Beauty sunset view under pine trees
My wife and I had rented this site for our one year anniversary and it ended up being an incredible time - We were lucky enough to have the site all to ourselves! We were able to pull our trucks up right on the beach and woke up to some spectacular views. During the days we took some long trips with the kayaks to check out the local beaches and try to find some good fishing spots for future stays. Late October was surprisingly nice to get out on the water as the days stayed in the 70s and the water was still manageable.. although we only got up to our waists while looking for shells and to push the kayaks out it was temping to go for a swim. Some of the previous campers had mentioned the site being a little small and cramped over all. I could see this being an issue if there were 4 different groups, and may be something to keep in mind. I believe this property is best suited for two groups - which would give each party there own room and enough divide for privacy. Or better yet (!) just one rental party for the entire site. I have rented HipCamps in the past in which I had spent at least twice as much that were no where near what this site offered, but still justified the price. Not trying to mess up a great deal, just trying to put things into perspective.
On the last night the owner and his wife came down and stayed in their RV on site. These are some truly great people and we shared a great conversation the morning we were packing up to leave. These renters have some BIG plans for the future of this site that should absolutely take care of some of the concerns previous campers have mentioned in reviews. I dont want to spoil any of the plans the owners of this site have for the property but you would be making a HUGE mistake not saving this HipCamp. Check back frequently and keep tabs on whats going on. Your not going to be disappointed in what the future holds for this site.

Beautiful spot- photos are a little deceiving in that you are right next to your neighbors- but still a great spot and I will def go back!

Perfect except overcrowded / disorg
The camp site was beautiful and we had amazing weather. John was not there to greet us as I thought the listing said, ans this was an issue because there was not exactly designated camp sites at least that we could tell. There were 4 campfire rings, but no signs marking them 1-4. This would be have been helpful, because it seems like either the site was overbooked or some campers brought extra guests because we counted 12 people at the site Friday night. Due to this overbooking, we did not get our own campfire. This was less than ideal, because we chose this site over another specifically because the other site said it was a communal bonfire. This was unfortunate because everything else was perfect. A way to solve this would be to put signs next to each campfire (#1-4) so people knew exactly which fire is theirs.
Fortunately, it was a perfect night with an almost full moon sparkling over the water so sitting away from the fire was lovely. The beach was beautiful, as well as the water was sandy and felt safe and clean. No jellys.
We would definitely come back, but only if we rented out the entire site and had it to ourselves to prevent overcrowding.

This was a great stay! As previous reviewers mentioned it was a bit buggy, but worth it to be right on the water and sand. I would definitely come back! A note that what site you reserve does not matter, we arrived to find nothing labelled and just squeezed in where we could.

The location is perfect however...... it was overbooked the night I camped there. The space is just too small for 13 people and 4 dogs. People just kept showing up at night and the hipcamper next to me referred to this place as a free for all. From the photos, all of the campers wanted their own firepits and a spacious beach front area to camp that you can drive your vehicle to. That's not what everyone got. 2 tents had to be set up behind a van with no view of the beachfront at all and their "firepit" was a rusted-out cage. One vehicle almost hit one of the campers vehicles trying to drive through the narrow opening onto the sand to get their gear to their site instead of just walking it in as everyone who arrived after site 1 was filled. Firepits were a foot from the tents and that will burn a hole in your expensive tent. So 2 of 4 of the beach firepits could not be used at all. All of the tents were crammed so close together that even at with a whisper you could hear your neighbor's conversation, not to mention snorning. With 6 tents and 2 car campers it was just too many people for such a small space. 3 tents max should be in this space and there should be a limit on the number of people that campers can bring with them (so more tents don't overcrowd the space) The owner was not present on the property and the campsites were not numbered. People were just showing up with no idea where to go and were confused, asking the other guests where they should set up. 4 sites are listed for Hipcamp but some people showed up that booked through Airbnb as well. The only site you can drive your car to is site 1, too many trees in the way to drive to the other sites once site 1 is occupied. The beach is beautiful, the views and sunsets are great. But the black flies and mosquitos were absolutely brutal. My campmate and I came back with over 100 bites between us and the poor dogs there were covered in flies and were bleeding. I really wanted to love it, but overcrowding, no host on-site, sandy wet dogs jumping up on guests, and the bugs at this overpriced tent site proved to make this stay not as enjoyable as it could have been.

Incredible spot for a small weekend

Simply incredible. We were lucky to have the whole beach and camping area to ourselves for a bachelor party, since no one else had reserved for the same time. For beach-goers, this is much nicer, more relaxing, and private than a regular beach. For camping enthusiasts, a great spot between the trees with a fire pit for the taking and breathtaking views. To top it off, the water was still warm so we got some swimming in as well. John is a responsive host too, he was available to answer my questions. We are already talking about when we will be back.

A beautiful hidden paradise

This is a little hidden paradise! We fell in love with the place immediately. The place we had (as other sites) was in front of the beach. Our host welcomed us with a delicious fresh coconut and helped us in any way to make ourselves feel comfortable as well as the other campers. The sound of the beach and the wind was magical especially at nights. The water was warm all the time and clear. You can do kayak and enjoy the beautiful view and their surrounding that this place offers you. We are definitely going back! Thank you John for everything!

Sure a beautiful beach. We had the place for ourselves, absolutely amazing! Plenty of shade, no jellyfish, and John even gave us some freshly caught crabs!
Only downside are the black flies and mosquitoes. They were terrible after the rain, but eventually calmed down as the wetland behind the beach dried.

It felt like our own little piece of paradise. Will definitely be staying here again. My dogs couldn’t get enough either. I came from Jersey to find a property like this after searching from CT to VA.

John was a great host. He’s got an amazing property here with a one of a kind experience. The locals are kind and friendly and the atmosphere of the island is great. The food around this area is awesome! And the views are spectacular. If you’re lucky enough to get the campsite to yourself it’s almost magical. Even with another group there’s plenty of room for privacy. Will DEFINITELY be coming back here. Great place to bring the kayaks! We made the mistake of coming during jellyfish season. Next time we’ll be trying earlier in the year.

Found this place and fell in love with sunsets. Easy to find and no need to walk far from your camp ground to car. We came after rain and sand was bit muddy and squishy. But our night was no rain and we enjoyed so much of water and views. Since it’s a costal camp ground don’t forget bug spray. Overall I will come back!
