We had the best time at Sudden Valley Ranch! Everything exceeded our expectations. The breathtaking views, the perfect camp spot (firewood stocked), gorgeous sunrise, sweetest pups, clean out house, beautiful horses, and the best hosts. We cannot wait to come back!

Spent a couple nights at the Pasture and Creek sight with our kids and dog and had a great time! Site was beautiful, spacious and had everything we needed for a convenient stay (kitchen set up and supplies, clean outhouse, fire pit with nice cooking grate). The hosts have thought of everything and it shows in all the details. We rented the game trailer as well and it was a great addition and got lots of use. We’ll definitely be back!

We had the best time!! Such an absolutely beautiful and peaceful spot. You can tell Randy and Melissa truly care about their property and go above and beyond to create a memorable experience for their guests. We especially loved how private and secluded it felt. It was so nice to feel safe, have our own space, and not be right on top of other campers. We can’t recommend this place enough!

We loved camping at the top of the ridge campsite. Randy and Milissa have a beautiful ranch. We had fun watching all the animals and it was nice to cool off in the creek. We hope to come back soon!

Randy was a great host, he showed my kids and I around the property, gave clear instructions for how to get to our site, and checked in on us a little after we started pitching the campsite. The site was beautiful, with lots of privacy, shade, an amazing fire pit, and some very thoughtful shelter and amenities. We woke up to horses grazing nearby and walked down to the creek with their amazing dog, Molly. The creek was clear, cool, and the water quality was excellent. 10/10 I’d visit again and recommend this for near to St. Louis camping spots.

A place of tranquility

This spot is amazing! It’s quiet and very private. There is a creek to walk in and a few pools to soak in. It is stocked with everything! The pit toilet is spotless! The fire ring is large and you can cook it in. There is even a BBQ to cook on with briquettes! I highly recommend pasture creek campsite! The owl even came to visit last night

Peaceful!

Love the ranch! Randy and Melissa made it easy for us to make a date change after I made a mistake during booking. The ranch is easy to get to. I love photography and the farm has very little light pollution which helps with night sky photography. We are happy to hear and saw a few owls perched on branches near us when the darkness fell. Early in the morning, the beautiful horses are out eating early, which made my morning coffee felt so special. Stroll around the farm I was looking for birds and was not disappointed. So many song birds in the morning. All and all, we had such a peaceful time sleeping under the stars hearing the nature and farms animals. If you want to get away from an urban life for a day or two, we are highly recommended Sudden Valley Ranch. Randy and Milissa are good hosts!

My mom and I absolutely loved our stay at Sudden Valley Ranch. We were greeted by Randy, who was so helpful and a treat to talk to! The property is beautiful with lots of fun wildlife. We particularly enjoyed the turkey and friendly dogs. Our site had lots of complimentary gear/cooking utensils to use while we were there, which was incredibly hospitable. The outhouse was clean and the water spigot nearby for easy use. We would happily camp here again!

What a hidden gem! Loved the hideaway campsite, very private. Randy was kind and helpful. No fish in the creek, but beautiful, crystal-clear water. Caught a few crawdads! I also got to pet the horses that came right up to the fence to say hi

This property is gorgeous. Randy and Milissa put so much thought and care into creating a peaceful campsite. We loved walking around the farm and spent a lot of time by the creek, it is so lovely and the frogs are so cute. The stars were brilliant at night and we even saw the pasture filled with fireflies one evening, that was magical! The campsite itself is so welcoming, a big fire ring, (wood provided), a picnic table, dishwashing station, bar b que and a pristine outhouse. They even have a cupboard with cooking supplies in case you need them. Our dogs loved it there as well, they could not get enough of the creek. We felt so relaxed there, it was truly hard to leave. Highly, highly recommend, it is a gem of a place!

So much to say about one weekend!

We stayed on the ridge with our private fire ring (stocked with wood) and private outhouse. The trees made it secluded and natural. The view over the pond in the morning is perfect from this site. Randy and Milissa are kind and thoughtful. We braved out a tornado watch in their kitchen chatting about our lives. We fed the horses, gobble gobbled at the turkeys as we walked by. Walked the property, hit up vineyards in nearby towns. Randy is an artist and shared his works of art with us. Definitely ask him to see! Fantastic weekend and will definitely try to make it back from northern Wisconsin!

