Tucked into the quiet hills of Limington, Maine, The Milkweed Sanctuary is a peaceful 14-acre homestead-in-progress where open skies meet wild meadows. Named for the stands of milkweed that flourish in the fields each summer, this land invites pollinators, songbirds, and those seeking a slower pace. Currently home to one private RV and campervan site, the Sanctuary offers a mix of sunny clearings, shaded woods, and wide-open views perfect for stargazing on clear nights. Guests often spot monarch butterflies drifting through the milkweed, and enjoy quiet mornings with coffee under the apple trees. Whether you’re here to unwind or explore, The Milkweed Sanctuary is a welcoming base for your Maine getaway — with nature right outside your door and the coast just a short drive away.Welcome to The Milkweed Sanctuary RV and Campervan site. Nestled on 14 peaceful acres of field and forest in Limington, Maine, this private RV and campervan site offers a 30-amp or 50-amp electric hookup, potable well water, Wi-Fi and a beautiful open sky for stargazing. Guests have access to a designated fire ring with chairs, a mowed walking trail through young pines and wildflower meadows, and a picnic table shaded under the old apple trees. Currently this is the only campsite on the property, so your booking will ensure a private experience. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Much of the 14 acres are fenced (although not all). Please respect the wildlife. Just a short drive from the campsite, you’ll find plenty of ways to enjoy Maine’s rural charm and natural beauty: Cornish Village (10 minutes away) is a historic town known for antique shops and great local restaurants like Krista’s. Visit during the Ossipee Valley Music Festival (late July) to enjoy roots, bluegrass, and Americana music set against a scenic mountain backdrop. Float, paddle, or swim in the Saco River, with several public access points and tubing rentals nearby — perfect on a hot summer day. Explore local farm stands, orchards, and roadside markets for seasonal produce, flowers, and baked goods. Hike the nearby trails at Sawyer Mountain for forest views, birdwatching, and solitude or travel over the border into NH for hikes in the rugged White Mountains. Looking for a day trip? The coastal city of Portland is just under an hour away and offers rocky beaches, working waterfronts, art galleries, craft breweries, and award-winning restaurants. PLEASE NOTE: **The site is about 75 feet from an unfinished home, part of a long-term homestead project. While the house is visible, the RV site is privately situated and bordered by apple trees and open space. The structure — including the deck — is strictly off-limits and not part of the rental experience. **This is a dry site — there is no bathroom or sewer hookup — so it’s best for self-contained RVs or campervans with onboard facilities. If you’re seeking a quiet base for river adventures, hiking, or just unplugging in nature, you’ll feel right at home here.
