Our property is nestled in the foothills of the Mad River Valley, close to the headwaters of the river. The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. All structures on the property are solar-powered and a rainwater system feeds the sink in the outdoor kitchen. There are a handful of individual camp sites available in the spring, summer and fall, as well as a communal outdoor kitchen with lighting, a fire pit, a stone pizza oven and a sitting/yoga deck. We also offer more of a "glamping" experience in our 14 ft yurt, which comfortably sleeps 2-3 people with wood stove heat and a solar battery for lighting. We love sharing this space with others and offering a rustic forest getaway.

The hemlock campsite is situated in the far south corner of our property beside a small creek and cascading waterfall. This is a forested, walk-in site with two access points, both about 200 yards from where you'll park your car. The terrain can be slightly muddy at times and has some uneven footing and two short bridge crossings required from both access points. This site accommodates one large tent or two small tents and campers will share the communal kitchen space which is a 2-3 minute walk from the site.

The Yellow Birch site is a walk-in site located just past the Creekside Yurt on an elevated wood chip pad surrounded by ferns and trees. The wood chip pad will only accommodate one tent. This campsite receives beautiful morning sun but offers partial shade for the hotter summer days. This campsite is just a short walk from both the outdoor kitchen and the outhouse. Enjoy the shared communal kitchen and fire pit space or the seclusion of your own campsite nestled in the forest.

This is a drive-in/walk-in site with space available for up to three tents. Your campsite is located on a large, grassy plateau with down-valley views and plenty of flat tent spaces. This is an ideal site for stargazing and is the sunniest site. Welcome to the Creekside Yurt! This is a 14-foot yurt that sleeps up to 4 people with a communal fire pit and outdoor kitchen across the creek from the yurt. The yurt has a bunk bed with a single bed on top and a double bed on bottom that folds up into a futon. Amenities include a solar battery with plug-in ports for chargers and string lights (already set up), a woodstove and stocked firewood, an electric tea kettle with tea and coffee, and sheets/pillows/blankets. All cooking should be done in the outdoor kitchen. We ask that guests are comfortable using a woodstove.

Owl's Perch Cabin

The Owl's Perch is a treehouse-like cabin situated on the edge of an 85 acre forest with beautiful views of the Green Mountains in the background and a mix of forest, wildflowers, and wetland habitat in the foreground. The cabin faces south-east and has a sitting deck and floor-to-ceiling windows that receive incredible morning light. With a pullout couch and a queen-sized bed in the upstairs loft, the cabin comfortably sleeps up to four people. This is a fully off-grid cabin with solar-powered lighting inside and out and an advanced rain-barrel system that supplies water for an outdoor shower (it is unheated water) and a kitchen sink. The cabin has a fully stocked kitchen with a two-burner propane stove, running water, a mini refrigerator, an advanced Berkey water filtration system for drinking water, cooking utensils, pots/pans, and ample dish ware. There is a wood stove for heat that will be stocked with firewood but should only be used in the fall/winter season. The outhouse is just a short walk down the hill and the outdoor fire pit in the communal kitchen is also open for shared use with other hipcampers.

This area is really nice to camp and still have some confort (outdoor kitchen, toilets etc) The camping site was pretty easy to find thanks to Laura’s instructions Tiny problem, we didn’t have drinkable water but hopefully Laura’s sister was here to help us :)

Creekside Yurt
We loved staying in the yurt during leaf peeping season! We were very warm, cozy, and feeling ‘off the grid’ in this secluded sunshine flooded spot with very little, if any, cell service. Our 26 lb pocket pittie had a blast running around all the hills and hopping around in the brush like a bunny. She was very sad when it was time to leave. I think this spot would be excellent for folks with small children as well because there’s plenty of nooks and crannies to explore without going very far. We loved sitting at the outdoor breakfast nook, reading, and napping in the breeze.

i absolutely loved this stay! the site itself was so cute and tucked away in a little stream with short trails nearby. at night, we could hear the stream and all the birds. the communal kitchen was also super helpful and well put together, we had everything we needed! a very good and memorable stay!

Such a nice spot, I absolutely loved my stay here. There are two foot bridges to get into the site and it’s right on the brook. I felt like I was in my own little nook in the woods. Feels very private. Firewood included in your stay, and the fire pit is in the meadow outside of the site (you can’t have a fire at the actual site). Very clear instructions on how to get there.

Overall it was a ok spot, it did rain a lot that first night and I ended up heading back early. I was hoping for a little more privacy and silence, the spots very close to the yurt and unfortunately the people renting it were loud with music and talking.

A beautiful little spot. Rode through on a bike trip and it was a perfect landing spot after a hard day. The outdoor kitchen and fire pit made for a lovely night. The whole place is adorable and full of nice little touches! Definitely recommend.

Laura's spot is well set up with a communal outdoor kitchen and fire pit area, which we didn't use for our very short stay but seemed like big perks! It's a good base for nearby adventuring, and we'd return specifically for the Hemlock campsite, which is lovely and the only spot that feels truly private and wooded. There is a site map available on Hipcamp, but we didn't realize until arriving just how close the Yellow Birch tent site, cabin, and yurt would be -- everything is quite visible and open. It's a straightforward and cozy spot to set up a small tent if you're in the area.

Hemlock Campsite
This was my second time staying with Laura and once again just a beautiful spot to spend the night and wake up. There was a bit of confusion with our site and some other campers, through no fault of the host. Laura and her family went out of their way to make sure we were accommodated and had a positive experience. It was a hot summer day and we loved going for a dip in the nearby swimming hole and taking in the sounds of the barred owls at night. Looking forward to our next stay already!!

The space is beautiful and serene. The “poop only” composting toilet left a lot to be desired. Requiring guests pee in the woods isn’t cool and is also unsanitary. The non-potable water for dishwashing wasn’t well labeled and could easily be mistaken for potable water. Also using non-potable water for dishwashing isn’t food safe. The jugs with potable water weren’t very clean. I opened a second jug and there was visible grime and dirt on the inside of the lid, so we didn’t drink it. With a few minor changes to the water situation and potty this place would be heavenly.

This is a hidden gem in the Mad River Valley, very cool place to spend some time. The owners couldn’t be friendlier and it’s a beautiful piece of property. Can’t wait to stay there again!

Our group was camping in hammocks and the Hemlock campsite was perfect with plenty of trees. It was very secluded and had a great stream running through that made for a nice backdrop for sleeping.

We loved staying at the Yurt this past weekend. The location was easy to find and very centrally located in the Sugarbush area. We were minutes drive from swimming, hiking and restaurants. The facilities were rustic but clean. We had a great time meeting folks at the fire pit and cooking area. The fire files were like fireworks and we slept great other than the 3:00 visit by a pair of owls (I think they were owls, totally worth it). Laura was very responsive and her sister and partner checked in with us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed.

The location was great, close to the Lincoln Gap, Camels Hump, Lawson's Finest beer and Waterbury. A nice fire ring setup and covered outdoor kitchen was a plus. Also, the cost was very reasonable!

I loved camping here for the night everything was so clean and nicely put together! We came later in the evening, Laura was really helpful giving us some extra directions we needed to navigate to the yurt in the dark. The property itself was beautiful and I loved how everything was set up.
