Nestled at the edge of a UNESCO world heritage site, and a 5-minute dive from Big Rideau Lake -- part of the Rideau Canal System, Stonegate Farm is a remarkable 1830's property; virtually unchanged since it was carved out of the local wilderness some 190 years ago. The historic stone farmhouse, outbuildings and majestic post-and-beam bank barn, originally built to support a 200-acre dairy farm, now sits on 50-acres that features waving pastoral fields, tranquil maple forest, and serene wetland. Our camping sites are located at the edge of a beautiful old-growth maple forest, with two sites on a stunning and peaceful ridge, overlooking a unique wetland where migratory and song-birds flourish and waterfowl and wetlands animals congregate. It is an amazing window into the way this incredible unique ecosystem looked hundreds of years ago. Private secluded sites to reconnect with nature and /or the perfect base from which to discover the many unique regional attractions and experience the great outdoors. The natural beauty of South Eastern Ontario is at our doorstep. Bring your own tent or rent a tent and equipment at the time of booking. We look forward to hosting you!

A beautiful quiet campsite (on a wooden platform) on a 50-acre property. Super-secluded, and located on an ancient old-growth hardwood ridge overlooking an incredible vibrant wetland filled with songbirds, hawks, eagles, herons, and other wildlife. Amazing star-filled skies and the sounds of animals calling across the night skies. Amenities include: toilet, potable water, metal gazebo shelter for food prep and eating, fire pit/campfire pit and seating. Bring your own tent or you can rent a tent by adding it as an extra at the time of booking (see all extras below). Nestled in the beautiful Rideau Lakes region, at the edge of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere, a UNESCO world heritage site, Stonegate Farm provides a relaxing atmosphere to unwind and rejuvenate. Glamping like never before in Portland, ON / Elgin, ON. Luxurious camping in a tranquil maple forest, nestled at the edge of a UNESCO world heritage site, overlooking serene wetlands teeming with wildlife. Our quiet rural setting, free from light and other pollution, offers endless enjoyment under a starry filled night sky. The off-grid 14' x 20' canvas tent is situated on a 6 foot raised platform with a 14' x 10' deck, to the front, overlooking our private wetlands; and a 14' x' 10' bathroom attached to the rear of the tent. Our bright, spacious, modern bathroom has a low-flush toilet, wash basin, outdoor shower (with hot water), wardrobe, towels, bathrobes, toiletries, and a clear corrugated roof to take in the daylight and night sky. The tent is fully furnished with a plush queen bed and bedding, seating area to lounge, table and chairs, sideboard with all your dinning needs along with a coffee/tea station. We use solar energy to run lights and a charge station. Outside you'll find a cooler, bar-b-q, patio furniture, food prep area, fire pit, etc. for your camping needs. Unwind, relax, and rejuvenate; reconnect to nature in luxury and discover the natural beauty of South Eastern Ontario.

Site 3 - Glamping Under the Stars
Warm feels – The host was really friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. No surprises – The tent was just as it appeared in the photos (always a plus!). Cozy feels – Extra blankets were produced when the temperature dropped to 0°C. Saviour. Campfire goals – David had kindling ready for the fire each evening. Complete vibe setter. We were also offered a bottle of wine at the fireplace, how kind. Breakfast bonus – Home-cooked breakfasts from scratch? Alone, worth the trip. Garden perks – Had the chance to pick fresh vegetables that they grow in their garden. Yes, please! Glamp life upgrades – Real toilets + a legitimate shower area = a luxury in the woods. They also have a power outlet inside the tent, which is a big plus. Hot water hiccup – The hot water heater malfunctioned one day, but they got us up and running again quickly and even offered us a breakfast discount. Tip: Check if the hot water tank works when booking. Chill zone – Hammock time and well-spaced tent sites = chill time. Booking heads-up – Prices may vary slightly (between $ 65-100 CAD) across booking platforms, so compare them before making a reservation. The host and Hipcamp couldn't help recoup the difference. Final takeaway – Seriously, this house gets glamping right. So comfy, thoughtful little touches all over the place, and just the perfect combination of rough + cozy.

Site 1 - Maple Forest Camping
The place is beautiful and peaceful with a great view of the marsh and its fauna. I was warmly greeted by the host, David, a very kind and passionate person who helped me to carry my camping gear to the site. Site #1 is definitely the best place to experience a close connection to the wild life of the marshland, see and hear many types of birds with an occasionnal deer passing by. The site is very private with a platform to pitch the tent, a gazebo, BBQ and a fire pit. Great bonus at the site were the firewood and water provided by the host. I would surely come back here and recommend this place for all nature lovers.

Site 2 - Maple Forest Camping
My husband, 8 year old pup and I had a terrific stay on Dave and Alicia's land. We were greeted with a friendly welcome by Dave and given options of where to stay given the recent, very rainy weather. We expected to just be tenting out in a lovely field, but what we got was much more! A tent had already been erected that housed a table and chairs, a clean little privy (like from a boat), potable water and a light! This immediately notched the experience up to glamping, as instead of getting our tent wet on the soaked ground, we immediately decided to just move some things around and sleep inside there! We all slept well and had a beautiful sunrise to greet us in the field the next morning. Dave was a very friendly and generous host. The Harlem Stonegate B&B is also lovely; we think we'll need to come back and stay there some day as well!
