our stay. We met some very nice and interesting people here while sharing a pot of coffee. The showers and kitchen were very handy. It also gave us a cool place to be during some of the hottest days of July. The farm is beautiful and extremely peaceful. No electric hookup, but with use of the facilities we didn't miss it much. I would definitely recommend. We were invited to service but had to leave too early. Thank you. Paul and Holley MATTHEW 25:35-40

What a spectacular farm, incredibly beautiful everywhere you look. Super peaceful and secluded right next to the horse pasture, in a nice shady spot in the woods. Huge bonus was the indoor bathroom and kitchen access at the church! We want to come back and stay at the hen house or the bed and breakfast and will be back to camp again. Fantastic spot!!!!! Only complaint is they need ant warning signs at the sight haha. The fire ants were pure torture and hung on for life when biting and it’s a bit painful

Absolutely loved the place, very quiet, well kept, with forest and grazing area along with a beautiful garden as your surrounding. Bonus were the animals. Campsite was perfect size. Bonus was being able to use facilities for personnel care. Was very easy to reserve a site. And very convenient to historical sites.
