What Guests Can Expect Bear Camp is a rustic, off-grid retreat in Northern Ontario. Expect a natural, quiet setting with tall grass, uneven ground, and no modern hookups — just raw land, forest, and the wide northern sky. Guests are welcome to make their own trail from the clearing into the cedar woods — a peaceful walk for those who enjoy quiet moments among the trees. A small creek (Running Bear Creek) runs through the property. Please bring your own drinking water or use the creek for washing. There is no garbage pickup — pack out what you bring in. Rental Options Small trailer (sleeps 1–2): $50/night — parked at the edge of the cedar forest; includes indoor washroom, hydro, fire pit, and outdoor seating Cleared land (tent site, back area): $20/night — bumpy trail; best for off-grid tent campers RV/Van spot (near cabin, easier access): $40/night — flatter area; no hookups; self-contained units only Self-contained RVs or van campers (back area): $30/night — no hookups; must be able to handle a bumpy trail (may be improved by your arrival) Bear Camp is best for guests who are self-reliant, enjoy stillness, and don’t mind a touch of wilderness. Friendly pets are welcome with notice. 🌲 Check-in is 2 PM to allow time between guests to refresh the site. If the trailer or campsite was unbooked the night before, early arrival (as early as 9 AM) may be possible — just send a message to ask. Bear Camp runs on nature’s rhythm, not hotel clocks. 🌞Guests have access to a private space nestled at the edge of the cedar forest, with plenty of room to sit outdoors, enjoy a fire, or simply take in the quiet. The trailer sits on a cleared patch with natural privacy — ideal for solo travelers or a couple. Amenities include: Indoor washroom Hydro/power inside the trailer Fire pit and rustic outdoor seating Small table space for meals or writing inside the trailer Activities & Access: Guests can walk directly from the trailer into 12 acres of forest — choose your own path or follow the land’s natural clearings. Bearcreek runs through the back of the property, offering a peaceful spot to sit and reflect. This is a quiet haven for birdwatching, stargazing, and deep rest. Bring your own food and drinking water (or use the creek for washing). Perfect for writers, quiet travelers, or anyone needing a true pause in nature.
