I love everything about this place. The peace and quiet of long term residents is exactly what I wanted. The trails are open and easy to walk and cooking my dinner on an open fire under clear star specked skies is the reason I do this. Thank you to the owner and staff for keeping an immaculate property, I hope to go back soon. I highly recommend you visit

This site was so roomy for a resort! The host met us at the gate even though we checked in late and he even drove us to our spot. (We followed him over). Water pressure was grrrrreat.

Loved this place so much! Not exactly primitive with the rvs being in view from the tent sites, but it was still nice and relaxing! Would come back!

I loved it here! Plenty of trees so very hammock friendly, the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Fire pits are great and comforting to sit next to, and the woods plays it's symphony of sounds at night.

Who rents a cabin out with a SCHEDULED water outage? No toilets, no shower, no water. I had to leave, what a waste of money.

I'm a bit conflicted about this place. The surroundings are lovely in the tent camping area, but I can't give it a whole lot more than that. I did get really lucky and had the camping area to myself, but in the busy season you would have little to no privacy or space. In my opinion, the listing is also misleading. For tent camping it says the sites have a picnic table and fire pit, but in actuality there was one table amongst the 10 sites, and only 2 fire pits. Also, when you look at the listing, it says RV/tent sites at $40 have electricity and water, but that really only pertains to RV spots so again, I found that to be misleading because for 8 out of 10 spots, you just get a patch of grass for $40 a night. The tent spots are also not near the water, and the bathrooms and "bathhouse" are pretty far away. All in all, my stay was fine because it wasn't very busy, and the surrounding trees are really pretty, but with everything that I mentioned, and the sound of dogs barking a lot of the time, it's hard to recommend wholeheartedly.

Nice campground and bathrooms. We had the worst site, on the end under a cute lamp pole, and no picnic table. The site next to us was vacant and would have been nicer. Cute welcome goodies!

Excellent tent sites, and the river was very pretty. Great bath houses and bathrooms. The abundance of wildlife (deer, armadillos, and owls) was a hit with our family. Since we arrived after dark when the office was closed we were visited at our site by the property management man and woman (sorry I forgot their names). They were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They even suggested several attractions in San Antonio that we took advantage of. Excellent experience.

Host was extremely informative and helpful and had a multitude of tent sites to choose from. We chose one right down by the river in complete solitude almost a mile from the nearest human. We encountered one of your large cats probably a bobcat on a foot trip to the Porta Pottie. We Wisconsinites camped in your Texas heat and did not complain. We also slept like babies knowing large cats were prowling the area. I would definitely recommend this extremely authentic experience to others - altho the solitude and forest environment surely isn't for everyone.

The RV section is very nice and clean. Unfortunately, this camp site has misrepresented the amenities they have. I was looking for a river campsite only to find a mud puddle and no restrooms near any of the tent sites. I did attempt to contact a property manager when we arrived Friday and have still not heard back from anyone. We did not stay and were only on the property for maybe 30 minutes. I requested a refund twice and again, have not heard back. I find this very alarming and dishonest. Hopefully, they're just busy and will contact me but something tells me that's not the case.

We spent a very quiet Thanksgiving at the Alamo River Resort. We were a little confused when we arrived after hours as the sites weren’t numbered, so we just chose one and it worked out fine! We enjoyed our stay.

Wasn't able to stay here, they were doing construction and gave us no notice ahead of time. Also, upon talking to them, it actually sounds like there was no allowance for campfires anyway. The staff seemed very short and stressed out and although I was able to get a refund I would not recommend staying here.

It was okay. Camp site wasn’t super well maintained. The river was very disappointing. It was much small, muddy and had garbage floating all over. Also, we don’t know where they were from, but there were these obnoxious dogs that barked the whole weekend. There were a nice amount of trees and shade. And the showers were very nice. We weren’t allowed to have a fire, but that’s because of the burn ban.

Had a blast camping at Alamo! The camp grounds are beautiful and hard everything we needed. We had our own picnic table and fire pit, and had easy access to toilets. The camp grounds are right along the Medina River so it was super easy/convenient to hop in the water to cool off.
The staff was also super friendly. Louis even gave us some of his homemade salsa to take home. Super tasty!
Will definitely camp here again

Unfortunately we had trouble getting in. We had been forgotten and the gates here lock. Someone that lives there contacted the owner for us and we were eventually settled in. The bathrooms and showers were clean and the campground was nice and the sites were very spacious. Almost everyone else there appears to live there full time, but the people were still very quiet. There is a dog rescue next door and the dogs' were very noisy, but quieted down at night. Despite being forgotten about and the dogs we would likely stay here again.

This was my mine and my kids first time staying on the grounds and we had a great time! Great access to medina river to do some fishing, great firepit set up on site for cooking, and had a very nice, large area to setup a tent! Loved that water spigots were on the campsite, and porta potties were close by as well! Our neighbors got a little rowdy later in the night, but nothing too crazy. Other than that, would definitely camp out there again!
