Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe. There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know? Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids. Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies. LGBTQ+ friendly.

Pitch your tent under the shade of oak, cedar and holly trees. Lakeside camping on a private 17 acre lake in the Timber Country of East Texas. Very serene, private and secure. There's plenty of trees for shade, lots of space if you have several tents. Your wilderness adventure awaits. Don’t be surprised if you see fireflies, turtles, frogs, opossum, armadillo, road runner, beaver and rabbit. Birdwatchers are likely to encounter cardinals, hummingbirds, mockingbirds, grey heron, white egret, hoot owl, blue jay, robin, whippoorwill, hawk and rarely, eagle. Catch and keep fishing for Bass, Bluegill, Catfish and Crappie. Fishing is phenomenal! Campsite is drive up, has a fire ring and picnic table. Pet friendly! We love furry best friends, must be on leash. Ages 1-6 stay free. Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included. Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Cabin tent with bed hidden away in the trees on a knoll. The 10’ x 14’ cabin tent has a king size bed with memory foam mattress. The tent sits on graveled site for a dry, level and clean camping experience. There is a picnic table, an outdoor cold shower, dedicated compost toilet, charcoal grill, fire pit. This is a walk in campsite, 40 foot walk to parking, 300 foot walk to the lake. This is one of our most private campgrounds. Included with the cabin tent: - 1 king size bed - 2 chairs You need to bring: - sleeping bags/blankets - pillows - towels for the outdoor shower - trash bag(s) you are required to pack out your own trash Your wilderness adventure awaits. One of a kind space on a small lake. This stunning Pacific dome at Daffodil Hill is a little bit of home and a little bit of camping. The forest and lake fill the view from the bay window. Fall asleep to the forest sounds in a king sized bed. Wake up to the sounds of birds and sun that fills the dome. Outside the dome, enjoy the shade of oak, holly, cedar and maple trees from the deck. The outdoor kitchen has a griddle, stove and yeti cooler, all you need to bring is food and ice. You will experience the sustainability of off grid tiny home living, with no electricity or running water at the dome. The unique circular outhouse has a compost toilet and a sun shower. We keep the indoor water dispenser filled for your convenience. Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included. Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Beautiful camp spot! We enjoyed the seclusion and views. The kayaks were such a plus for us. We just floated and enjoyed the sounds and views. Host are great! We willlll be back. Thanks again!

I very much enjoyed my stay here. Very private and the lake was so peaceful. It’s probably too small for motorboats (that’s a good thing in my book) but big enough for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. I loved hearing the chorus of frogs and the blips of light from the fireflies. It’s not the easiest to get to, but the directions provided by the host were excellent. They meet you at the gate and give you a tour of the facilities. You can text if you have any trouble or questions, but otherwise leave you alone to enjoy your stay. AT&T was one bar, but there is enough clearing for Starlink if you need that. I saw some of the comments saying you need 4wd to get there. You don’t unless it’s been raining. Just take it slow. I never once put it in 4wd. Higher clearance helps but not necessary. If you question this, just contact the host. I’m sure they will advise you on the best decision. Being August in East Texas, I thought I would be miserably hot, but it was about 10 degrees cooler there. The shade from the trees was quite adequate so no need for a canopy. I didn’t have a fire, but firewood is available for a fee. The picnic table is level which is good for cooking on a propane stove. The tent area has some pitch to it. I stay in my Jeep, so I just use rocks for leveling. I would definitely stay here again. I travel extensively staying mostly in primitive public lands. Texas has very few places like that, so I prefer to support local landowners over the commercial campgrounds.

Our second time visiting this camp, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The hosts are amazing and the campsite is very quiet. It's a great spot to relax and do some kayaking.

The camping area is right at the lake with an area a little further from it for a tent. It’s pretty and I enjoyed hearing the birds at dusk. The road to get in is rough and the recommendation to have an AWD vehicle shouldn’t be ignored. Part of being next to a lake means hearing a very loud chorus of frogs all night so pack earplugs. The composting toilet area is well maintained and sits a good distance from the tent area, which makes sense, however, there’s a small trench to cross on the way to it that’s not a big deal until it fills with rain and has to be crossed at night.

We tent camped at Wayne’s Land and had an absolute blast. Beautiful views of the lake, great amenities in the kayaks and swimming dock. There are definitely alligators in the waters, but nothing really bothered us the whole time we were there. Only downside, I would say, is that the fire pit doesn’t have a grill, so you have to get creative with any cooking.

It was a great spot to camp. Simple get away with lake front view. We kayaked and canoed with our dog. The campsite was clean and it was convenient to have the compost toilet. We were able to pull right up to the site with our SUV and roof top tent set up. It was fun star gazing and watching the bats hunt over the water.

I loved camping on Wayne's land. Everything was quiet and clean. We loved being able to canoe on the lake. The compost toilet was nice and secluded. Would definitely stay here again.

