Two Hawk Ranch is comprised of 12 acres of high mountain valley meadows, hay fields, Acequias, trees and the Rio Chiquito. Yes, we are located at approximately 7,800ft elevation. My husband and I stumbled across this beautiful and serene property by accident in 2020 just as Covid hit. We feel blessed to be here and feel the need to share it’s calming, restful qualities. We have three adult children and have three grandchildren. We also have eight international children as we hosted international students for four years. You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing. Learn more about this land: Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator. Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon. Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well. The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later. In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc. We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay. Can't wait to see everyone this year!Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. We have a 32 ft trailer and a gooseneck horse trailer. Unless it is very muddy, most locations are easily accessible.

Less than 30 amps. 120V plug nearby - most are 30 Amps or less. We are in the process of upgrading a few locations to accommodate 50 amps.

Communal. We have several portable fire pits and a couple large wrought iron stationary firepits. Wood (pine or oak) available on site. We also have an Horno off the patio for grilling, baking or enjoying.

Off leash. Please make sure they are sociable and well behaved. We have two Great Danes, a chihuahua and four ranch cats along with 4 horses.

Spigot, tap, hose, pump or well. Water is very good and cold. We can fill camper water at the house or the arena.

Trash bin. Located in the second barn. Please bag all garbage.

Cooking equipment present

Grill over firepit, bbq, communal, pizza oven. We also have an Horno if you know how to use it next to the propane BBQ.

You need to be fairly close to the house to pick it up.

Most sites are 2WD vehicle accessible or within a minute or two walk. 4WD helps if it rains or snow, but isn't absolutely necessary. The terraces are now only walk in available. We had so much rain last year that the road access has crumbled down to small vehicle access only (like our tractor). To access the area below the main acequia, a 12 foot culvert crossing is available. This will take you to the fields, arena, terraces and river.

Fun stay with great views!

Sherry and Dennis were very easy to communicate with and super helpful (to include lending me a small bike pump)! At first I was intimidated by the dogs but they were super friendly and we became besties in no time! I also got a visit from their sweet barn cat at least once a day! But the steal of the show was waking up every morning to those lovely horses! Their calm demeanor and loving energy just made the stay that much more enjoyable. I stayed for 3 nights and would come back in a heartbeat for those views and all the animal love 💕

Incredible Host, Views and Animals

We loved our time with Sherry and her animals while we worked out of our camper during the week. She was an incredible host and we even managed to take a horseback ride one day after work. It was an incredibly beautiful area and we had plenty of shade. We’re so grateful for our time there. Thank you, Sherry!

Very quiet place and perfect host

Perfect welcome from Sherry. Our arrival was made easy from the moment we booked until we left. The place is buccolic and charming. The sunrises are particularly beautiful. Electricity is provided, but if you're a bit squeamish, the water hose, although potable, is the same as the one used to water the horses. The horses are quiet and curious. Quiet and peaceful, the temperature is changeable but cool and pleasant. A good base camp for activities in Taos.

Bucolic stunning views!

This was a great find for us! Sherry's ranch is located in a beautiful area. It's green, it's hilly, it's got mountains in the background and the vegetation is abundant. It's the picture perfect bucolic spot. The views from the field where we set up the camper are stunning. Add to that a friendly host, friendly horses, friendly dogs and a friendly cat and it's all good vibes there. Very well located too. A short drive to Taos and other beautiful spots. Sherry is nice enough to open up her house if you need to use the bathroom. Personally, we felt a little strange about invading her privacy so we limited it as much as we could. If you don't have a bathroom in your camper, I would recommend a portable toilet. This is a great spot to relax!

Great host and great relaxing stay. We took our 22 travel trailer and had plenty of room and places to pick from. We also took our two small dogs and I had no concerns. Their dogs are just big friendly curious pups. Sherry was easy to communicate with before and during our stay. We will be back.

