Come and enjoy a traditional, rustic camping experience on the mighty Ottawa River! Bring your water shoes and a canoe or kayak (or you may rent one of ours) for an unforgettable adventure. Located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario, this beautiful forest is situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais. The 59 acre property (50 acres of land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking and more. The Point... The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. The Point offers a large picnic table, a propane BBQ, comfortable seating, a large rock perfect for sunbathing, and a river view. It's an ideal spot for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks, or paddle-board river excursions, thanks to its shallow entry and rocky bottom. Adventurous visitors might choose to paddle upriver, around an island, and return through the remaining historic canal. For a more strenuous workout, consider paddling up the canal to the Grenville lighthouse and then drifting all the way back to camp with the river's current. Enjoy this historic, lazy river experience! Nearby Amenities... Numerous amenities are located within a distance of 1-3 kms, including a gas station with electric vehicle charging facilities, an IGA grocery store, and various restaurants such as McDonald's and Tim Horton's. For a classic poutine experience, Jos Patate is a great choice, having been around for many decades. If you're looking for a wide range of poutine options, La Fromagerie is the place to go and for ice cream lovers, La Crémière is located in the same building! ...It is a "must-visit" on a hot summer day. Tourism... Numerous tourist attractions are conveniently located in the vicinity, such as the exhilarating white water rafting experience on the Rouge River and the wildlife-filled Parc Omega zoo, both within a short 10-25 km distance. For a wider range of activities, day trips to Ottawa, Montreal, the Calypso water park, or Mont Tremblant are all approximately an hour's drive away.

This perfect tenting campsite is airy but also shady, it is comfortable all day long and is my family's favorite spot to tent camp. The site stretches to the water's edge with a beautiful unobstructed view of the Ottawa river and features your own private deck with a couple of Muskoka chairs. The deck can also serve as a river-side tent platform, otherwise, your tent/s will be located a short distance from the shoreline, nestled among mature maples and oak trees. This site features a picnic table, fire-pit with a stainless steel grill for cooking on, and the parking is a very short walk away (~50 feet). The site is ideal for 1 or 2 tents but there is also additional space at the entrance to the campsite in the parking area should it be needed. *Note* This site is not ideal for rooftop or car-tents as they would have to be setup in the parking area, not in the actual campsite.

By removing a dense patch of invasive Buck-thorn bushes, we were left with this beautiful, large sunny campsite along the shoreline. It is great for car-camping, tenting or small RVs. A distinguishing feature of this site is that it is possible to launch your own kayaks or canoe, directly from this campsite and the Cattails (bulrush) provide privacy while sitting at camp and still allow beautiful views of the bay and river.

This large comfortable site has you surrounded by maple and oak trees which provide a nice sun/shade mix throughout the day. The Ottawa river is a very short distance away (~100') and there is a pathway from the site, leading to the water's edge and a private 10 x 10 wooden deck. Stress-free is the goal with this campsite, it is essentially a huge pull-through campsite, as it is located along a loop ("The Maple Loop"), which brings you back onto the main laneway.

We were the first guests to try out this new site, and we really enjoyed our stay! The site is spacious, with a lovely view of the forest and a very convenient location close to the bathrooms without feeling too close. The composting toilets were always kept very clean, with no unpleasant smell, and plenty of hand sanitizer was provided. It’s also just a short walk to the shore. Even though this particular site isn’t directly on the water, we really appreciated having easy access to the common waterfront area, whether to get out on the water or simply relax in one of the Adirondack chairs or hammocks available for everyone to enjoy. Brian is an exceptional host—genuinely kind, attentive, and always making sure we had what we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. A beautiful, peaceful place to camp, and we’d happily come back!

A few things we will mention but really there is much more that we could say. Space glorious space. Awesome departure point for kayaking. Friendly. Wholesome laidback feel. Level camp spot. Great fire pit. A wood deck by the water. Off grid. This place hit a big chunk of our favorite things. Thank you!!!!

Brien’s land is managed personally by Brien and ensures your stay on the site is as comfortable as it can be. He ensures you get familiar with the surroundings and proposes multiple activities around , including extensive historical facts. So, you’re in good hands, either in person or a phone call away. A good base for kayakers wishing to explore the Ottawa river up to Montebello, including la Rivière Rouge entrance.

We had such a wonderful stay at this campsite! The setting was beautiful, the campsite was clean and well cared for and it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Brian, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and friendly, which made our stay even more enjoyable. My partner and I had a fantastic time and would happily stay here again. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous property. Each site has shorefront - I’m talkin’ 4-5 feet from the shore! There is a nice group area with a screen room, gas grill, chairs on rocks over the water, oodles of water toys (canoes, kayaks, sups) or just wade out into the water. I was there in mid-August and was surprised that the water was nice, tepid-warm. There are two nice parks (under the bridge and next to canal), shopping, restaurants w/i 10 minutes. Plus, Brien is a fantastic host, welcoming and will share the history of the property and the area. I spent a week and enjoyed the property, exploring the area and Ottawa, but wished I could have stayed longer just to swing in my hammock next to the river. Thanks Brien, Jen, and the boys for a lovely stay!

We absolutely loved the site! The directions were very clear, and the host Brien was incredibly kind and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place! We even went swimming, the water was warm, and we really enjoyed every part of the site and everything it had to offer.

Gorgeous, natural property, warm river, oodles of boats/sup to play with, nice gathering spot with screen room and grill to congregate at, and wonderful hosts! Brien is a lovely host who tells interesting stories about the history of the property and area. There are a variety of decks and chairs and hammocks directly on the water to choose from. Definitely make use of the sups/kayaks/canoes and head up river to the bridge. There are two nice parks nearby (over bridge and by canal) and shopping with 5-10 minutes. Thanks so much Brien and Jen for a great week.

I loved tent camping on Brien's land. The view was beautiful, easy access to the river. The 2 other sites nearby were occupied and we didn't hear anything. It was a peaceful stay. I recommend greatly!

Very beautiful place!! So happy to have found it. The pull through site is very large and very easy to pull right in. Has a really nice little private deck right by the water to sit on. Hammocks all over, nice adirondack chairs everywhere. Theres a really nice common area with a mosquito tent with a table inside, a bbq and beach area! Nice place to swim. Brien is a fantastic host. Super friendly. Very responsive and accommodating. We will definitely go back!

It was my first time using Hip Camp and couldn’t have gotten a better spot. Brien was extremely welcoming and everything was exactly as pictured and described in the listing. The common hang out area for all three sites, known as the point, is great for swimming spot/lounging area on the Ottawa river. The site was quiet during the night and the pit toilet provided on site was clean. looking forward to returning the next time I visit Canada

We had an amazing stay this weekend, even though it was raining a lot! The campsite was beautiful, very private, and exactly what we were looking for. Brian was an excellent host—he came to welcome us, showed us around, and made us feel right at home. His communication was outstanding, and he responded to my questions almost immediately throughout the booking process. We really enjoyed our time here and appreciated how peaceful it was. We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

We stayed at the cattail site! Had a decent about of sun and shade during the day! Was large enough for 2 tents and a dinning tent! Swimming area was great! Bring water shoes or crocs. You can walk out super far. The kids loved it! Brien was great and helpful! very nice property! Corner store is like 2 mins away but you would never know from the site! Definitely loved it
