Grouseland's Private Campsites are located on top of our ridge offering a unique scenic overlook and a near virgin sky perfect for stargazing. We have 4 sites ready for you here at Grouseland! Please read their descriptions and book the one best for you! We encourage guests to bring dogs, however dogs must be kept on leads when on site or on leashes when on walks. There are no exceptions to this rule to ensure the safety of all of our guests. All sites include an allotted amount of free firewood, miles of hiking trails, and use of communal facilities including a hot shower and flush toilet. Tall Oaks Campsite: A small private site and is our only rustic style site, so no water or electricity, designed maximum 6 people with parking for 3 cars on site and space for 4 average size tents. This site has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, a bench and charcoal grill. Twisted Oak Campsite: A medium-sized luxury private site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for maximum 8 guests with parking for 4 cars on site and has space for several tents. This site has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, benches, charcoal grill, and on-site string lights. Red Maple Campsite: A large luxury private site that includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for a maximum 10 guests with on-site parking space that is 90ft long and 20ft wide, for an RV or 6-8 cars and overflow parking for several more cars. It is designed to be backed into with an RV and then pulled out of. This site can handle several tents and has two picnic tables, two portable toilets, a scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, benches, a charcoal grill, and on-site string lights. Aspen RV Campsite: A medium private luxury drive through site great for RVs, rooftop tents, pop ups or camper vans. This site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed with water and electric hookups for a single camping vehicle, maximum 6 people. This site is a drive through site, so guests don’t have to back in or out. This site also has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, charcoal grill, and a bench.

They are emptied on a monthly schedule, meaning there will likely be waste in them upon your arrival, do not expect a pristine unused empty toilet, their levels are monitored closely, and they are emptied sooner if need be. We do our best to prevent any smells by using the correct additives, but depending on weather and use frequency this cannot be guaranteed. Portable Toilets are set away from the site to help prevent smells from affecting guests. We are also in the woods, meaning that bugs may be attracted to the portable toilets, again we do our best to avoid this, but it cannot be guaranteed. Grouseland's Vacation Cottage

Our cottage is set back about a quarter mile from the road (all back roads here so minimal traffic noise), in nestled next to the pond in the middle of the woods. Guests staying at our vacation cottage are able to enjoy a furnished bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and dining/lounging space. As well as exclusive access to the pond (no fishing), dock, hot tub, fire pit, and large deck with a grill! Both rooms in the cottage are complete with a Fire TV logged into many of our streaming apps such as Netflix, Prime, Max, Disney+ and Hulu. To top it all off we are solar powered! Staying with us you are as close to the off grid as you can get without giving up the internet! Campsites are on the other side of the property from the cottage and campers are told that the cottage and pond are off limits and to respect your privacy. There are blinds on the windows to allow for complete privacy while in the cottage. We do live on property and occasionally drive past the cottage to get around, we try to keep this to a minimum and use quiet golf carts when possible.

Very pretty and more private than most sites! Be careful of the wind though, since it's on the crest of a hill the wind can get strong enough to flatten a tent if you're not careful. Overall very fun experience!

This was such a perfect spot for us to get away this past weekend. The site had all that we needed and we were personally meet by the host who showed us to the site and made sure we had all we needed.

Mason reached out to my wife and I days before our camping trip to inform us about camping at Grouseland. The day of, he messaged us for our ETA and then met us at the front entrance to guide us to our beautiful campsite. We stayed at the Aspen RV site. The hospitality, cleanliness and care that goes into Grouseland is impeccable. 12/10.

Tall Oaks Rustic Site
Beautiful campsite! We stayed at Tall Oaks and it was just as the others said - far enough removed from the other campsites and at the end of the access road so as to make it very private. The site included a grill, fire pit, trash bins, and picnic table which was immensely helpful! The only thing to be conscious of it that the main area to pitch our tent was relatively flat, but not perfectly flat. It was fine for 2 nights as long as you make sure you flip your beds around not to sleep on the downhill 🙃 All considered, we still LOVED this campsite and will absolutely return in the future!

Our group stayed at the Twisted Oaks Site! It was quite the view and a great get away. Our site was secluded and we didn’t get any traffic coming in and out. Totally recommend!! I loved the available benches provided by the fire.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Grouseland. Mason was a great host, he showed us our site and went over where everything was on a map. He and his family have amazing campsites with beautiful scenic overlooks. Their amenities all worked out perfectly - including your own private port a potty at each site (there’s also a camp house bathroom with shower - about a 5 min walk), picnic table, bench, charcoal grill, trash can, and string lights when it gets dark. It’s also a magical sight to see the mass amount of stars at night. We had a wonderful time and we will be back again. Thank you Mason and family for sharing your space.

Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate, but still had a great time. Nice to get away from the neighbors and relax with a great view out the window. Caught up on some reading and got some practice cooking on the new grill.

