Brookland is a wooded property tucked within a valley near the Delaware River. The site is directly adjacent to the North Branch of Calkins Creek. Campers will find a relaxing swimming hole, abundant wildlife, and privacy.
There is little to no cell phone service and no Wi-Fi. Cell range is a short drive away, with a map provided. Brookland is an ever-evolving, intentional space meant for quiet and respectful campers. An Outdoor/Indoor Kitchen greets you, and overlooking the creek is an open-walled pavilion. It provides a dry, safe place to camp and relax.
Two composting toilets, hand-washing and sanitation stations, an optional hot shower, and fire pits will make your stay safe, easy, and clean. The Pavilion over looks the creek and is nearby to the bathroom. This is the only site on the property and your tent will be set up on the platform of the structure. Relax with a fire in the woodstove or sit by the campfire behind the pavilion. Electricity available and easy access to the creek.
When not hosting campers, the pavilion acts as a mediation space for many local facilitators. We host sound spas, yoga, journey's, circles, workshops, and retreats. Please respect the space as a Shala by removing your shoes and keeping it clean.
Please be sure to bring a flashlight and closed toe shoes. This is a wooded property with roots, rocks, wild life, and fresh mulch for landscaping. There is electricity in the pavilion and the kitchen, but not the bathroom.
The bathroom is close by and is equipped with 2 composting toilets for #2. It is important to #1 in the woods. If you are not comfortable or capable of doing this, there is a pee chair option with sanitation. A hand washing station is available. Please be sure to follow the instructions carefully to keep things from smelling and attracting flies. The Kitchen is a short walk up the hill towards the entrance of the property. This is where you will stop on your way in to load any food items into the refrigerator and drop off your cooking supplies. The kitchen is for one person at a time and meant to hold all the supplies and food. Outside, a small deck housing a table and dish washing sink is the place to prepare your meals, and then bring it inside to cook or cook over the fire nearby. It is imperative that all dishes and food are cleaned up and sealed prior to going to sleep.
