Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
A gravel road will take campers to a primitive campsite within our Missouri hardwood forest. Surrounded by a variety of oak and hickory, the campsite has accommodations for multiple tents, a small camper and a few vehicles. There are many trails that will take hikers through elevations, some up to the top of Russell Mountain where you'll find one of many glades on the property. We are just a few miles away from Johnson Shut-Ins, Elephant Rocks, Taum Sauk Mountain, Mina Sauk Falls, and Millstream Gardens. We offer a quiet place for campers, age 25+, to rest and relax. Critter Loop Campsite is a crossing point for deer, racoon, bobcat and other animals native to the forest. The road to the campsite dead ends at an old logging site that was originally cleared for log processing. When the logging was completed, a nice, flat campsite was a welcome end product of the logging operation. There is enough space at the campsite for three tents, and a flat area at the middle of the loop to park a 16' camper (no hookups). There are trails throughout the 160+acres of Arcadia Acres. One trail will take hikers to the top of the property where there is one of many glades and a view of Arcadia Valley below. Arcadia Acres is just 3.5 miles from Hwy 21 and Main Street Ironton, where you'll find groceries, gas stations, and different options for dining, (BBQ, Mexican, burgers and pizza.) Minutes away from Ironton is the Historic Civil War battle site, Fort Davidson, and Elephant Rocks State Park and Johnson Shut Inns. This is a primitive campsite, there are no restroom amenities, so come prepared for disposal. Pets must be kept on leashes.
