Sunnyday's farm and forest was  a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and  woods. Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away.  Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away.  It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs.  We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables.. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents.  There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk!   If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

Hayloft over the horses

The hayloft is a working hayloft in a small horse barn. It is over the horse stalls. It's an open area large enough for 4 cots. You can also choose an unused horse stall if you really want to connect with the horses. There is a fire circle and logs to sit on behind the barn.. The bathroom and running water is 300' away in the basement of the house.. There is power and wifi in the hayloft. Other than having a floor and roof, it is roughing it. There is a large grassy area behind the barn for tents.  There is no vehicle access, and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. So if you have a pet, it will be in direct contact with the horses. The horses are fine with dogs that don't get in their face. If you have pets that might be an issue, please choose the cabin which can be isolated from the horses. The barn is about 100 yards from the parking area.   If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover. Highly recommend the horse back riding! What a unique offering with your cabin stay. I will be straight, the cabin is for true woodsmen - it's raw, it's that's your cup of joe, I highly recommend this stay, I had a blast!!

Gerald's beautiful place was peaceful and serene, with a very functional fire pit and picnic tables for s'mores and grilling. Would absolutely stay again and recommend to anyone willing to walk a bit to get away from the roads, it's worth it.

Hayloft over the horses
The Hayloft is not recommended for anyone, the host is good up until we arrived and ghosted us and not issued refund. Overall, the experience was really bad as the pictures described there were beds but there were none, and host told us to sleep on floor, and it doesn’t have good natural vibe as shown on pictures, it is full of dirt and smell all around the place. I haven’t got any refund yet I texted host couple times.

Hayloft over the horses
This is my second time staying on Gerard's property, the land is so lovely and quiet and full of life! I love all the animals, Gerard took his time to introduce us to all of them and allowed us to hold the ducks and everything. Always a magical time. The hay was so comfortable and smelled so nice.

We had a great time at the cabin! Gerald was such a wonderful host, it was a last minute kind of trip and he was so accommodating. All of the animals on the farm were so friendly and patient with my 4 year old son and 2 wild dogs. It was such a delight watching my son and bigger dog interact with the horses and Petunia the pig. My dog was off on his own hanging out with the horses and goats half the trip, I don’t think he’s ever had so much fun. He slept for about 24 hours after we got home lol. Gerald’s care and training of the animals is amazing. My 4 year old was riding a horse all in his own, my girlfriend got to ride an award winning shire, and I enjoyed the company of a kind and gentle pony :) . We highly recommend Gerry and his property and will be returning soon. Don’t forget to add some farm fresh eggs to your trip!

Amazing site! Be aware that the walk up the hill to the site may feel long if you're carrying many things, but it is well worth it for such a beautiful and excellent camp site. The horses were very friendly, and made walks back and forth to our vehicles a lot of fun. Made for a great weekend!

It was so fun meeting all the animals and seeing how happy and well cared for they were. Gerry is a wonderful host, personable and kind. We couldn’t have had a more wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Gem!
A Secluded Cabin With Horses
Beautiful camp with such a fun unique twist…camping at the end of a horse pasture! I booked this campsite last minute and Gerard was very accommodating. I slept in my hammock outside but the primitive cabin looked very nice and was great to have as a backup if it rained. Gerard’s instructions to get to the campsite were excellent, even though I arrived just after sunset. The outhouse was fine. The walk to the campsite was not a big deal. I’m not in perfect shape and the walk was easy, even with my gear. I wouldn’t want to take a wagon or anything with wheels since it is uphill and the path is a little uneven. The actual campsite is nice and flat. In the morning I walked through the pasture and greeted two horses, pig, and goats. I fed the horses carrots which lead to them eventually coming up to the campsite and looking for more treats! They were very friendly even though I was out of carrots. I can’t wait to come back. There is a little noise pollution from a few cars and if you aren’t used to rugged camping, be prepared to dust off some spider webs and dust off the cots and outhouse (totally normal stuff) but worth mentioning since this is a great place to try camping. I’ll be back!

We had a wonderful visit. My daughters loved interacting with all of the animals. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the sweetest pig. My girls explored the pasture and spent their time watching the horses.

A Secluded Cabin With Horses
This is our third time staying at this location. We will continue to come back time and time again. The spot is perfectly secluded with quick access to a nearby gas station for convenience needs, and the animals are so much fun. We hung out with horses, fed goats, and made great friends with the pig!

My girlfriend and I spent the night at Gerard’s property and it was absolutely wonderful. The horses were a delight to play with and ride. We did the 2 hour ride, and Gerard took us on trails and allowed us to do some jumps. Highly recommend Gerard and his property!

