Wonderful stay at this HipCamp site! The directions were clear and easy, making arrival seamless. The location is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, scenic, and well cared for. Jess was fantastic and incredibly helpful; her recommendations were spot-on and made our stay even better. Everything about the experience was outstanding, and even our dog loved the space. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

What an incredible spot. Stayed 4 days in late November. Perfect middle ground balance between primitive & glamping. We were able to see the top of Mount Mitchell & Max Patch on the same day & arrived at Max Patch just in time for a stunning sunset without spending a cent except for the fuel. The rest of the time we just enjoyed the campsite & drove around a bit locally. The campsite itself is absolutely lovely & quiet enough that we didn’t really find the need to do much else. The owners of the site were supremely polite & kept to themselves. The platform was large enough for one 2p & one 4p, with space enough for a “kitchen” table on one side. Pitched a tarp over the whole thing and were happy with the setup, even when it rained on day 3. If I had any complaints, I’d only say as a heads up if you’re looking into staying here that the WiFi down at the fire circle & tent platform is supremely sporadic & a bit temperamental. Frankly, for us it was welcome since I’m on-call all year for work, & it was nice to put the phone down & gift my kid that 90’s pre-cellphone experience. Fantastic spot, hope to be back some day.

We loved camping here! We enjoyed the quick trip up to Max Parch per Jess’ suggestion. Having a bathroom close by was amazing. Also, the coffee pot saved us from the chilly weather in the morning. We easily purchased firewood and it was brought right down to us. We also purchased some sour dough bread from the host and it is INCREDIBLE! Calm and serene for a good weekend reset

Honestly, the best campsite experience I’ve had on Hipcamp. The site was perfect. Well made platform for tent. Good fire pit. Secluded enough for no light pollution or traffic, but we felt very safe and comfortable. Creek side for the best camp sounds. Hosts were very accommodating and responsive. Would highly recommend.

Jess was so accommodating! This is the perfect spot. Very close to Max Patch. Having access to the bathroom was so kind and thoughtful and made it feel like glamping even though we were in a tent! I can’t wait to come back. Also her sourdough and muffins were to die for!!!

Such a beautiful and peaceful place! The campsite is surrounded by nature — perfect for stargazing at night and relaxing with the sound of the creek. We had a wonderful night staying on site! The wooden platform made for easy set up, and we appreciated chairs being on site. We loved listening to the creek as we fell asleep. Access to a bathroom was also very helpful. The host was very responsive, hospitable, and super helpful as we may our way in and out.

Jess was a very welcoming and accommodating host, and the location of the property was ideal for hiking Max Patch and some other beautiful spots in the area. It was especially nice to have an option for a campsite that isn’t at a shared campground—this spot is a great mix of privately tucked away and yet close to the house and the road that leads to it.

My girlfriends and I gad the BEST time at Jess’s little Creekside sanctuary. It was so nice falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the creek and nature. Jess went out of town for the weekend after welcoming us and allowed us to use her porch, which was very handy when it rained, and roam around her beautiful yard all weekend. Access to the toilet, sink and refrigerator/freezer in the garage - a very short walk from the tent site - was a very nice and appreciated perk. Jess was a wonderful host, even from afar. She sent check in texts and was easily accessible if we needed anything. My only suggestion to future campers is to bring a good, thick and comfy sleeping pad, as the tent site is on a wood platform. You also MUST go hike Max Patch bald (20-25 minute drive). It’s a gorgeous 1.5 mile hike through wildflower meadows to a breathtaking 360 view of the mountains when you reach the top.

Jess was the best hostess + is so kind to share her piece of paradise. The platform was perfect for our big tent that sleeps our family of four + our four dogs! The dogs were able to run around the campsite off leash and enjoyed playing in the creek. This is the most perfect spot for a quiet, secluded getaway. Even though the site is nestled between 2 private roads, there were very few cars passing. Jess was super attentive, and the toilet availability was 💯.
Being lulled to sleep at night by the babbling creek was just the cherry on top. Such a special place for my family to enjoy a secluded, screen free place in nature. Highly recommend trying this site out 🏕️✨

Jess was an excellent hostess. The instructions were clear, the site was prepared, and it was simple to park and setup camp. The site itself was secluded and perfect for an escape. Also, Jess made an excellent homemade sourdough bread! Loved it all.

This campsite was absolutely wonderful. The host was incredibly kind and thoughtful — many things were already well-prepared, which made our stay very comfortable.
The location next to the stream made it especially relaxing, with the soothing sound of running water throughout the day. It’s also perfectly situated for hiking nearby.
One of the highlights was the fireflies at night — there were so many, and it made the whole experience feel magical.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature!

I loved tent camping on the platform at Jess’ site. All five of us enjoyed the white noise of the creek, fireflies, and stars at night and Jess’ adorable dogs, delicious sourdough, and amazing hospitality by day. Jess was very generous and helpful and her property did not disappoint. Max Patch is easily accessible via scenic gravel road. General stores within 15-20 minutes with most necessities.

The most perfect campsite to hike Max Patch. Jess is a very kind host! She even had a fire going for us when we arrived which was incredibly welcoming. Even though we had a lot of rain, everything went smoothly - I would recommend this camp to anyone no matter your experience. A good idea would be to bring some paracord to secure your rain fly as the tent will be on a platform, so be prepared in case of weather.
The trees and creek are very peaceful.

We really enjoyed the campsite Jess has created on her property! She was very kind and communicative throughout our stay. It has a great deck area for your tent right next to the creek… a great fire pit area with plenty of seating already available, and a perfect spot for us to hang our hammock. We were camping with our 7 year old son so having the access to the bathroom located in their barn was super helpful. Her dogs were very cute and brought a whole new level of comfort to our stay. One of our new favorite spots for sure— We are already looking forward to coming back this summer!

This was a great little spot that fit our needs perfectly! It was so beautiful and relaxing. The satellite WiFi worked perfectly and everything was set up well. Jess is an awesome host who had great information for the surrounding area and was always quick to lend a helping hand if there was anything we needed. Clyde and Tigress were also great camp hosts and made us feel right at home. We can’t wait to stay again!

We had a wonderful time even though it was short! Jess met us on arrival and showed us around, which I gotta say you have a beautiful property! We loved the barn conversion! We went during a burn ban so no open fires were allowed, Jess let us bring a little wood stove that kept the camp alive! Next time we’ll hike and explore max patch due to it being so close. Overall a great stay for a couple or a family of three, the creek has a pretty strong current so I’m sure during the summer that would be a really nice spot to cool off!

Jess's land is amazing. The perfect getaway for our weekend. We fell asleep listening to the babbling stream, and woke up to birds singing. Jess is wonderful and welcoming, her dogs Clyde and Tigress were an adorable and unexpected perk! The site is between two gravel/dirt roads, however while we were there there were very few cars and they didn't really bother us at all.

Jess was awesome!!! She’s a great host with the best friendly little dogs. She even gave directions and I ideas of hiking trails and waterfalls in the area. Wonderful spot with a great host. Bring a coat…. It gets cold 🥶. Definitely will go back!