Enjoyed our ladies getaway trip visit at Two Hawks/Aspen Horse Camp with our horses. Nice, open private spot in her hayfield with a beautiful view of the Jicarilla bald mountain. Weather was perfect and the full moon was spectacular. Riding was beautiful exploring nearby old forest roads, some good footing opportunities to giddy up and didn’t see a soul which always makes a perfect ride. She has a few horse corralling options. We enjoyed the visits of her big babies too, amazing to meet these beautiful dogs up close! We will definitely plan to go back, thinking trailering to nearby trail riding at Santa Barbara Campgrounds next time.

Bucolic and Historic Setting

The ranch is located in a gorgeous little valley with historic farms, ranches, and villages. Close to Taos and the Enchanted Circle. We stayed in our RV there for three nights...it was very quiet (except for the vocal coyotes - which we love to hear) with great star viewing. The meadows on the ranch are bucolic and peaceful. The dogs are huge but are big babies. Sheri is super friendly and helpful...we clicked as we learned that we are both hydrogeologists! We definately plan to return!! Krista Dearing

Stunning horse property

Drive from town is 100% worth it. Beautiful horse property with plenty of space to spread out. Who doesn’t want to wake up next to horses and a stream. And the horses loved our kids and dogs! We would absolutely stay here again but for longer next time.

Beautiful, quiet, and green

Sherry and Dennis's land is beautiful! We camped in a pop-up camper on one of their hayfields right after they had cut the hay and baled it. There's beautiful views of Jicarita mountain and other surrounding mountains. The area is very green during the summer and the nights were cool which was welcome during our record highs in New Mexico! Sherry is very helpful and informative. The dogs were large and scary at first but very sweet once they became familiar with you as a visitor. If you are tent camping or using a camper that does not have a toilet it's important to realize you have to go to their home to use the restroom. If they're out in the fields working or gone, the restroom is not accessible. That can be difficult. There are many hikes in the area and we enjoyed going to Indian Lake which was about a 15-minute drive from the hip camp. It was a lovely hike! Sherry and Dennis have four horses and they were fun to visit with. The sky is very dark at night and the stars and Milky Way were beautiful to see! I really enjoyed camping at this spot!

Sherry and her husband were wonderful hosts! The campsite was great with two fire pit options for the wood bundle we bought. With warm showers, bathrooms, outlets nearby, a fridge we could use, and friendly pups and horses, we couldn’t have asked for more. My husband and I enjoyed tent camping on Sherry's land. Everything was as described. It was great having a bathroom with a warm shower. The bathroom is clean and well maintained. We also enjoyed all the animals from the dogs to the horses. Sherry was easy to communicate with before and during our stay. She is very kind and made us feel welcome. We were the only campers during our stay, so it was very peaceful. You can easily hike or explore Taos and Santa Fe for things to do.

Beautiful property! We had a great spot to set up our tent, bathroom access and a warm shower. We spent most of our time hiking in the Carson national forest near taos which was about an hour drive away but a beautiful drive along the high road to taos. Would absolutely recommend and hopefully will make it back to camp again!

The ranch and surrounding land are beautiful and we really enjoyed staying here. Sherry is very nice and helpful, she gave us a long tour of her land before we selected a camp site. We especially enjoyed being around the horses and spending time with them. We'd be happy to come back on a future trip.

Great stay in a remote location

The Aspen Horse Camping was the perfect location for the remote camping experience we were seeking. Our dog loved playing with the horses. We did not care so much for his interest in horse poop- but that’s to be expected on a horse ranch! Beautiful sunrises and vistas.

Kind and welcoming, beautiful view

Beautiful quiet flat camp spot. Sherry was so kind and welcoming. We ended up arriving after dark and later than expected and she had lit a camp fire for us so it was cozy when we got there. She let us fill water at the main house (not far away but far enough that we had privacy) and even let us use the main house bathroom and shower! There were outlets to charge our devices at the main house. Our dog loved it there too, he had lots of space to run around.

Sherry was super responsive and accessible! She has a lovely property with lots of space to camp and our puppy loved running around there! She has a couple cute dogs, 2 roaming cats and 4 friendly horses! It was really nice that she let us use her extra bathroom and shower after a day of exploring! The location was remote, but also close to tons of beautiful hikes and the artsy town of Taos. She said Santa Fe was only an hour away but we didn't make it there this time.