A Secluded Cabin With Horses
Farm full of gentle, well-socialized animals all of whom you can meet and accept treats as payment. The cabin itself is up a hill, a small trek past the horse barn and pasture. It’s the muddy season right now so Gerard lent me some mud boots and we managed okay. Cabin is pretty rustic and comfortable with a low ceiling. Plenty of firewood and kindling. Even damp after a rainfall we got a cooking fire going. The horses are well-trained and even-tempered, and a little mischievous. Mine could tell I was a new rider and fully took advantage of this to see what I’d let her get away with. She was still a very steady ride and a mature mare so this is probably a group of some of the easiest horses ever. The host is very relaxed and responsive and made it very comfortable to try riding.

Nice cabin in the woods

The host was very nice and accommodating. The cabin is nestled in the woods and is private. You have to walk approximately .25 miles to the cabin. The horses, goat, and pig were cool to see. Bring sheets and a sleeping bag.

My kids and I had a lovely time camping here! We were going to stay in the actual cabin but my kids were spooked by the multiple webs inside. If we stay again, I'll plan to bring a broom or ask for one to be there so I can go throughout and gather up all the webs quickly before the kids even get a chance to peek inside. It was too warm to use the wood stove but it would have been perfect on a cooler trip. I'd recommend a rag to wipe down the cots and mattresses if you end up staying in the cabin. It was nice and clean but I'd probably want to do a quick wipe down to get the normal "stuff" that settles on primitive surfaces after a few days. We ended up sleeping in our tent and hung out on the covered "porch" of the cabin during the rain. Jerry had dry firewood ready for us when we got there and was very quick to answer any questions I had. We felt very safe and relaxed during our time here! The trek up to the cabin took a bit more effort than I anticipated but I'm not complaining at all! Wear some boots and pack lightly so you don't have to make multiple trips like we did to get everything up there. The kids and I had a fun time sloshing through the mud and climbing the hill to our little sanctuary for the night. I definitely recommend Jerry's cabin especially to anyone looking to live simply for a little while. I may go by myself sometime just for my own getaway!

A Secluded Cabin With Horses
I couldn’t have asked for a better camping getaway! Everything in his description was accurate and just such a lovely space. Gerard was welcoming when we arrived and we got to spend some time talking with him and his family. The campsite is at the top of the pasture on a beautiful flat piece of land and the horses are so friendly! We got to feed them apples and carrots that I’d brought for them. We can’t wait to return to spend more time and hopefully book a horse back ride. We did pitch a tent although didn’t use it because the trees are just right for hammock camping! The cabin is as described and would be perfect for a winter camp out. Camping with horses and hammocks…couldn’t be better!!

Had an amazing time at Gerald's camp. My daughter loved the horses, goats and the pig. The cabin is secluded and feels like it's deep in the woods. The host was not home during our trip but still extremely helpful, checking in throughout to make sure we had a great experience. Will definitely be back !

A Secluded Cabin With Horses
Gerard was very accommodating by splitting extra wood for me, taking me on a horse back ride with his fiancé Kim, and sharing his knowledge on horses. The cabin was quaint and humble. The animals, adorabley greeted me. You are close to a highway so you hear a few cars at night. The concept of this mini, home-made, cabin is nostalgic & oddly cozy. I'm very glad to of had this experience and am thankful for Jerry's hospitality.

Secluded cabin with horse is exactly what you get! It was absolutely amazing.. the cabin was the perfect size to get cozy in, the horses were so fun and loving, everything was truly awesome about Jerry’s place. We took the 5 hour horseback ride, definitely did not disappoint!!!

I took my daughter here for her 10 year old birthday and we had a blast! We purchased the hour long trail ride and it was the best horse trail ride I have been on. Gerard took the time to teach my daughter about the horse, letting her help clean the horses hooves, brush, and get use to the horse in the arena. After the ride, we had a great camping experience and woke up to horses around our cabin. The horses are sweet and we spent the morning feeding them carrots and apples, petting them, and walking in the pasture with them. We took a fun hike to the old timey gas station and spent the rest of our morning with the goats, Petunia the pig, the rabbits and Guinea pigs, the dogs, and the rope swing. If you love animals, nature, and adventure this is the spot to be!

We had so much fun camping on Gerard's land! And probably drastically improved our cardiovascular systems. My children LOVED his animals, we were led to our camp by Koda the Husky and greeted by a pot belly pig, and three horses (among many others!).
