I cannot recommend camping at Darby Farm enough. Robin and family were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure I had a wonderful stay. I loved being right in the middle of all of the animals. Speaking of which, I also highly recommend the farm tour add-on, as well as any of the meal add-ons. Robin’s daughter gave me the most wonderful, hands-on tour of the farm and meet-and-greet with the horses, goats, cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, and turkeys. And the farm-to-table dinner Robin prepared was absolutely delicious and so elegant. I can’t wait to go back to Charlottesville and stay here again!

A beautiful spot to camp. My kids loved interacting with the animals. Very quiet and peaceful at night. Good location to explore Monticello, Shenandoah, etc Robin was a great host!

I only stayed for the night and early morning, so I can’t speak to the full experience, but the property is beautiful and accommodations were great. The serenity and breathtaking sunrise is well worth the price of admission.

Darby Farm was wonderful! Beautiful Mountain View’s, and a great area. Food was amazing. Be sure to add the dinner and breakfast to your trip. We will return! Great host! So much to do in the area!

Quiet night with a Mountain View

Robin is a super gracious and welcoming host. Her home and sites are located in a beautiful part of Virginia. We arrived early and had choice of the sites. We chose the most remote and private site of the three that were available. We had a small corner of the farm back by the chickens, horses and goats. The sites are not that far apart and on the small size, but they still felt adequately private. It’s just right for a short stay. There are many wineries and tap rooms in the area, in addition to parks and hiking trails. The morning we left Robin came to say goodbye and treated us to some delicious pumpkin bread that her daughter makes and sells on her IG. Check them out at Derby Farms. Thank you, Robin. It was our pleasure.

Robin was a pleasure to do business with - friendly, helpful and available without being intrusive.
The site is located in a quiet, beautiful and spacious valley livened up just enough by the sounds of her geese, ducks, chickens and goats, with happily, no rooster.
I highly recommend it.

Great location and great host! We were going to Monticello the next day and there was even an organic food store on our way there. Robin was friendly and accommodating - and her Farm Store had lots of interesting teas, honey, and more. Tomatoes and Blue Pea Flower Kombucha were delicious.

Robin's farm is beautifully maintained. She and her family were extraordinarily welcoming and kind. Robin is very knowledgeable about local history and things to do in the area, like the polo match nearby on Sunday afternoon.
The sites were private and flat, She provided ample firewood for the small fee.
Staying there was a wonderful experience!

We stayed for 6 nights, which is usually longer than I like to be away from home, but I could have stayed a month. The location was fabulous. Robin was the perfect host. The store was a treat... the sausage was awesome! We are looking forward to returning.

Robin was amazing! The farmshop was cute as heck, and the hospitality and kindness was felt both nigjts we stayed. We are not RVers, we just camped with our SUV and tent pitched next to their (provided) fire pit, and still had a blast!

What a delightful experience! So many wonderful things to say about our first Hipcamp trip! Robin and Chuck have a beautiful eight acre farm with chickens, ducks, geese, goats horses and magnificent views of the mountains. The Sunrises and Sunsets were inspiring! Darby Farm was the ideal base camp for exploring Crozet, Skyline Drive ($30), the Blueridge Parkway (free), vineyards, orchards and the Art Depot. Lunch at Smoked Kitchen was delicious and we came back after the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Crozet Creamery for ice cream. We met some new friends from Roanake (Archie, Bill & Patricia) that joined us around the campfire while Richie played guitar and sang. Chiles orchard had Apple Cider donuts that just melted in your mouth. And the panoramic views of the mountains from Kings Family Vineyard were soul stirring. In early Fall they have Polo matches at the vineyard as well. We were able to dump our black tank at a local campground for $15. Robin brought us homemade blueberry muffins for breakfast Sunday morning and Chuck was a font of information about local hiking. He had suggested we hike up to Humpback Rocks and so we stayed an extra day, ascending Monday to a view of both the Shenandoah Valley and Rockfish Gap Valley that can only be experienced to truly appreciate. Definetly a five star experience.

We loved staying at the Darby Farm with Robin. She is so kind and helpful in every way. She has a great little shop with not only local goods but also drinks/snacks incase you need. She responds prompt to text messages and makes incredible muffins (: We loved how you can view the mountains from her property. She also has horses, goats, chickens and more. Very wonderful stay and we hope to return again soon! Thanks again Robin!

Robin and her family were wonderful and welcoming hosts! We enjoyed chatting with them and they were helpful with tips on things to do.
Our kids had a great time visiting the animals and using the rope swing. The surrounding land is beautiful and there isn't a bad view. Other campers were there but we were spread out. You can engage with them or stay private if you choose. Nice level spaces for RVs. A spigot for water hook up is available. 20 volt electrical so have an adapter and extension cord with you.
The farm store was well stocked and lovely. We took home great eggs and local meats. We would definitely recommend staying here and would return again.

Robin and her family were incredibly welcoming. We couldn't have asked for better hosts! They were happy to help us figure out where to explore in the area and even gave us directions to hikes in the area. They welcomed our children and taught them about the farm animals. They prepared us a lovely farm-to-table meal that was served outside with views of the mountain sunset. We stayed for several days, but our entire family wished we would have reserved for longer. This is an absolutely wonderful stop for any camper!

This was our first Hipcamp booking and Robin has set the bar high! This was a very serene and peaceful camping area with the added bonus of a wonderful host and delicious food. We purchased the catered dinner and it was lovely, all of our guests raved about the meal as well. We felt very welcome and well cared for during our 3 night stay. The farm animals were friendly and a fun addition. The view of the mountains was also quite lovely with stunning sunsets. We would recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again in our future travels.

Robin and her farm were amazing! She offered a 5 course candle light dinner which I purchased as part of our experience there. It was our 42 wedding anniversary so I surprised my husband with the location and dinner. He was very impressed also! Was fun visiting all the animals before we left the next day. Robin and the farm were absolutely lovely. We wound up there as a last-minute detour (we instant booked and were there 20 minutes later) and she was so friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately it was raining when we were there so the mountain views were obscured. I'm sure they're gorgeous.! My city kids were really happy with open space to play in and animals to fawn over. There were a few other families there when we were there but in a way that was comfortable; we had plenty of space.
Since we'd had a lot of activities curtailed by the rain, we took advantage of the farm-to-table experience and had Robin provide breakfast (she's a caterer). Luxurious, delicious, and saved us a ton of time in the AM as we had to get on the road unfortunately early. Treat yourself and ask for the quiche!
I believe her electrical hookup is a 20V; make sure you have a converter if needed.
This was our first RV trip and our first Hipcamp experience. We will definitely repeat.

Robin is a wonderful host! We were tent camping over a weekend that rained non stop. She made us muffins unexpectedly and brought us dry towels. The chickens and ducks were fabulous! We loved seeing them.

We had such a wonderful time on our last visit, we just had to come to see Robin and her family again. If you are on the fence about booking, don't be. Book now! Robin is an amazing host. Little things like muffins (blueberry) in the morning to her guests, was a delightful and unexpected surprise. She has on-site items for sale to make your camping experience even better. My wife and I agree that robins place is going to be our goto location for the Wintergreen/ Charlottesville area for now on.