Tall Oaks Rustic Site
We loved our time up on the mountain! We were coming from the DC area and Mason was very accommodating for our arrival time. He met us as soon as we got there and escorted us to our spot. There was some firewood waiting for us and he answered any questions we had. The spot itself was spacious and well spaced out. We could see the lights from the next spot but we were at the end of the road and had the place to ourselves. The view was gorgeous, especially with the fall colors coming in. Each spot has its own portapot which is nice. Flush toilet, shower, and water supply were a short car ride away by the entrance. If you plan on having a fire going all the time you'll want to bring some extra wood or buy some in the area or off of Mason. This place is a great jumping off point for the surrounding towns and the country roads were a treat. We will definitely be coming back very soon! We both highly recommend this place. You are guaranteed to have an amazing, peaceful time.

This was the third year for us at Grouseland and it was just as amazing as ever! The views and privacy never gets old. Best weekend ever! Doesn’t hurt that we got engaged there this weekend! :)

Mason is a great host! We left a day early due to weather but the time spent was wonderful. Most beautiful area and camp site. Had the place to ourselves but sites are spaced apart nicely. Plenty of privacy. Will be back again.

Mason was very accommodating and the campsite was beautiful. It is a little rocky, so bring a good sleeping pad or use a hammock. Port a pot was clean, and it was nice to have trash cans, a picnic table and a sturdy fire ring. Looking forward to going back.

This is our second time camping here. We decided to go with the Red Maple site this time for some extra room. Mason, as always, keeps the property looking great. He's very helpful if you need anything, but isn't intrusive so you get a nice, private experience. Even with people in all of the sites around us, it was still nice and private. He's done a great job of setting the sites up to allow for privacy. The views are amazing. We'll be going here for years.

Tall Oaks Rustic Site
Tall Oaks Rustic Site: LOVED THIS CAMPGROUND! Beautiful views and a well-thought-out camp sites that are made for comfort and convenience. We camped during the week so we had the mountain to ourselves until Friday afternoon. Our campsite was the last one on the mountain ridge, so we were not interrupted by other guests passing by (when they did arrive). We were allowed to move the furniture so we placed our tent right in front of the overlook. The site had a hammock, grill, fire ring, firewood, trash cans, and a porta-potty, making everything very convenient. It does not have water or electricity, which may be an issue for some people. We had brought power banks, solar string lights, and solar fans. There is also a hot shower and toilet to use at the communal camp store if you need it. There is no bad view at any campsite but Tall Oaks is my favorite and has the most spectacular sunset vista. Mason was a great host, he is very welcoming to his guests, answers all your questions, and has impeccable communication. We definitely recommend this campground and we most certainly will come back again.

The Aspen site was perfect. This property has about 5 camp sites but they're spread out facing out along a ridge on the hill so very private from each other. Very quiet and scenic - had a great time! Have my own porta potty and the hammock made the stay super comfortable and the shop with shower is an easy walk in case you can't rough it 🤣. They also give you a free bundle of wood so was able to enjoy a nice bonfire as well. I highly recommend this site.

My 2nd time at Grausland and this time was soo much better, only because it didnt rain! I cant wait to visit again! Mason is always a great host and even though the campsite was full, we barely heard our neighbors at all. Wonderful time!

Our time at the twisted Oak site was phenomenal. The view alone is worth it. However, the amenities are just what you need. The fire pit is sturdy and large, our host Mason was available for every need, and we appreciated the size of our site. There was a ton of firewood available. And great locations to set up our hammocks. Just be aware that the site can be a little rocky. I’d recommend bringing a footprint for your tent and something to hammer your stakes in. We had a great weekend and we’re grateful for the hospitality.

Awesome site and great host. They formerly ran a bicycle shop here and they have great routes on brochures in the restroom. Bring your bike if you like back road country riding!

Red Maple Site (Water & Electric)
We absolutely loved camping at Grouseland (Red Maple campsite). The site was spacious, a great mix of shaded and sunny, with beautiful west-facing views. The latrines were clean, the hammock was relaxing, and there were recycling and trash cans. The check-in instructions were clear and easy, and we were greeted by Mason and shown to our site upon arrival. The string lights were a nice touch, but if you prefer complete darkness, you can turn them off. The site was private and well-spaced from the others. We found a great brewery in the Little Orleans to visit after our hike in the area. Buchanan State Park or Green Ridge are both nearby. We loved having a shower and "real" bathroom to use too. Overall, this is an exceptionally wonderful place and we were SO tempted to request another night but had to return home. But we hope to be back soon!

Tall Oaks Rustic Site
My husband and I had a great 2 night stay at the Tall Oaks campsite! It was very tidy when we arrived, and it felt private (other guests walked by with dogs a couple times per day, but otherwise you could just barely see one of the other campsites down the road). We appreciated the site-specific portopotty (which was as tidy as you can hope for), and the regular shared bathroom which was a quick drive away. It was quite hot during our trip but the many trees ensured that there was always some shade to be found. Beautiful view! Mason was friendly and responsive.

So many things to like. Site was spacious and well kept. Views of the country side were spectacular. Porta potties and bathroom/shower facilities were clean. We were there mostly by ourselves, and the quiet of the setting was absolutely peaceful! Our host, Mason, was welcoming and available for questions. We will be back for more of this joy!

I really love the view and the host was awesome. The site it self was clean, but extremely rocky with a lot of roots. I would not recommend for a tent or if you have small children with unsteady feet. Beyond that it was great. Oh bring bug spray lots of bug spray.
