This spot is awesome, especially considering how overrun some of the campgrounds are nearby. Tom welcomed us with open arms at his lush 30-acre farm camp along the Broad River. There are a ton of great spots to pitch a tent here. Find a cool one (literally) next to the river (but obey LNT!) or under one of the property's large shady trees. On the Friday evening of our stay, Tom and Jen, another farmer there, were having neighbors over for a potluck dinner, featuring some of the farm's delicious veggies and greens. Luckily we remembered to bring some beer to share, while the neighbors brought their dogs, local cheeses, and sausages. It should go without saying that this experience went above and beyond our expectations! While Tom graciously cooked for us, he shared some local insight and had great recommendations for nearby spots, including a neighborhood brewery I had never heard of (and I'm from 10 minutes down the road!). Tom and Jen have a wealth of organic farming knowledge. Tom has supplied produce to top chefs in Asheville, so you know he's legit! They would love for visitors to get dirty and help out, but they won't be offended if you aren't able or don't have the time to offer a hand. We ventured to Rumbling Bald near Chimney Rock for some world-class bouldering and then to Asheville for lots of beers and good eats. This is a gem of a spot with lots to see and do nearby. Tom has some big plans for his treasure of a spot, including platforms for camping and a bathhouse, so make sure to come by! Definitely not to be missed!
