Richie was a great host and the shack was cute. The land is just uphill of the host's main house. You don't have to worry about the shared property because he respects your privacy. He said hello to us when we arrived and then we saw him again just before we checked out. It rained each night we stayed here and the shack kept us warm and dry.

Fun spot, unique and had the right balance of creature comforts but still enjoying the outdoors and the things that make camping fun like cooking outside, camp fires, watching the stars, etc.

This place was more beautiful in person. I definitely enjoyed my stay here for a nice mind and body reset. Im use to primitive camping so this was like glamping to me. Definitely take the rain barrell shower if you feel up to it. The only things I feel others should be aware of is that there is no refrigerator, no working oven (the stove top part does work still though), no hot water unless you boil it, you have to provide all your bedding (except sheets), and the one and only door does not lock. It is just a simple glass door knob and thats it. As a solo female traveler I did feel safe here but as always I did have protection with me. When im camping in my tent I know it cant be "locked" but typically if im within 4 walls i would hope that I could. That won't stop me from coming back in the future but just so people are aware. Phone service was spotty for me but I did have some well on the porch anyways but not in the house.

Me and my friends loved camping on this land! It was such a unique piece of property and Richie was extremely accommodating and helpful. Loved the privacy of being surrounded by trees. 10/10 weekend.

What a lovely, eclectic cabin! All hand made, wonderful whittling work and decoration. Another building is in the process of being built and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. Far enough out of the way to see stars and enjoy peace and quiet while being close enough to get gas and basic items. Outdoor shower and toilet (flushable). Has all the basics and is an excellent t place for dogs! 1000% recommend!
The road coming in could get muddy during rain so a vehicle with 4WD is recommended.

Richie is a great host. The site is a wonderful retreat from a busy world. I don't know if you can all it a covered deck or a front porch, but that spot is simply wonderful. We stayed four days and it rained a little everyday, but on the deck/porch we were dry and happy. The rain sounded peaceful on the tin roofs. JZ, the camp dog, came to check on us now and again.
The cabin has a crafted, artist's flare. We were cool and comfortable at night. I loved the upstairs bedroom. Outside the grounds are lush with trees and bushes. The fire ring is well constructed and we had fires every night.
Pro tip: Write in the guest book before you start packing up. Sorry, Richie, that's on me, but I did draw a picture of the cabin.

Everything went well!! Richie is a kind a thoughtful host, he even built an outdoor shower for our stay! He told us where to find wild raspberries and to help ourselves to the veggie garden. The shack is cozy and eclectic; something different to see no matter where you look. Tons of electrical outlets, and the FANCIEST outhouse ever. Will definitely be back; I want to see how the place progresses!

Very quiet setting in a cute shack with lots of character! Watching the sun set off the porch then later the bonfire was relaxing. Richie stopped by a couple times to make sure all is well & share some of the history of the grounds, and his dog Daisy was friendly chilling with my dog.

We had an amazing time here! Richie was a great host and his dog Daisy was a frequent guest visitor to the site. We loved that there were so many unique features, from the inset glass in the cabin to the (flushing!) toilet set in the world’s coolest outhouse. The propane stove was a great thing to have access to when it rained and we needed to cook inside, and the property itself was gorgeous and convenient to hiking, Humble Pie (Coffee! Pizza!). The fire circle with benches and provided wood made for two great nights around the fire. All in all, a perfect trip!

Richie is a new friend. He was wonderful and so is the shack. We welcomed Richie to hang out with us. He built us a fire lickedy-split and we relaxed on the fire circle’s beautiful wooden bench carved from a single curved tree. My husband raved about the fresh mountain air. Our pets (cockatoo and dog) were welcomed. Tons of open space, natural forest, private, remote, comfortable, incredible charm. 9-year old boy loved it too. Richie builds amazing things with rocks and trees- you have to see it for yourself. Enjoy.

Richie was a fantastic host! Such a nice and secluded escape. Very comfortable bed and was quiet and secluded. Had a very rustic feel and showed a ton of creativity. More than enough firewood available for your use. We definitely recommend getting away from the world and enjoying this little shack surrounded by the woods.

Richie's place was absolutely perfect for what I needed. It was cozy. It was warm. It was comfortable and it was very rustic. What I especially love is that he was so accommodating to my needs. He was a godsend to me! It's also close to some beautiful waterfalls and lots of hiking trails and just a really gorgeous area. If you're going to that area I would definitely recommend it.

The Shack has a Renaissance feel. Serenity. The shack is well equipped for your basic needs. Comfortable space both inside and outside. Daisy, the host's dog smiles. She and host make you feel welcomed. The host is accommodating and knowledgeable. It was a joy spending three days there with my little dog! We look forward to a return visit.

Sweet little cabin, just what we needed! Richie was an excellent host. Quiet and relaxing. Dogs can run free. Primitive but had everything we needed. Will be staying here again….

We really enjoyed our stay in the tiny house. My husband, 3 fur babies and I came from Charleston to hike at the state park. We love the area and really loved the property. We really enjoyed the firepit and yard. We made dinner on the fire and played lawn games with the pups. The moon was full and the sky was gorgeous. Will definitely keep in touch and will return again!

We loved staying at this incredibly unique cabin! The location was fantastic, we had a great time finding hikes close by and then coming back to a nice cozy cabin. Would absolutely recommend a stay here!!

Richie’s shack was perfect for our trip. It came stocked with plenty of firewood, had cold running water, an amazing fire pit area, an additional Bonfire area, and a great flushing toilet (chair height, elongated bowl).