Im hesitant to write this review because im afraid our spot will be discovered! Randy met us when we got there and gave a brief history of the farm, directed us to our site and other than that we really didnt see or hear anyone. They supply firewood for a HUGE fireplace, there is a cabinet with essentials, randy was quick to respond the 2 times I reached out, 1 for a bucket for water (its well water and literally the best water ive ever had) and another bc i burned up a ton of wood and thought we might need more. There's a creek that runs through the property that would be awesome in the summer, and they have horses, turkeys, and chickens that we saw. The only thing I would consider a 'negative' is youre in nature and they dont nuke it with pesticides and the ticks were horrible. It was a warm weekend in March and the ticks were out in full force and we all eneded up with a couple despite bug spray. We did go the following weekend, I treated our pants, sweatshirt cuffs, socks and tent with Sawyers before we went and im not sure if it was cooler temps or the spray but we did not see any!

Amazing campsite!

This campsite was clean, private, and absolutely wonderful! The fire pit was very large, which made for a great experience, and I really appreciated the cooking tools available since we forgot one of ours. The view of the moon at night was beautiful and added such a peaceful touch. My dog even got to make friends with a horse, which was such a special moment, and all of the animals were delightful. Randy was very friendly, and generous with his space. I will camp here again!

Sooo relaxing and special

Man… this place just hits right. If you’re looking for peace, privacy, and that “get away from everything” feeling, this is it. Felt like I had my own little slice of the world out there—quiet, still, and exactly what I needed to reset. One of those spots where you wake up, take a breath, and just kinda smile for no reason. Everything was dialed in without trying too hard. Just simple, real, and done right. And shoutout to Randy—good dude. You can tell he genuinely cares about the place and the people staying there. That always makes a difference. Already looking forward to coming back. This one’s special

Pasture Creek camping

Our group of 6 (including 3 kids ages 5-8) had a fantastic experience! We stayed at the pasture creek site, and our boys loved being so close to both the horses and the creek. The site was very well-stocked, including firewood, trash cans, a cabinet with cooking supplies, outhouse…Randy and Milissa thought of everything. Very quiet and peaceful site, but close enough to walk to the main house and barn so our boys could see the chickens and turkeys. Randy communicated very well and very patiently answered our boys’ questions about the property and animals. Highly recommend for families with young kids who want a quiet stay with some animals and creek play thrown in!

Beautiful property, and thoughtful hosts! Friendly animals came to visit 💕 (horses and Molly the dog). The creek was steps away from the main site and we could hear the water babbling throughout our stay, one of my favorite parts! Great family, group, or solo stay.

I really enjoyed camping at Sudden Valley. I was looking to get away from everything and a public campground is usually too close to your neighbors. I wanted solitude. The Top of the Ridge site was perfect. The site is tucked back into the woods with was plenty of room to spread out with multiple tent sites in that area to choose from - tucked into the trees or out in the open. It would be great for a family with a couple of tents and still have room for games like corn hole or washers. I’ll probably bring my grandkids next summer. Randy got me set up with firewood and the scoop on the property, then I wasn’t bothered the rest of my trip, well, except for Molly, one of their dogs, that dropped by for a visit each morning for a quick pet.

We had an amazing time, even though there was unexpected rain and a freeze warning…we will definitely be coming back when the weather is warmer!! The campgrounds were very spacious and private. The supplies were well stocked, they think of everything you could need! The horses were so cute, and my kids loved the turkeys. We can’t wait to come back!!

Beautiful Horse Farm for Camping

I found the site On Top of the Ridge to be a wonderful place to tent camp. There was a table, plenty of firewood, a cabinet with camping supplies and an awesome private outhouse just for this campsite. It was a short walk to visit the horses. The whole farm with multiple barns, fields, trails and really beautiful horses was well maintained. The owner was so gracious and welcoming. It was an easy drive from the interstate on my way from Nashville to Denver.

We enjoyed our stay at The Top of the Ridge campsite! It was very quiet and peaceful, and Randy made sure we had everything we needed. There was plenty of firewood at the campsite and we utilized the Weber charcoal grill as well.
