After having some friends set up camp over Memorial Day weekend, we thought "Hey, maybe other like-minded folks would be interested in camping in our cozy beautiful flower-filled backyard right here in the city!?" GREAT LOCATION for ALL SORTS of G.R. Adventures! • Bike trails along the Grand River to Millennium Park, Johnson Park Disc Golf, & Indian Mound Kent Trails just 3 blocks away! • 4 blocks from the John Ball Zoo! • 8 blocks from GVSU Pew Campus • less than a mile from downtown, where just over the Blue Bridge on the other side of the river is Van Andel Arena, GLC Live @ 20 Monroe concert venue, Founder's brewery & the DeVos Place convention center! Safe, quiet neighborhood w/ lots of old Michigan deciduous trees Off-street parking in backyard (if your car-camping:) Safe fenced-in property w/ security camera There is an outdoor dining area under a big cherry tree... a fire pit... primitive outdoor bathroom and access to electricity & water. Alcohol etc. friendly (legal-age only, obvs) On one side of our backyard here in the city is a large flower & vegetable garden, sheltered from a very low-key private parking lot for a 100yr old Polish Hall... and the neighbors on the other side are friendly & super chill! It's a nice, easy walk to downtown &/or there are two LIME Program bike & scooter share areas 2 blocks from the house & a city bus stop 1 block away! There's room for 3 tents: (or a couple LARGE family tents!:) 10'x'14' tent spots, 6'x8' tent spot, & if necessary, room for a small 2-person backpacking/solo tent We also have 1 very large "family" tent, 2 air mattresses & 2 sleeping bags available for rent! Message or Text for more details:) NOTE!!! RV owners please message for the details of if we will be able to accommodate your set-up here in the heart of the city. We will never pack in numerous people/parties at once! If there is a family of more than 4 camping already, we most likely will not book another party... ( unless, of course, two families traveling together are looking to book :)

Michigan Cherry Tree II

Christopher’s spot worked perfectly for us. My husband and I drove our motorhome three hours hours to Grand Rapids to listen to Doug Tallamy (Author of Nature’s Best Hope and founder of Homegrown National Park) at the Sherman Street Church just 12 minutes away. When we arrived at Michigan Cherry Tree it was as simple as pulling into the driveway. The spot was perfectly level and Chris had the extension cord ready for us to plug in to. We joined hanging around the fire pit for a bit before heading to bed. Slept well and arose the next morning to enjoy time hanging out in the beautifully planted yard with all the flowers, hummingbird, butterflies, bees and other pollinators. We will definitely stay again next time we visit Grand Rapids.

Chris is an excellent host. The garden was lovely with a nice fire pit to sit around. Close to downtown, would definitely stay here again if I was in the area. Good communication Would highly recommend.

I had a wonderful time at Chris's for the weekend! He has a beautiful garden with great decorations, and the perfect spot for relaxing while still being right there on the city. I was attending an event at Devos Place, and I couldn't have asked for a better location. That being said, it is a camp in a city - there are neighbors, and a lively business next door. Things definitely quiet down after sunset and the nights were very peaceful. A little noise doesn't bother me, but it is something to be aware of when you book. The wildlife abounds - I saw butterflies, squirrels, honeybees, and even one very calm skunk that wandered through late one night! The restroom is simple (camp bucket toilet) but works just fine. Chris provided everything that I needed during my stay, including fresh drinking water when I arrived. There was a nice patio table to have my meals at, which got lovely evening shade. Chris is incredibly welcoming and kind, and I felt very safe during my stay. He gave easy to follow directions to find the place, and even recommended local eateries, a coffee shop, and some other things I might enjoy. I highly recommend this spot for a great landing spot while you adventure in and and Grand Rapids!
