Lucked out and didn’t have to share space with other campers but important to note this is a group site with shared fire pit and river access is a decent 10 minute walk. Instructions say to text upon arrival and get “registered” but upon doing that I got no response and eventually gave up and set up my tent in a random location due to it being too hot to sit and wait in the car. After about 2 hours I got a response, good thing I didn’t wait to set up! I think with improved privacy, river access, and check in process this would be a 5/5. But I won’t likely return

Harmony Tree Farm was the perfect tent camp getaway. Grounds were beautiful and clean located in a forest of trees. Firewood was plentiful and the firepit was great. Short walk to the river was fun but be prepared to hike a couple of steep muddy descents. Easy drive to Culpeper Va.. if you need supplies or want to explore the area. Cute, southern town. Matthew was helpful with our questions as well. Definitely recommend this Hipcamp!

Absolutely an amazing spot. Secluded, but you know Matt is just down the road if you need him. Was great to meet and he let's you do his thing while at the same time you know he is available. Loved that I could just park my car and unload my stuff and didn't need to haul anything more than a few feet. Stream/river is just a quick hike down the path and is just beautiful and peaceful. Wish I brought my rod. Not a lot of prepared wood, but there was plenty of natural wood around to keep the fire going, so no complaint there. I'm sure if I asked, he would have processed some for me. But it wasn't necessary. Absolutely would/will stay again.

Very well kept site with ample summer shade and a short walk to a nice spot on the river. Mostly level and mostly private space with the house about 100 yards away and barely visible through the trees. Great firepit setup. Would definitely be back.

This is a beautiful, private site. Matthew was a great host. Our favorite part was the bluebell patch we saw on the walk to the river :) Will definitely be returning!

Hazel River - Harmony Tree Farm
Second stay. Very nice. River is a 5 minute hike. The bluebells were out this last time. Shenandoah River Park is my favorite for hikes, so did a day trip there. Skyline Drive is less than an hour —-if you can plan it for sunrise or sunset you will be awestruck. Sunset at the camp’s river was pretty. There’s a couple of owls in residence—I enjoyed listening to them on both trips.

Great little spot that Matthew has! Very private for the most part and has a short scenic walk to Hazel River. Firewood provided was a very nice touch and overall campsite was very accommodating. Would book again!

We loved camping here, the fire pit and benches were great, and there was a nearby table for prepping food. Matthew was very friendly and the beach at the river was an enjoyable little adventure. Definitely would visit again.

Matt’s Tree Farm is wonderful - wooded site with a pristine port-o-potty and plenty of firewood. The wood table is perfect for cooking, and the log benches around the fire pit complete the forest vibe. It’s only a short walk to the water, a nice place to spend the afternoon in the sun. Looking forward to booking in for the summer weather and swimming!

Harmony Tree Farm is a great place to test new camping gear.
The site features a stone firepit, thee log benches, a spot to process firewood, and a workstation table. It's awesome.
There's a wide array of safe locations to place your tent (no widow-makers). There aren't any ridiculous gravel plots or hideous wooden decks. Matthew has done a beautiful job preserving the natural world while making it accessible.
Down the hill, back and around the property, there's an access trail to the Hazel River, where you can walk out onto the sand flats for fishing.

Matt was great! We came in late and he went out of his way to plow some snow around the campsite to make it more accessible. We enjoyed the site and the overall area. Definitely worth visiting !

Camped out of my jeep over here. Owner was great, super responsive, and kind. Clean port-a-potty for use and they provided firewood. Great tucked away spot and would highly recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Harmony Tree Farm, hosted by Matt, and it was everything I hoped for and more! The site was incredibly scenic, with lots of tree cover that made it feel cozy and secluded. Visiting in the fall was a real treat with all the leaves changing colors—absolutely stunning!
One of the highlights was the private beach area on the river, just a quick 5-minute walk from the campsite. We spent an entire day relaxing there, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the sound of the river. It was the perfect spot to unwind and recharge.
Matt was a great host, and you can tell he’s put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming, comfortable space. I’ll definitely be back to enjoy Harmony Tree Farm again!

The land was nice, however the site was not private at all, and the porta John is too close to the site. Trucks were passing by the site during the day, and the host stopped by in the evening. I asked if there was firewood since there was mention of a supply in the listing, and he said he ran out but wanted my help to cut more. I told him no thanks I found enough laying around but he came back with his chainsaw and made me help him cut a decent supply of firewood for multiple campers in the dark around 9pm. Then he proceeded to invite himself to hang out at the camp site and drink beer and smoke weed. All in all it went on for about 2.5 hours. He seemed friendly enough and I don't doubt he had good intentions, but it definitely was not an enjoyable night. I had gone solo camping to be in solitude out in nature not to hang out with someone drinking beer with a chainsaw late at night in rural Virginia.

Beautiful campsite with perfect amenities. Within an hour drive of Shenendoah National Park, Sky Line Drive, wineries, breweries, and hard cider mills. This was our 4th trip to this spot and we always have a wonderful time.

Very nice view and ver secluded. The walk to the water is well marked and not too far away. My dogs enjoyed it a lot. The only small drawback is - if your tent/shelter is big, there would be a walk from your car to your tent about 50feet. If you are glamping like me, that’s a lot of stuff you need to carry around.

This was my first visit, and I was thoroughly impressed. The site was easy to locate and exceptionally well-maintained. The added amenities, including the fire pit, porta potty, tree bench, and provided firewood, were a fantastic bonus. The area is beautifully shaded with plenty of trees, offering a serene, quiet, and private atmosphere. I look forward to returning when the leaves begin to change.

We had a fantastic stay at this campsite! It offers just the right balance of comfort and nature for those who enjoy “roughing” it. The amenities are well-maintained, with a very clean porta potty and water available for cleaning. Our family loved gathering around the campfire and the log bench seating added a charming touch to our outdoor experience. The short hike to the river was a highlight, offering beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. Overall, a great spot for a family camping adventure!

Isolated, shady, clean, and lots of great logs to sit on. Perfect campsite- water has a great little sandy beach which was a nice stroll to take. Really nice that Matthew greets you to show you the property - super helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Awesome site in the woods! Only people I saw were the landowners driving down to the house on the property, but they were super respectful of my “alone time” and just waved and kept it moving.
The port-o-potty was a huge bonus - very clean! Firewood was ready. Site was spacious and well kept.
The path to the river was well-maintained and clearly marked. Didn’t see a single snake (although I’m sure they saw me). The stairway to the water is sketchy though, I recommend a walking stick. Also, bring your water shoes! The river is rocky in spots, and I found a surprising amount of glass bottle shards that had washed downstream.
All in all a beautiful spot to enjoy the forest in peace. I can’t wait to come back in the Fall to soak in the changing leaves!
