Great location, easy to get too. Great for three vehicles as we each had our own dedicated set up. Host were great with communication and ensuring our needs were met. Would consider using again next time we’re out that way. The host also gave us great information on locals spots to clean up and eat. Worth the stay!

My fifth trip to Wildcat Mountain. Great place as always. Clean and well maintained. This site is fairly remote but that's what I like about it.
Some things I did this time in the local area:
- Visited BBRSP and walked a couple of the smaller trails along the Rio Grande. Closed Canyon is a super-cool sight to see. Note that the interior of the State Park was closed for hunting. Be sure to check in at one of the visitor centers before venturing out that way. Closest one to this camp is Warnock off of FM 170 as you come into Lajitas.
- Did some souvenir shopping at stores around Terlingua/Study Butte. I always find good stuff.
- Visited the Children's Advocacy Center Thrift Store in Alpine (on TX 118 as you head out of town going south). Found some good deals and it helps out a worthy cause. :)

Excellent tent camping spot. There was no one around. The restroom was very clean. It had both a fire pit and a BBQ grill. It also had a trash can. The owners provided detailed driving instructions which was fortunate as we got their at night. If you plan to go to the Big Bend NP plan on about a 45 minute drive from the camp site to the Park HQ. Would definitely stay again. Enjoy!

Another great experience at Wildcat Mountain. Great to get away to the quiet.
Some things of note on this trip:
- I explored the dirt road to I-385 through the north part of BBNP. On the road between TX-118 and Terlingua Ranch Lodge, this road splits off right at the point where the pavement ends (there's a "Marathon" sign posted there). Road was dirt. Signage was clear - little chance of getting lost. High clearance/4x4 is recommended. Was cool to get to see another part of BBNP.
- Visited the Jackass Flats general store. Small, but nice. Good place to get necessities, if you don't want to run all the way to "town".
- I also did the "usual" stuff. Hiking to the west of the campsite, Terlingua Ranch Lodge (cafe and showers), BBNP (the Rio Grande was dry!), shopping in Study Butte/Terlingua Ghost Town, assorted driving about, star-gazing at night, afternoon dozing in my chair in the shade of the outhouse.
If you like the desert, and don't mind driving, this site is a great location away from the crowds at the park. :)

Me and my friends just spent spring break here and mark met up with us when we first got there to give us some recs on places to see & have us some firewood! He was lovely!

The property was clean, quiet and within a good distance to Big Bend National Park. Great views. Off the main roads enough so I never heard or saw any traffic. But not so far where it took forever to get back to them. Simple amenities were a nice touch. Plenty of room for my 30ft travel trailer and truck.

This was my third time visiting this campsite and it was a great experience again. We did the usual things (hiked up to the top of big mountain to the WNW as well as drove out to Terlingua and BBNP for the day). We also added a couple visits to the nearby Terlingua Ranch Lodge - the showers were nice and the food at the Bad Rabbit Cafe was good.

This was our second time staying at this magical slice of heaven. Both times Mark and Michelle greeted us shortly upon arrival, and are kind and friendly hosts. This is an awesome quiet and isolated campsite surrounded by incredible mountain views and wide open skies. Enjoy gorgeous sunsets and bright stars! It is an easy drive to the National and State Parks. We look forward to our next stay at Wildcat Mtn! This is our favorite campsite ever! Thank you so much. We will definitely be back.

This was my second time staying at the Wildcat Mtn campsite. I returned because:
- Nice views of the surrounding mountains and interesting nearby hills to hike and explore.
- Outhouse, water barrel, trash barrel, tent pad, fire ring and picnic table.
- Solitude.
This visit did not disappoint. If you like the above, you can't go wrong with this site. :)

Overall it’s a nice enough place to park and camp. Unfortunately it was not as private as we hoped. There were lots of dwellings within view, and some closer neighbors that shared the road, so no running about naked! 😉. They have provided a spacious tent pad, and there is a nearly level spot right next to it where we put our 15’ utility/camping trailer.
We also got lost with the brevity of directions. Be sure to get turn by turn, an mileage between turns instructions from the host.
The overview says there’s a toilet and shower, but if you read further down the host’s description you will see that these amenities are still under construction, so bring whatever “leave no trace” gear you need for toileting. It looks like it will be pretty spiffy when they get it finished.
It’s about 1.5 hrs into Big Bend from there, so not ideal for going in and out multiple days, but doable if you don’t mind spending the hours in the car.

