16 ft travel trailer
Prairie Retreat was a great place to camp. We spent three nights there and really enjoyed how peaceful and quiet it was. The campsite was easy to find, easy to access, and simple to get in and out of. The hosts live nearby, but they were very respectful of our privacy and gave us plenty of space to enjoy the campsite on our own.
We also want to echo a helpful tip from another Prairie Retreat review: if you’re looking for a full gym or pool workout—or simply need a shower—the West River Community Center is just a short drive away. Day passes are very reasonably priced, and the facilities are top-notch.
We can’t recommend Prairie Retreat enough and would definitely stay here again.

Quiet spot!

This is a very nice and quiet spot for our four night stay. It was a perfect base camp to run into Dickinson to see our son, go to Big Sticks games, and visit some local eateries. We spent a day in TR National Park and visited the new Presidential Library (highly recommended- advance tickets required).
The weather ranged from 100 degrees when we got there to 40 degrees in the morning two days later. We had some rain and wind and our host was nice enough to leave a note checking in to make sure everything was ok.
There is a friendly resident cat that unfortunately our dog didn’t love. But it was no problem. She just stayed away.
We arrived in the dark, but the directions were good and the site is well marked (with directions).
Perfect for a one night stop over or extended stay if you are self contained (the Dickinson Community center is really nice and has showers 😁).

A safe, quiet space near town for amenities and close to highway for convenience when traveling through. Flat, gravel pad. Brand new picnic table and fire pit overlooking farm fields. Very responsive owner.
