Awarded South Dakota's best Hip Camp 4 times. Uncle B's farm is a small 11 acre hobby farm with a large vegetable garden, chickens, peafowl, guinea fowl, turkeys, dogs, and cats. There is an old quarried stone railroad bridge and a few short walking trails around the pond. The pond is at the back of the property where I have 6 dry camp sites listed as Uncle B's farm for tents or self contained RV's. All sites have partial to full shade and most have mature trees that will work for a hammock or tensile tent. All of the campsites have a firepit, some with cooking grates and all sites have a picnic table. The "shower shack" is shared by all guests and has 2 separate 3/4 baths with all modern plumbing. There is also a basic outdoor kitchen with a few portable grills as well as a sink with modern plumbing. Available at Uncle B's RV Camper site I have 3 RV sites with water and 30 Amp electrical hookups. My "Ready Set Camp" listing is a dome tent set up and furnished with 4 cots, table, and lamp as well as a match ready fire. The Barn loft apartment is a studio apartment with a small galley kitchen and private bath. The Hippie Bus is new for the 2025 season and offers a trip back in time. Voted the Best Hip Camp to visit in South Dakota 4 times ... Quiet 11 acre Produce/hobby farm 8 miles south of Interstate 90 and 23 miles west of Sioux Falls.  I really enjoy hosting and try and make sure everyone gets a little more than they expected. I try and offer farm fresh eggs, Smores fixin's, and produce from the garden. The chickens cant always keep up and its late summer before the garden hits it stride but depending on your timing you may get one or all of the above freebies.  There are 6 tent or self contained dry camp sites spaced out near the pond. each site has room for a medium sized RV however the 6 sites listed as Uncle B's farm do not have electricity or water. If you require hookups you will want to book one of the 3 sites listed as Uncle B's RV sites. Picnic tables and firepits are at all sites and an adequate amount of firewood is included with additional firewood that can be purchased. There is also a storm shelter available should weather warrant.  I mowed a short walking/hiking/biking nature trail around and through the property that winds around the pond and a small old quarried stone rail road bridge. A great place for a short stroll and to check out some of the wildlife that frequent the pond.    The shower shack is fully functional with two complete 3/4 bath rooms. next on the list is a screened in "clubhouse and eventually a basic outdoor kitchen but for now there is a utility sink that can be used for dishes.   Lake Vermillion State Park is 6 miles away with swimming, fishing and paddling options. Thunder Valley Dragstrip in Marion is 10 miles away with weekend drag-racing. I-90 Speedway (dirt track) is about 20 miles and have 3 classes of stock cars on Saturday nights. The Ortman Chiropractic Clinic in Canistota is 6 miles. Sioux Falls and the Sanford Premier Center is about 25 miles. Great Pheasant hunting in every direction with public hunting area's near by.

Quiet 11 acre Produce/hobby farm 8 miles south of Interstate 90 and 23 miles west of Sioux Falls. A large garden and several pets including Dogs, Cats, Chickens, Peacocks, and Guinea's. Out back is a small pond frequented by a variety of birds and animals, ducks, geese, hawks, woodpeckers, owls, muskrat, and pheasants to name a few. This pond, while very low right now, has several fish and turtles you can feed.  I currently have 3 RV site's with electricity and water available. All 3 sites have a 30 amp electrical service and rural water and Wi-fi is available throughout the camp. Sites are spaced 50 feet apart and each site has a picnic table and firepit with a small amount of firewood included and additional firewood that can be purchased. I mowed a short walking/hiking/biking nature trail around and through the property that winds around the pond and a small old quarried stone rail road bridge. A great place for a short stroll and to check out some of the wildlife that frequent the pond. The shower shack has 2 separate 3/4 modern bathrooms with hot water showers and flushing toilets to be shared by all guests. Adjoining the shower shack is the "Clubhouse" and a basic outdoor kitchen with a sink and a few very used grills.  I have a large garden and often have extra produce to share depending on the season, past guests were offered tomato's, peppers, and squash along with farm fresh free range eggs all at no charge.  Lake Vermillion State Park is 6 miles away with swimming, fishing and paddling options. Rustic, Cozy, and Private studio apartment with a 3/4 bath and kitchen. The loft has a queen size bed, a gas fireplace for chilly nights and A/C for the hot ones. The barn loft was not used during the 2022 camping season and has since had new flooring installed and a plumbing issue resolved. The reviews from the 2021 seasons mention breakfast supplies that are no longer offered however there are a few basic pantry items and condiments as well as cookware and utensils.   The loft overlooks the barn yard and campground and is adjacent to the bird cages so the sound of roosters, peacocks, turkeys, and guinea fowl is to be expected. The lower portion of the barn is also home to dogs and cats and I did have one guest complain about the barn smell. Myself and 96% of my guests haven't had a problem with it but if you have a sensitive nose or are allergic to cats or dogs you should consider other accommodations.  I also offer 3 RV sites and 6 dry camp sites and they share a 2 stall bath house and a basic outdoor kitchen. At the rear of the property is a pond and some short walking trails that all guests are welcome to use... I will also be setting up a drive inn movie theater here at the farm this spring and with cooperative weather and enough interested campers show a movie around dusk... My tent sites won the Best Hip Camp for 2021 and 2023 and the loft will come with the same award winning hospitality.

