Let your children and dogs roam free without a leash. This property is remote and private. There are no neighbors nearby. This location is; twenty minutes north of I-76 Turnpike Willow Hill Exit forty-five minutes from Raystown Lake one hour and thirty minutes north of Gettysburg one hour and thirty minutes south of PSU three hours east of Pittsburgh three hours west of Philadelphia five hours west of NYC There is some cell service, but it is limited. Can you hear me now? Be sure to save site information on your phone before you leave, in case you lose cell-service. This is not Alaska, but it is not a KOA campground, either. We recommend you print of bring a paper map. Your GPS will not bring you to the exact driveway location. You need to be personally observant. This is the top of a mountain ridge. The access lane is steep, rocky, and has water erosion ditches you must drive over. Do not attempt this if you have a low profile car or a new/fragile camper. 4WD/AWD is highly recommended. Low profile and fancy cars are not recommended. This camping site is for those who want to live ruggedly like Lewis Clark. To see the water ditches you must drive over, go to YouTube and search "Wilbur's Shed - Blairs Mills", and it is the account of a cat with a white face. This location is in a mix of farmland and mountain Appalachia. You will see common species such as chipmunks, squirrels turkey and deer. Many bird species. There are also porcupines, skunks, and black snakes around. You may also see black bear - it is rare, but possible. You are visiting wildlife species in their natural habitat. Please be self-aware of your own level comfort with wildlife. Once again, this is not an RVs park where you will socialize with a hundred other campers. This is primitive and isolated. This is an ideal camping spot if you want to escape from people. Nearby is the Tuscarora Creek which is excellent for trout fishing. The Tuscarora has a small but lovely window for kayaking from mid-March through the end of May. Please contact the host if you would like help to plan some paddle logistics. Rental through Hipcamp does not include hunting or the use of firearms, nor the use of dirt bikes and ATVs.When my father died in 2020 I removed this shed before we sold my childhood home. You will not have to talk to anyone, but bring all that you need because there are no stores nearby. There is a clear night sky east and south for astronomy. You may walk and explore freely as long as you do not cross the well-painted white property lines. Twenty acres is tall forest, thirty acres is newly logged regrowth brush, and ten acres is crop field. Rental through Hipcamp does not include hunting or the use of firearms, nor the use of dirt bikes and ATVs. No consent is given to such activities, and nor is consent implied. People enjoy seeing wildlife in a relaxed state, and your payment to this campsite contributes to maintaining a wildlife conservation area. Do not inquire about hunting or driving dirt bikes/ATVs - The answer is NO.

When my father died in 2020 I removed this shed before we sold my childhood home. It measures 8' x 10' and you may use as you please. Great getaway spot! As an avid tent camper/hiker this place is everything I could ask for; remote, peaceful, well worth the trip. Perfect spot for groups of 2-4-6 people. Plenty of dead and down firewood to pull from the forest. Take care of this place. Be respectful and treat it as if it were your own. Host very cool and accommodating, hope to return soon.

This was an awsome spot. Great view and my dog loved it. Lots of deer and chipmunks. Great place. If you have pets make sure they are treated for ticks. There pretty bad

What a great experience. Wilbur’s shed is a perfect getaway spot. Everything is as described and super clean. We enjoyed plane spotting and the wildlife. Will be back for sure!

We couldn’t make it this year- overcome by events and adulting, but this is the spot we keep coming back to. Great spot, amazing night sky for photography, clean, and tidy.

We had a great visit on Wesley‘s site. The shed was awesome. The property was clean and the views were amazing. Extremely quiet and private! Wesley stopped by to say hi to us in the late afternoon. Super nice guy who’s got his hip camp stuff in order! Five stars

What a fantastic site. Directions perfect. Host checked in to make sure we were all set. Great ridge top telescope site for Eastern sky! If you need power but still want a remote site, it's a tall order, but you can find it here.

Great views, private, electricity is handy. We had a great time. Enjoyed going into Blairs Mills eating lunch at the family restaurant. As Wesley states, make sure you bring all of the things you need. Resources are limited in nearby towns. We also went to Cowan's Gap State Park which is lovely.

Wilbur’s shed is the perfect getaway. Definitely get family spot and awesome place for your dogs to run around. I find it to be handicap accessible for my rollator walker. We will be back.

I loved everything about this campsite. Very private and peaceful. The meadow is magical, wildflowers and wildlife were everywhere. The view from the shed is breathtaking and makes the perfect place to watch a rainstorm. I can’t say enough good things, we would definitely love to visit again!

Everything was as described, highly recommend! The views were amazing! Our Tacoma had no issues towing our 18ft popup along the steep driveway. Wesley stopped by to introduce himself and was very communicative when I had a question prior to arriving. Lots of wildlife. We plan on returning!

What a great find! Wes was a great host and responded to our questions within minutes. It’s a beautiful, private site with beautiful views and Wes goes out his way to make sure you have everything you need. Lots of little extras. We are already planning our follow-up trip to Wilber’s Shed!

As I was sitting around the fire with my wife I told her I would leave a bad review only to keep this a best kept secret. This spot is amazing, the simple fact of being away from everyone and everything is wonderful. Having our two dogs and kids both be able to run free without any worries of nearby campers or stranger and busy roads brings a whole level of stress relief that people with dogs and kids can truly appreciate while camping here. The amenities that are on site are very nice from power hookups to a portajohn, along with other small items such as cooking forks and potable water in jugs really assist in making camp easy. For those who are nervous about the drive into the site I’ll say this follow the mile markers from the major intersections and it will put you just about on par with the driveway. The drive up to the site has a couple small washouts that anyone in a modest clearance vehicle can traverse, and no I don’t mean corvettes or lowered vehicles you will be in trouble. But is like to think with some basic skill, a stock sedan could make it up there and suv/truck no problem. I will definitely be planning on coming back again and maybe for a longer trip with friends hopefully after such a great experience.

Great spot to get away from everything with amazing views. It’s a dogs paradise! I did see deer the first two days in the lower part of the field. The last night at dusk, I heard several turkeys but didn’t see them. There’s a swing that would be perfect for morning sunrise and coffee. The host is very kind and readily available. Can’t wait to go back.

This was my first stay with hipcamp and it was amazing! My husband and I will definitely be back to Wilbur’s Shed with our pups. The road up is definitely steep and rocky with some small but deep ditches. Definitely recommend 4WD, but wasn’t as bad as we were expecting! Download offline maps on google and you’re good. There isn’t much (ie; stores/activities unrelated to nature) in the surrounding towns/areas and that’s exactly how we like it. There was a fire pit, port a potty, 2 picnic tables & the shed (big enough for us to camp up in, tho we used a tent) all of which were so useful. The host, Wesley, left lots of firewood for us to use which helped a TON with the unusually cold weather we had. He also greeted us shortly after we arrived and was so nice and welcoming! (even though our dogs all barked at him… sorry again, Wesley! lol) Our city dogs had the time of their lives running all over the giant site. They had so much room to roam and didn’t even get near the property lines because they had so much room by where we set up. I worried about wildlife (and my dogs seeing it lol) but we didn’t happen to see anything but birds for the 4 days we were there. Cannot recommend Wilbur’s Shed enough, 10/10 experience!

Exactly as described and we loved it! It’s the perfect area, not far from the turnpike so an easy drive from the Philly area. First place I have stayed that offered electricity and it was so appreciated since we were winter camping and needed a heater. Port-a-potty was a nice added convenience too. We loved sitting in the shed watching the snow fall. Look forward to returning in the spring.
