Mountain View Camping

Just got home and looking forward to the next time we can go! Quiet with only nature sounds and an occasional car. The rv was bigger than I thought. Plenty of room and well laid out. Close to lots of things to do in the area where we enjoyed Amish country, fishing at Mahoney Dam and hiking multiple places plus a good book sitting outside at "home". Evening campfires with Richard's perfectly dry firewood and glorious stars made our time the perfect getaway. Richard is a five star plus host. He checks in to make sure everything is OK and was quick to respond to messages.

This spot is lovely and very private. Richard was an excellent host - he greeted us on arrival and directed us to the spot, provided a map with local recommendations, and was accessible for any questions we had.

The area was great! No neighbors, bird tripping, nature sounds. Everything was great! The host was informative but he'll respond to you little late because there's no Internet reception in the area including the campsite. If you are looking for a cheap place to camp with no others campers then I recommend this one

Beautiful, Peaceful creek site

We enjoyed a lovely weekend Father’s Day camping trip. The land was lush, green, and peaceful. My daughter found a toad, at least 5 salamanders, and multiple bugs so she was pumped. The weather has been insanely hot, so the creek was a bit dry during our visit. There’s a bit of a trail to get to the camping site, so we needed to carry our supplies to the site a ways. Later we went to the Armstrong Trail and had the chance to check out all sort of beautiful waterfalls and rock formations. The owner was nice enough to check in and give us a map of the area with some cool sites marked. We had a really peaceful time and appreciate the fact that we were able to get away from the city for the weekend and enjoy family time.

Rick was a great host, he gave us a map of the area when we arrived and we also purchased firewood off of him which he delivered right to our camp site. The area was pretty well secluded. He also provided a shower setup in a tent near the site that was very nice to have. We will definitely stay there again.

Site 1 - Quaint camping near stream

Stayed with my sister here for a weekend and it was lovely. We got in late and Richard still came down to the parking spot to give us the eggs we bought and made sure we could find the tent spot. It was a thoughtful setup with space for a tent, a fire pit, grill, and a few other helpful items. We found it peaceful and quiet and loved falling asleep to the gentle sound of the stream. The stars looked fantastic every night too.

Cute little spot! Lots of soft, mossy grass to get up a tent on. Site 1 and 2 are close enough to see each other, but on opposite of the streams. So it muffles the sounds of fellow campers, which is nice. Rick was very responsive and kept our firewood dry for us before we arrived. The Compost toilet was also clean and not smelly!

First time staying in a RV camper was perfect for our getaway. Very reasonable accommodations, esp for the price. The gravel road was a little bumpy leading up to the site but exactly how the host described it. Since we were able to haul a boat trailer into the site, it turned out to be super convenient to get to the boat ramp early the next day. We caught some fish and enjoyed the wilderness and wildlife on the Allegheny River. Hoping to get back soon to do it all over. 👍

We had a great time! It was secluded, there was 3 tent sites in total, we had two of them, and they were far enough away for privacy and seclusion. Richard was very helpful, friendly and great to chat with! Since there is less people through there than a large commercial camp ground it was easy to find sticks, and the wood was cheap and plenty. The grills over the fire made it easy to cook, and there were little bridges on the property that were neat as well as functional to help you get around over the creeks. There is lots of hiking nearby, as well as a place a short drive away to jump off an old train bridge into the river. There is too much outdoor scenery to explore here for one stay. We would plan a trip back in the future. Thanks Richard! The eggs from your chickens were also delicious!

The area was very quiet and peaceful. I liked how secluded the campsite was and how easy it was to access. The only thing is, you do have to walk a minute or so to get to the campsite.

Richard an his wife are wonderful people it was great no issues at all we did some hiking we had fire pit nights under the stars slept in camper was nice and relaxing..... Saw deers there's two albinos deer listen to birds had breakfast an coffee out side loved it didnt want to leave am waiting to go back book with richard ps hope wifey gets better soon God Bless an Thank You..

My son and I had a great time tent camping here. We had the spot to ourselves and i enjoyed listening to the birds and trickling stream. The host greeted us when we arrived, handed us the firewood and provided a map of his land. He was kind and helpful. It’s a nice spot for a simple night in a tent or if you want to go for a hike and enjoy seeing more of a beautiful part of Pennsylvania.

We had a great stay at Richard's (Rick) campsite! Rick met us and showed the way to our site while also transporting a few of our belongings on his four-wheeler. Rick was kind and available to answer all our questions. The location was quiet and next to a little stream, and we enjoyed s'mores by the fire before going to bed. We highly recommend staying here!

Our wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful time staying at the RV and one night in the tent. Richard and Carla were extremely helpful throughout the stay and very accommodating. They recommend some great hikes in the area and we were able to go kayaking as well with the company OARS (highly recommend). They let us borrow their bikes to take a ride by the river as well. The roads are pretty steep and windy in the area, but there’s a lot of natural beauty worth experiencing! Great place for people who love the outdoors.

Mountain View RV Dry Camper Site

I cannot say enough good things about Rick and his family. They are thoughtful hosts, who have made sure that everything is set for a relaxing, comfortable stay, with the most incredibly peaceful surroundings. The Winnebago had everything needed for my stay, and the outside area was great for a nighttime fire, and what they're doing with the lush property is very exciting. It is so quiet, I was able to perform my yoga and meditation practices outside while staring at the gorgeous trees and/or stars. We got to visit a bit, and I can only reiterate that they are wonderfully warm, welcoming, and accommodating hosts, who understand the life of travelers, being avid explorers themselves. I cannot recommend this stay highly enough, and look forward to visiting again in the future.

A+ Stay - Swank Valley Camper

Honored to be the first reviewer for this A+ stay! Rich and fam have set up quite the awesome stay - can't recommend enough. The camper is spotless and extremely awesome - hot water, shower, toilet, power, AC if you need it, stove, coffee maker. Bed is a very comfy foam mat - if you are tall your feet might hang off the end, but that's camper life I suppose - I slept like a rock. Rich built a firepit w chairs and cool table to sit at outside, overlooking a magnificent little valley, with some very low level solar lights so you don't stumble off the side. At night there was thousands of fireflies all over. Rich and fam are great stewards of their land and have some REALLY cool ideas coming up to make the stay even better. They were happy to show and share the berries and veggies they are growing. The camper is about 30' from the side of the house, but the proximity didn't feel intrusive at all - no light, no sound. The plot is on the side of a dirt road that leads down to some great state game land with wonderful hiking - there was very minimal traffic and it was very slow and not intrusive when anyone drove by - noone went by after dark. There's two walk-in tent sites down in the valley but I wouldn't of even known they were there if Rich hadn't told me - buried in the woods and the entry path is down the street. I had a really great relaxing and just cool stay here and am so happy I took a chance on a new place. Its a great place to hang out, wander around, appreciate the surroundings and quiet. Rich also gave me a map w locals highlights that was really cool. Can't recommend enough! Great stay, great place, great people. Will only get better and better. Thank you!
