If you’re looking for a great spot to stay for a night or two and break up your journey, this is the perfect place! The land is beautiful and peaceful, and Aaron was such a responsive and welcoming host. Highly recommend!

We found the site just fine, but it wasn’t clear exactly where to set up camp. We followed the directions, but the last part that said to turn left after the driveway and go down 50 ft wasn’t possible because the brush was growing wild and there was no path, so that was a little confusing. So, we just camped in a clear-ish spot close to the road. Everything else was as advertised, and it was great for the price!

Awesome site! Lots of solitude (minus some gunshots, but that lasted like 15 minutes tops and is to be expected in the country!) and super easy to find. An amazing spot!

Well, unfortunately I was not able to find the listing, and unfortunately, Aaron was not available when I thought I had arrived at the spot - his text reply did not come back till an hour later. I was bummed because he did get very good reviews for communication. Since the sun was going down after a very long drive through the states, I didnt want to take a chance at the wrong spot (some Hipcampers are people of color and we cannot take chances with arriving at the wrong destination). FORTUNATELY, my instincts said to move along and find something else - and Junipers RV park was like a beacon for me. Perhaps Hipcamp can work on the sites that are being listed without addresses. This is very challenging for some of us. My suggestion to Aaron would be to make a sign that reads PhewPine Ranch. It would do wonders to help a weary traveler identify when they have arrived and to feel welcomed. Every experience is a chance to grow ~ and Im getting better at finding my spots and asking questions.

Beautiful open field for camping. The stars at night were incredible, and the milky way very visible. For nature lovers: it's a beautiful and mostly undisturbed sagebrush habitat with flowers and grasshoppers all around and cows just across the road.
There is a gravel turn off but the rest of the road was a bit overgrown or bumpy in places. As recommended by another reviewer, best thing to do is pull off, park, and walk to see how far in you'll be willing to drive. The location itself was very accessible from the road and we had no trouble finding it.

Very nice spot, quiet. This was just several miles from the highway and was so convenient as a safe place to camp with my dogs on our road trip. Aron was super helpful and responsive. There is national forest nearby which had great places to walk the dogs. A very good hipcamp experience and I will stay again if I am passing through.

The description is fairly spot on. I had a nice time staying out in this open valley of sage brush. It is near the Hart Mountain Petroglyphs, and while secluded quite close to the welcoming border town of Lakeview Oregon. The host was very responsive to texts about finding the location when I had trouble finding it, and I had cell service there. There was a river running through the valley, and cows wandering around the highway on the way there. The best thing about it was probably that I saw my first badger out in the wild, but if you're not so lucky there are many hawks searching the skies, and coyotes calling out at night.

After a long drive on the Oregon Outback Scenic Byway, Phewpine was easy to find, close enough to the main drag, but far enough away to find that right amount of solitude. The meadow was beautiful, dispersed camping at its finest.

Had to hop back on to tell you all how wonderful this one was. We had a group of 9 people and 4 sites. We did a poll after our two week trip and by far, this was the BEST place we stayed. Stargazers be advised...NO LIGHT POLLUTION!
We saw Jupiter and its moons along with Saturn and its rings. The milky way was out in full force with shooting stars and satellites easy to see with the naked eye. We weren't lucky enough to see any cows come by, but maybe next time.

We had a great time! Tons of space for our 3 trailers. Private and exactly as described. It's a bit bouncy getting in, but well worth it. Host was very responsive to numerous questions. We'd stay here again.

Lovely piece of land that was a convenient stop in a remote area. We had a little trouble finding where to camp, but the host was helpful and responsive. The area is quite large, so you have to drive off-road a ways. This was a little dicey for us because of the car we were in. Best thing to do is pull off the road, walk around the area until you find the fire pit and then determine how far in you want to drive. Be patient, be curious and you will be a happy camper here. Best for tent campers who don't mind exploring or car campers who can drive off road safely.

The good:
Host was in contact.
It was right off the road, which is great for pulling right off the road when your driving through.
Cows wandered by in the morning, not bad.
The other stuff: gravel.
Tents may not want to go here. Was level enough to park.
A few forest service vehicles drove by at about 10am, didn’t stop or cause any bother.
