Located 26 miles south of Burns on Highway 205, The Narrows RV Park is the perfect base camp for your exploration of Harney County and Southeast Oregon. The Narrows is just steps away from Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, and provides easy access to other high desert attractions such as the Steens Mountain Recreation Area, The Alvord Desert, The Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge and The Diamond Craters Loop. Our quality amenities go a long way towards making guests feel comfortable, like they’ve found a home-away-from-home. This is a very quiet, beautiful area nestled between the Steens Mountain and the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge for amazing hiking and wildlife spotting (especially birds rarely seen). We have up to 15 Tent Camping sites where you can comfortably pitch your tent on our spacious grassy area and the RV Restrooms and clean drinking water are near by. We also have regular RV sites available for your Van, Camper, Trailer, Motorhome are also available that come equipped with water, sewer, electricity for an additional fee. On the property we offer The Jackalope Bar and Grill, Fully Stocked Mini-Mart, ATM, 3 Complete Bathrooms with hot showers, Self Service Laundry Machines, Gas & Diesel, Propane, Ice, Site Patios and Fire Pits! We have everything that you’ll need right here at The Narrows so that you can focus on exploring the rich wildlife, or just rest, relax and recharge. ABOUT: Malheur National Wildlife Refuge - The incredible Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is part of the Pacific Flyway and offers 320 bird species, 58 mammal species and 10 species of native fish! It truly is a mecca for birdwatchers from all over the world. We are conveniently located within a 5 minute drive from the visitor center, which you should certainly explore. The Refuge is open daily with the sun, opening at sunrise and closing at sunset. ABOUT: Steens Mountain One of the great geologic features of Oregon’s Great Basin Desert, Steens is one of the most scenic regions in the West, with peaks rising as high as 9,700 feet. Expect to see herds of wild mustang roaming free and beautiful wild flowers blowing in the wind overlooking incredible vistas. Steens Mountain is just waiting for you to experience its majestic beauty.

This is a very quiet, beautiful area nestled between the Steens Mountain and the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge for amazing hiking and wildlife spotting (especially birds rarely seen). The cabin is located in a quiet, spacious corner of the park surrounded by luscious green grass and beautifully shaded by a majestically full willow tree. Inside this two room cabin you will find two Queen size beds and pull out sofa accommodating up to 6 person.(s) The kitchen area is equipped with a microwave, mini refrigerator, stove burners, Toaster, Coffee Machine, dishes and utensils to help prepare and serve meals. All of which to help make this your home away from home. We also offer on the property 5 Complete Bathrooms with hot showers (Showers are coin operated, $2.00 for the 1st 2 min. and $.50 for each minute thereafter), Self Service Laundry Machines, Gas & Diesel, Propane, Ice., and Fire Pits And just a few steps away we also have The Narrows Mercantile and The Jackalope Bar and Grill. *We are pet friendly and welcome your furry friends, but a $25.00 non-refundable pet cleaning fee will be collected at the time of check in.* We have everything that you’ll need right here at The Narrows so that you can focus on exploring the rich wildlife, or just rest, relax and recharge. Very pretty! Lots of bugs due to the grass being wet but a very quiet location overall and very well managed! Staff were wonderful and kind too!

In the middle of nowhere and nothing special, but it was perfect for crashing for the night on the way back to the airport. Only one other tent camper while we were there so there was plenty of space. Bathrooms were clean and hot showers were a bonus.

I’m really glad that I booked the Narrows for a 3-night stay. Tina was welcoming and friendly, the bathrooms with showers we clean and large and there was everything that you might need. The WiFi wasn’t great, possibly due to the fires but I would definitely stay here again.

Clean and quiet campground that's incredibly close to Malheur. We spotted lots of birds at the campground, including a common nighthawk that slept on the fence just outside our tent! The bathrooms were cleaned and well maintained. Despite booking the site the night before and before the start of a long holiday weekend, we were able to check in with the RV host and get the information we needed.

We definitely enjoyed the small plot of soft ground/grass for our campsite. If you camp in a tent, you’ll be next to a bigger lot for RVs but it wasn’t a bother. Very nice views and very friendly hosts. Food from the restaurant also smelled great!

I loved camping under the willow tree here! The restaurant had a delicious Rueben sandwich and fries that I would definitely recommend. Very clean, quiet, and relaxing.