Ready set camp is just that... a choice campsite set back into the cedars with all of the camping gear provided. a dome tent set up and ready to go with four cots, lamp, and alarm clock. There is a picnic table, firepit, and two chairs. With full access to the showers, bathrooms, and shared outdoor kitchen with cook-ware and utensils. All you need to provide is bedding and a love of nature.

the Hippie Bus

The Hippie Bus is a repurposed 1958 Superior Bus that was designed to take you back to the late 1960's to board a hippie bus traveling the country. It has a queen-sized bed in the rear and in the front a futon and table and chairs. But, and best of all is the onboard audio system, a turn of a knob and you can be playing some of the best "hippie music" from the late 60's and early 70's. Tie dye, a lava lamp, and some psychedelic lighting complete the groovy vibe. While the bus is pretty "Cool" It does not have air conditioning and can and will get hot in mid-summer. The bus does have a limited amount of solar power that will run a few fans provided with the bus. Also note this is still very much camping and bugs and uncomfortable temps are a definite possibility. The bus is parked in a large semiprivate meadowlike area a very short walk from the parking space with great views of both the sunrise and sunset. The site does have a firepit and outdoor seating and could accommodate several tents for a larger group So the site will allow bookings up to 20 people but only sleeping accommodations for 3 in the bus are included. The bus does not have a private bath or kitchen but you filthy hippies are encouraged to use the shower shack and outdoor kitchen roughly 200 feet from the bus. Long haired freaky people welcome.

Uncle B was awesome. He was so accommodating and definitely went the extra mile helping us get our RV hooked up in the rain after a long day on the road. He even put together a small gift for our newborn son which was so sweet. We came to stay en route home after our wedding and he made our stay so memorable. 100/10 would recommend staying here. We will be back!

I went by myself to Uncle B’s farm and he made me feel right at home! He gave me a tour of his farm and helped me start my fire each time. He is very welcoming and genuine. His facilities are clean and he has a fun trail to venture into to find little easter egg type monuments.

Brian was a fantastic host; friendly and helpful, although his co-hosts Frankie, Johnny, and Dibs really stole the show. (Frankie, Johnny, and Dibs are dogs.) The camp is well-maintained, far enough off main roads to feel quiet, and, for fellow solo travelers, I felt very safe there. I just used an RV site, but if you are looking for a fun “glamping” experience, the converted skoolie on property is absolutely adorable.

Had a wonderful overnight stay on the hippie bus. We were welcomed to the campground in the warmest way, equipped with hippie gear (peace necklaces & rose colored lenses) s'mores kit and campfire wood. The campground had very nice bathroom/shower and kitchen areas. Highly recommend Uncle B's for a relaxing camping experience.

We pulled up just as the harvest moon was rising and felt right at home! What a bonus to see Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore and Red Rocks right there (IYKYK) :) Brian was welcoming, and had such neat touches to the experience. Flush toilets and warm showers to top it all off :)

We loved staying at Uncle B’s Hipcamp! We ended up being the only campers that night so we got VIP service, although I bet he treats everyone like a VIP - he’s that kind of guy. When we arrived we got a dozen farm fresh eggs and he made my daughter a bracelet making kit with her name on it! Our dog had a blast running off leash with his dogs, our daughter had so much fun exploring and getting to meet the baby kitties! My husband and I also had a great time getting to know Uncle B and getting a tour of the camp. We built a great bonfire (wood provided by Uncle B!) All around great experience, I wish we would’ve had time to stay longer!

We had a great stay at Uncle B’s spot. The host Brian and his pack of pups and other critters gave us a very warm welcome complete with s’more fixins and a bag of treats for our dog. He’s great. A real fun and kind character that is so welcoming and committed to you enjoying your time at the farm. There’s lots of fun stuff to look at on the property and the facilities are well stocked and clean. He even invited us into his garden to pick some veggies for the road. If you’re in the area and need a peaceful and unique spot to stay, this is it.

We stopped at Brian’s overnight, traveling from Tennessee to South Dakota, but would have stayed several days if we had the time! His place is perfect! He has put so much thought and creativity into his place! It is a gem!

