This spot was awesome! One of our favorite HipCamp sites to visit for sure – we will certainly be back. It was super easy to get up to the site and a very beautiful drive. I'd recommend an AWD vehicle to get up the mountain, but to be honest, I saw a Honda Civic drive by once doing just fine and if one has experience camping (read: not glamping) you should be able to get up in most vehicles. The site has two fire pits, a picnic table, and a latrine with instructions on how to use and the smell was never an issue for us – it was located out of the way, out of sight, but close enough that a mid-night run wasn't too bad. There are two trails on the property that we attempted, and we weren't able to go too far on the second as it was very steep and our gangly puppy was having a time (there were ropes to mark the trail and the trees were marked, and the ropes were helpful if we would've been sans pup). We opted to walk up the windy gravel road, just enjoying the absolute quiet, beautiful mountains around, and all the smells (hound pup). It seems the mountain likely has an association of some type and all those owning land/little cabins keep to themselves and understand the value of being in the (accessible) wilderness. The main campsite has a hammock nearby, and another campsite with a firepit a stone's throw from the main site. Overall, beautiful views, exactly what was promised, firewood to keep us warm, and a great weekend in the mountains.