Beautifully located close to the Steen Mountains and Alvord Desert. Hosts are wonderful and helped sort out my mistake (booked a tent spot but needed an RV). Locals seem to love the restaurant (I will try next time). Love the availability of amenities in case you forgot something. Restrooms were clean and the campground was pretty quiet. Lots of birds around.

Very sweet place to stay on the way to Alvord. Super nice hosts; there is a restaurant and shop on site. Be prepared to wait for food prep but worth it! Gas also on site which was a blessing as there isn’t much else around. My dog enjoyed running around the off leash field adjacent to the campground. Would stay again!

This is a great little RV park with an open grassy area for camping right by the Malhuer Wildlife Refuge. They have a great little General store, Cafe, and Saloon/bar plus gas on site so you can get anything you may need while staying there. The folks that work there were very warm and helpful. They had solid suggestions for what to check out nearby. Its excellent if you are into birding or stargazing. You're right next to the preserve but just far enough you don't get mosquitoes.

Really enjoyed my stay here. My husband and I tent camped and the grassy area we set up at was very nice. The bathroom access was amazing to have on site and bathrooms were kept very clean. We spent most of the days exploring the area and it was nice to have the saloon to grab a beer and eat some dinner at the end of the day. The food is really good! The hosts are beyond welcoming and we will back when the snow melts on Steens.

Nice RV park with camping spaces. I was in an RV. Very quiet. Nice bathrooms. Good store and restaurant. Very quiet and even quieter at night. Malheur Wildlife Refuge Headquarters are just down the road.

I went back on my way home and got the sane location. I won't repeat my feedback from my initial review but it all still applies. I'll emphasize just how nice the people at this site are. You feel at-home... and are treated like a real customer... something missing at other locations. The shop on site is great, too. Everything you need from supplies, gas to great coffee. This will be a regular stop for future southern trips I take.

Not fancy but nice. We got a spot right on the edge of the property far from the highway. It was well equipped for us with a picnic table, stove stand and firepit. We got firewood, coffee and change from the store (which has a restaurant that i didn't try). A few things to note: bathrooms are clean but showers are $2 so bring money. $2 for washing and $2 for drying... 2 bucks is a magic number. That said, the washer / dryer were awesome and got jeans clean and dry on a single wash & dry. A nice stop and one I'll consider on my way back...

Great place! The ground was soft enough that a very thin mat kept me and the kids happy for the night, we heard cows and coyotes, and even saw a helicopter take off in the morning!

This was a great option in a sparse area, with the extra benefits of electricity, laundry, heated bathrooms, and showers. Overall a place to get your bearings and recharge for the next leg of your journey. Surprisingly quiet considering the nearby road and fully occupied RV section of the park.

Great place! We felt really spoiled staying at The Narrows Cabin. It is a beautiful cabin, super well equipped, and has a lovely view. We used the laundry room and the showers (coin-operated, shared). Had an excellent experience, with two little girls (1.5 and 3.5 yo). They even washed our dishes at the restaurant! Unbelievable.

The pictures for this campground suggested a grassy area for tent camping. Google maps also showed two separate tent and RV campgrounds at this location. In reality we were given a narrow, gravelly RV lot located among many other RVs. Prior to arrival, owners of the campground were communicative and helpful via text. Since we arrived in the evening, it was understandably hard to get a hold of the owners to ask about the discrepancy between the pictures of the campground and our allotted site. When we called the number offered on Google as the business number, the person on the line said they'd planned to put the tent campsites in the grassy lawn but had decided it was too buggy. However the RV lots were also extremely buggy as night fell, so I am not sure the situation would have been worse in the grass. We would not suggest this campground for tent campers. There is no real area for tent camping as advertised. It was difficult to stake the tent in the gravel / asphalt and unpleasant to be camped in a cramped spot among rumbling RVs.

Cute little campground. Clean bathrooms. Yummy breakfast at the restaurant. 30min to Crystal Crane hot springs. Would stay here again !

Good flat site on grass and soft soil. Just a stone's throw from the RVs, but human noise was minimal. Access to plumbing was a nice perk, and proximity to Malheur NWR was ideal - got a headstart on the birding with tons of meadowlarks, orioles, and nighthawks at the site itself and a few bonus visitors too. No problems with the reservation, would definitely recommend.