It’s glaringly obvious Brian really cares that his guests have a fun and enjoyable experience. The property itself is spacious and beautiful, there’s plenty of animal friends roaming about, a kitchen area, and full bathrooms with showers. We picked some peppers from the garden before leaving and took a tour of the property with Brian so he could show us some fun scenic spots he created. Campsite/amenities aside, Brian himself is a destination spot. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Uncle B's Farm is the best HipCamp I've been to! I was welcomed by Uncle B himself and all his animals. Free s'mores included! There is lots to explore on his property as well. I also left with some hand-picked garden produce. If you are passing through the area, don't miss out on camping here!

Brian's property was very well maintained. All the amenities were nice and clean. Brian himself was a very kind host. I would recommend his property to anybody passing through that area and I'll probably end up staying there again the future.

Excellent stop for a road trip
the Hippie Bus
Uncle B’s Farm was the perfect stop on our cross country road trip! It was a fun, comfortable, and relaxing stay after a long drive from Chicago. We experienced an amazing South Dakota sunset and sunrise over the vast landscapes. The hippie bus was very clean and equipped with everything we might need, including citronella candles for when it got buggy outside, fans, lights, and of course fun music! Brian welcomed us with delicious fresh eggs and vegetables which we used to meal prep burritos and breakfast in the morning. He was also very responsive, giving us recommendations for our road trip and even giving us some ice packs to use for our cooler. You can tell he really cares about giving his guests the best experience! Overall it was a fun and unique glamping experience, even for my boyfriend who is resistant to camping.

Groovy stay under stars

A friend of mine and I stayed in the Hippie Bus for a night on our way across country and our stay couldn’t have been better. Not only did we get plenty of fire supplies to keep us up to watch the amazing view of the stars, but the round the clock 70s jams were just perfect. Would recommend all around. Brian was very welcoming and informative with plenty of stories.

Where do we begin?! The host went above and beyond! You are not going to get better service from anyone more than Uncle B himself. He welcomed us with kindness, gifts of s'mores, firewood, hippy sunglasses and necklaces, hot wheels for our little boy, bracelet kits for our little girls, a word search book, and a Swiss Army knife for our teenage son. The gifts were so perfect and beyond generous! Uncle B was outgoing, friendly, thorough with explanations and just made us feel very welcomed! It rained right before our arrival, so everything was muddy, and we didn’t get to take full advantage. But, the opportunities for enjoyment and relaxation were endless. We enjoyed walking the little trails to find “landmarks” and loved the peacocks and turkeys. My husband especially appreciated the shower after two days without a real shower at other hipcamps! The game room looked like a lot of fun and the playground was quaint as well. Just seeing those things made my kids happy. The bus itself was really well decorated. We loved all the lights and the continuous (optional) 70s music was neat! Our oldest daughter said she felt like she was sleeping at home because the bed was so comfortable! We all loved Uncle Bs and truly appreciate all of his hospitality! He’s created a special place out here and he was very good to us! CAMP HERE IF YOU CAN!

It was very serene and peaceful and the host Brian was very Polite and courteous and very helpful he gave us a tent top for our tent cause we was using a tarp for the top of our tent. Free wood for your campsite fire pit every camp site has theyre own. And the bathrooms are a great bonus full size showers and a sink ,toilets HOT WATER!!!!💯💯💯 🔥

Brian provided information on a few local sites to visit on our way to his place, and was welcoming upon arrival. He gave us a golf cart tour of his property and shared some produce and eggs with us. The site was level and we were the only RV there for the night. We got to see his guineas, turkey, peacocks and dogs. We didn’t use the shower and bathroom but it appeared clean. Brian was very friendly and we would definitely stay there again! Thank you for your hospitality!

We love love loved Uncle B’s farm. Brian was so welcoming to me, my partner, and our dog. He greeted us with a s’mores kit, and even gifted us some fresh vegetables on our way out. There were so many friendly animals wandering about the property — chickens, doggies, ducks, peacocks, etc. And the place was quite scenic, with some Easter eggs planted around. Amenities were everything one needed and more. There was a fire grate for cooking. And it was huge to have access to a clean bathroom with showers. All in all, we didn’t want to leave.

Our stay at Uncle B’s was very enjoyable! We stayed in the Hippie Bus, which the kids loved; with its fun lights and very comfy bed. Everyone slept great! The property itself is beautiful, and he made it extra fun with trails and “monuments”. Our kids would say their favorite part was all the animals. We saw turkeys, Guinea fowl, a peacock, chickens, his friendly dogs and shy cats lol. The accommodations were more than we could ask for, and it was amazing to see how many people from all parts of the world had been there too! Last but not least, Uncle B himself was more than helpful. He’s generous, kind, full of stories and has a genuine interest in those who come to stay at his property. We enjoyed the conversations and can’t thank you enough for this experience. What a way to kick off our week-long adventure. Thank you, again!