A little off the beaten path, which is what I loved most. This site sets off of a dirt road away from everyone. We had a family of deer visit us, did not disturb us just pasted through in the evening around sunset. Very beautiful views of the sun rise over the mountains. Oh and all the beautiful wildflowers. This camp site is absolutely beautiful. Mark and Michelle were great hosts, provided easy to follow directions even in the dark. They even checked on us 1st thing in the morning since we arrived at night. They have a cute little outhouse (bring wag bags). My kids and I could not have had more of an amazing time. Be sure to turn out the lights and look up. There were more stars in the sky then you can count.

Our biggest issue was how far away it was from the park. The park is very large. From the campsite you are at least an hour and a half away from any hiking. I would highly recommend staying in the park if possible. It will be cheaper and save a significant amount of time. Only book this campsite as a last resort.

This is a great spot with excellent views of the landscape and night sky. It felt like we had the whole area to ourselves, as no one else was around. The property is open and level enough to easily park an rv on. Communication from the hosts was quick. I’d highly recommend this spot for boondocking or tent camping.

Loved this campsite! It’s very private (only one site) with a level tent pad and privacy shelter for changing/shower bags and has a camping toilet inside (bring your own loo bags). Very primitive, but you can use the hot showers at the lodge about 4 minutes away. It does get verrry dark on the road so make sure you’re there with daylight to navigate to the site. Mark and Michelle are fantastic communicators with great directions. Easy to get ahold of if need be. The drive to BBNP is about 35-40 minutes but worth it if you plan to explore more than just the park. We loved the experience here and highly recommend.

Beautiful area! The hosts were extremely nice and accommodating. My car broke down at big bend and the host were ready to offer help and check my camp while I was getting it fixed. Definitely a great expression of west Texas hospitality. I can’t wait to come back again

Beautiful spot, isolated just enough to enjoy quiet and peace. Mark and Michelle were great hosts and provided an excellent site to ring in the New Year, with adequate supplies. Although when I first drove by the entrance road to the site I was concerned about my car being able to make it, my basic four-door sedan was able to get to the site just fine.

Mark and Michelle are wonderful hosts! Their property is secluded and quiet with amazing views. There is a level tent site, picnic table, fire ring, and enclosed privy (for use with solar shower and disposable waste bags). No shade so bring an awning. Hiked the host’s property and it was beautiful. Was able to shower at the Terlingua Resort Lodge (small fee) and had dinner at Bad Rabbit Cafe. This is a great winter getaway!

Mark & Michelle’s property was perfect for our trip to Big Bend. The site was situated among gorgeous mountains all around. Sunrise and sunset were amazing. They kept the site neat, easily accessible and amenities were exactly as described. Mark also went out of his way to communicate directions so that we would be at the correct spot. We will definitely book again for our next trip to Big Bend.

My stay was great! Beautiful desert scenery. The nearby hills were accessible for easy-to-moderate hiking. I made good use of the shade of the "outhouse" during the hot part of the day and well as enjoyed the sunrises, sunsets and the view of the stars at night. I made an easy and enjoyable day trip to Study Butte, Terlingua and Lajitas.
Some local traffic on the nearby dirt road and some party and vehicle (motorcycle) noise from the nearby Terlingua Ranch lodge, but it wasn't an obnoxious amount.
I appreciated the availability of the non-potable water barrel and the flat tent pad. Firepit was well constructed and situated to block the wind.
I plan to come back. Thanks!
