If you’re not comfortable with a long gravel road that changes over time, this might not be the journey for you. At times it was a bit bumpy a the road changes from smooth to washboard, but patient driving (and airing down a few psi) can help smooth it out.
Once you arrive Jay is there to greet you. His chill vibe speaks volumes for what he’s building out there. It’s truly a beautiful space the likes of which I’ve never encountered before. We had ideal weather, a bit warm when we arrived with a light wind, cooling down nicely overnight. Endless stars and zero lights made for an epic setting.
At a minimum you’ll get dusty but if you’re not getting a little dirty are you really camping?

The spot was remote and a bit of a journey to reach, but I was interested in that, and considered it part of the adventure. Loved the peace and solitude of the site. Jay was a great host, communicative and friendly. The goats were a bonus! Recommend.

The host was friendly and helpful. Spot is very isolated but the host still had free wifi! The only thing is that it’s a 45min drive down an unpaved road to get there. Overall would recommend.

Location is remote, miles off the highway. The road to get there is unpaved and dusty but was manageable in a passenger vehicle. Your vehicle will likely get very dirty. After entering owners property you’ll encounter a steep dirt hill. We barely made it up and over on the first attempt in a minivan, but I imagine some vehicles might not make it up in the first attempt. There were no picnic tables and nothing was initially offered, but when asked the owner provided a folding table, which was helpful. No trees nor shade, but you get a scenic northern NV view. Porta potty was just fine, it may not get used much. No potable water readily available at the sites, but when asked, the owner said we could use a water spigot at his house. Quiet and peaceful except in the morning when owners animals were making noises. Goats were walking around in the morning and could become a nuisance but the owner didn’t allow them to bother us. Campsite was dirt and some rocks, but that wasn’t a problem. I purchased farm fresh eggs through Hipcamp but the owner didn’t have any available, which is understandable but I’m now trying to get a refund for that. Overall the experience was decent but some aspects should be improved for a top review.

Really cool place! Jay is a very friendly host. We had no problem getting up driveway with 4WD camper van. Beautiful views of high desert with Ruby Mountains in the distance. Great for skywatchers.

Nice clean quiet spot to set camp for the night.
Dirt road is well maintained. Once on property, the driveway is steep gravel which might pose a problem for some vehicles.

Jay's place is really nice with a beautiful view of the Ruby mountains away to the east. It very secluded and quiet, and a dark skies area, so the stars are amazing! Jay is a really warm and friendly host. The road in to the property is a bit washboarded and rough in places, but we had no issue getting in with our two wheel drive Sprinter van camper.
An added bonus is the large population of Western Meadowlarks that serenade you all day, but especially in the mornings. It's lovely to see the morning sun across the desert and listening to the birdsong while enjoying your coffee.

We would definitely stay here again! It was far out in the middle of nowhere but it was so worth it for the views and privacy! Beautiful land! Jay met us with fresh eggs and fire wood when we got there! He was super friendly and helpful! We will definitely stay again if we are ever out there again!

We appreciated this site for nice views..especially of Ruby Mountains, dark sky, and enough distance from neighbors and freeway for real quiet. Friendly host! We'll return as we drive through this area often.

This was my first time using Hipcamp. Jay was waiting for me as soon as I drove up the road to the property. Made me feel welcomed and at ease. Which is extremely important as a woman who often travels alone. Will totally come back again.

Spectacular 360-degree view. Very welcoming and attentive host. Well worth the drive in from I-80. Spacious sites. We ordered the dozen eggs, and they were fantastic.
You do need to be willing to negotiate a long gravel road (with some "washboard" sections). The final climb up the driveway appears daunting but easily negotiable in our Class B+.
All that said, we will be back anytime we are in the area.

Gorgeous views far from anything else. Jay was a friendly and communicative host, and has a compelling vision of what he wants to develop his property into. It's on a bit of a ridge and can get really windy at night though.
