Nice quiet place to get away. Kids and I enjoyed the stay, trail down to the river spot is a nice addition in my opinion. Tight in some areas but I was able to get my full size duramax no problem definitely would recommend a 4x4. Had a nice breeze all 3 days which is nice in June weather.

Great secluded spot.
If you like back woods camping on the river, this is the place to go.
Beautiful campsite right on the river. As others mentioned the drive in is a little rough, but I thought it added to the appeal. The fishing was great and the views are amazing. It is a beautiful area of OK. David was very polite and helpful. A+ camping!

The land and river was beautiful. If you are car camping, make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle, otherwise you will need to carry your gear a decent distance to the campsite. If you had backpacking gear, I think you would be fine.
Really enjoyed my stay here. Past reviews are correct about having a 4WD vehicle to get to the site. The waterfront was great with a beautiful sunset and sunrise.
This is a great spot. The sound of the river lapping was incredible. We will stay again.
Be aware that Google Maps will direct you to the neighboring driveway at the end of the road. Back up to the previous driveway and you will be good to go.

It’s truly a hideaway! From the moment we checked in with the host on Friday, we didn’t see another soul all weekend — and that’s exactly what made it perfect. The peace and quiet here are unmatched. The forest around camp was alive with sounds of nature, and we even had a family of raccoons wander by one evening (so definitely keep your food locked up!).
The views are absolutely breathtaking — sunrise from this site is something you’ll never forget. I captured a few photos from sunrise and even some night shots, and they turned out incredible. This place would be magical in the fall when the colors start to change.
Just like other reviewers mentioned, having a 4x4 or AWD is smart. Our Crosstrek handled it easily, but if it rains, things could get interesting.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded getaway surrounded by nature, Hickman Hideaway is exactly that. We left feeling recharged and can’t wait to come back! 🌲✨

It's a very isolated and comfy camp site. We loved our stay. Only word of warning is make sure you have 4 wheel drive or at least are comfortable with a hike to the site. The owner was fantastic and we are very likely to return.

The camp host was amazing, he definitely helped us out. 4x4 required! We parked at the front and hiked in. But the camp site was great and right on the water. Highly recommend!
The camp ground that we reserved was not what the picture showed that we reserved that is by the river. We were told that's not what we reserved but the email we received to verify our reservation had the picture of the spot next to the river at the top of the email. The actual spot he had for us was in the front of the property about a 15 minute walk to the spot we thought we were getting. The woman helping us before he arrived walked me to the spot we thought we were getting to show how far away it was. When we got there it was not even as the pictures show it. It was way more slopped and very grown up. After he found out we were unhappy with the spot and did not want to walk 30 minutes round trip carrying our fishing gear he became rude and condescending. When I tried to show him the email verifying the the reservation with the picture next to the river he said "No, that's okay" and refused to look at it. He said for a refund we had go to the Hipcamp web site so we did and the host was supposed to approve it but he let it expire. I'm still trying to get my refund yet he will not respond to the email to be able to get your approval for the refund. The pictures are misleading on the web site so if someone would like to get back with me on how to get your money back you can e mail me at michaelwaymire71@gmail.com or I will have to get a lawyer involved

I camped for a week at the river site and it was a fantastic time. It is 100% private except for the occasional barge. The site backs up to forest which feels 20 degrees cooler so it'd be great during summer. The shade is plentiful! I will be back for sure. The path down to the site can be a little iffy so I'd recommend 4x4 if there has been recent heavy rainfall.
The hosts are some of the kindest people I have met. They are warm and genuinely care about your experience.
Very friendly and accommodating host. This site has lots of potential with nice water and electric hookups. Still being developed and they offered me a refund, but we decided to stay and had a nice quiet stay. Beautiful part of Oklahoma.

I loved this camping spot. Best spot I've ever camped hands down. The privacy and quiet is unmatched, but if you need anything the host David is a text away. You'll lose signal a few miles from the spot but at the camp sight there is the perfect amount of signal for keeping up with the weather or an emergency. Great fishing, plenty of firewood and tinder to scavenge. Beautiful views, very low light pollution at night. If you don't have a 4x4 you should pack a hand cart to help get your gear to the camp site. Bugs are a problem in any site as primitive as this, but I didn't get a single tick or bug bite. I treated all my gear, clothes, tents, chairs, even my dogs with permethrin (you can find it at Walmart or on Amazon), and I also paired that with picaridian spray on any exposed skin. Thank you David! for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. We enjoyed every moment at Hickmans Hideaway.
Secluded spot right on the Arkansas River. Tight double track to get back there but once you arrive it’s just you. We saw several barges come by and while the water isn’t clear you can walk for quite a while in no deeper than knee high water out into the river.
Cool spot for sure!

Beautiful spot. We caught some fish had plenty of peace and quiet, and the site was pre-stocked with fire wood. I'll definitely be enjoying this spot again as soon as possible.

Tent site was secluded and beautiful. Easy to ask the host questions and had fire wood available to use. My friend and I took our boys for one last tent camp for the fall season and this spot did not disappoint. Boys enjoyed climbing, magnet fishing and watching the barges go by at night. Definitely adding to our favorites for tent camping! Thank you for sharing your property.

The site was lovely. It was quite the jaunt from the car with two carts of gear. We were grateful they had a cart for us to use along with our own. The water was too shallow for swimming or fishing. There was a large bag of trash already there when we arrived. There was no way we could pack that out with us. Other than waking up to hundreds of daddy long legs on top of the tent (typical) the mornings were gorgeous. Sunsets were just as beautiful on the water and we even saw a barge go by in the night. Lots of large trees and wildlife to be seen. overall a lovely time!
Great private spot! The location was perfect on the river. Plenty of shade throughout the day. I got my 4wd with a rooftop tent right against the water. So relaxing and great responsive host!

We ended up not staying because we had a 45ft 5th wheel RV & dulley truck. Trees & pull in area not good for oversized.RV ....property is good for normal size 35 ft campers. Tents, primitive camping.. Host was very nice & helped turn us around. Land needs more clearing.
If you are looking for something private and quiet, this is the place. We were the only campers there. If you have a Atv to get to the tent site, I highly recommend it, as long as there are no other campers there. We actually loved the tent site; it was amazing. We took our camper, and we were the only ones there. David, Daisha, and Sam were very helpful. It was our first time camping, so we had to learn, and they made it so much easier. There is a dump site close by at the state park. Very tranquil atmosphere.

We had a camper van by ourselves in Peacock Pines, a lovely, quiet stand of pines on the property. David was friendly and responsive, helping us with a hose, wifi troubleshooting, and more. The 10-min walk to the river was idyllic and featured his peacocks and goats. Steve the dog was an excellent and respectful guardian.
Right up at the river. Very serene and quiet. If you don’t have 4 wheel drive, the walk from the car to the campsite is about 1/4 mile. Bring an outdoor wagon or consolidate your stuff. You don’t want to make more than 2 trips.
Great site. If you want secluded and fishing this is your spot. David was awesome, very accommodating.

David was one of the best hosts I’ve had. The site was beautiful and well maintained. RV sites were well spaced and provided enough privacy should other campers show up (we were solo so it was perfect). David showed us to the local spots for fishing and swimming which were also private. I will definitely be back to visit again. Truly a hidden gem.
10/10 we camped in this spot for two nights and it wasn’t long enough. The farm is gorgeous and the riverside camping spot is a place you don’t want to miss. This was my first tent camping trip in over a decade and David was very helpful and made sure that we had water and firewood. I can’t recommend this site enough. I loved every moment there. For additional swimming and water recreation Greenleaf state park was just up the road, making our camping trip even sweeter.