What a gem of a property and great hosts! Freshly cut campsite right off a gorgeous spot of the lake. The picnic table and fire pit were great and there is an awesome spot to pitch your tent close by! Thank you and I will be back!

Such a beautiful piece of land! The hosts were wonderful! Keep in mind this is a very primitive spot in the middle of nowhere so you really are camping, not glamping! It was very quiet, serene, and natural. We would love to return.

Came back to Bruce’s land to see the total solar eclipse on 4/8/2024. I have to stress - Bruce is an excellent communicator and very patient. I must have changed my reservation 4 times before showing up with an extra vehicle. He allowed me to modify the reservation on Hipcamp and pay the additional fees for the extra persons I brought. The site is gorgeous. Road to the site is much improved. I won’t say too much more or might have trouble getting dates in the future. This is a real gem.

What a fantastic campsite. Jose met us and showed us around. So peaceful! It was my daughter's 18th birthday and she wanted to camp. We couldn't have asked for a better place. Communication was spot on and their property is gorgeous and right on the lake. I highly recommend! The campsite was very spacious. We were able to set up two large tents comfortably. The night time noises were so peaceful to fall asleep to. Only one person in our party took out a kayak, but we just relaxed on the floating dock while he enjoyed paddling around. Perfect stay. Thank you Bruce and Jose. We will definitely come back again

Enjoyed the camp! Great lake, lots for the kids to do, good fishing. One of our kiddos accidentally dropped a paddle in the lake and the hosts were very gracious and kind about it. Close enough to grab things from town, but secluded enough to feel like you have some privacy.

Bruce and José are excellent hosts. We had an unexpected squall, and they were kind enough to provide extra firewood after ours got drenched. The location itself is delightful. Lots of wildlife around the lake and great fishing. We will be back!

I loved camping on Bruce and Jose's land. Jose met us and we followed him in his truck to lead us to the site. We were absolutely alone. No one else on the lake or at the other sites. Things to keep in mind: It gets pitch black at night. The tent site is not completely flat unfortunately so keep that in mind when orienting your tent. Lots of dead trees in the lake so be prepared to lose some fish hooks!

The fishing here is exceptional. We each caught 4 fish. Fly fishing and traditional both will yield exciting medium bass, bluegill, crappie, various sunfish. Use of their canoes and kayaks is included and it’s great equipment. They have a new dome structure and it’s fantastic. A very well appointed cabin with a blackstone griddle and wood burning stove. we decided we needed firewood at like 9:30pm and they brought it within minutes. Jose is very nice and gave my family a tour of the whole facilities and made sure my mom knew how to use everything.

The lakeside campsite was beautiful and restocked with firewood daily. We had plenty of room for two tents and three vehicles. The floating dock provided the perfect spot for sunbathing and fishing. Our boys took the canoe out several times and had great fishing. Sadly, a rainstorm ushered in our last morning, so we did not get to enjoy a final lakeside breakfast. Our whole family agreed that this was spectacular camping trip, and we can’t wait to do it again.

Really enjoyed my stay here! Booked a last minute trip for me and my dog to do some tent camping during a stretch of perfect weather. Lovely campsite near a small lily pad covered pond, with fire ring, picnic table. Plan to return soon and bring my wife along. Nice and quiet with very dark skies, great for watching wildlife and stargazing.

We had a wonderful time at Daffodil Hill! You could not ask for two more gracious hosts. They were there to greet us and gave us a tour of their lovely property. We fished, made campfires and had a wonderful three days!

This was easily my favorite site so far on Hipcamp! The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and the land was gorgeous. Daffodil Hill Lake #1 had a view of the water, nice shady tree coverage, a fire ring, and a large picnic table. We were able to use provided kayaks and a canoe to get on the water, where we went fishing and caught several small fish. The water itself was peaceful, sunny, and even had water lily pads blooming. The composting toilet, while primitive in setup, was clean, well maintained, comfortable, and positioned with a relaxing view. The site felt remote, with only the occasional glimpse of other campers. The only note I'll give is that the lake is pretty small. It's a perfect spot for quietly putzing around or doing some relaxing fishing, but isn't large enough for any distance or more adventurous exploring. If you're looking for space to kayak/canoe instead of just chill, this probably isn't the right spot. 10/10 would recommend!

Fantastic hosts. Property is outstanding. At beaver pond expect to hear an orchestra of wildlife all night. Loved seeing and hearing so many bullfrogs. Good fire ring right by the pond. Fishing was fantastic. I caught almost entirely Bluegill, which I threw back, using medium minnows and snelled hooks. Could catch a fish every 5 min in certain spots, provided the canoe could have been anchored somehow. A canoe anchor would make a great addition. Weather was wonderful and the water was clean and clear down to about 5’.
