Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Welcome to Chickadee Hollow! We’re a 7acre family homestead raising chickens, bees, and apple trees…as well as pigs! Located on a quiet dirt road, our campsite is a great choice for hiking, fishing, kayaking, and snowmobiling - all of these within a 5min drive! Multiple Kennebec Land Trust trails are in the vicinity, and public boat launches for Egypt Pond, Parker Pond, and Minnehonk Lake are a stone’s throw away - the parking area has plenty of room for your boat trailer. Access to the local snowmobile trails and the ITS is visible from your parking spot. Hike the Kennebec Highlands and visit the Belgrade Lakes region (only 20min away). Enjoy dinner and a movie in downtown Farmington (15min). On farm, you’re welcome to visit with our animals (just mind the electric fences!), and fresh eggs and produce are available for purchase in our farmstand (as the season allows).Pitch your tent in our pine grove and enjoy your own picnic table and fire pit on our dead-end dirt road. The site is flat and grassy, surrounded by mature trees. Parking is on the dirt road next to the site; access is walk-in through a gap in the stone wall. Our property is a working homestead in a rural area with zero light pollution - so many stars! You're welcome to visit our critters, and be sure to check the farmstand for fresh eggs and produce (in season). Chickadee Hollow is nicely situated with easy access to lakes and hiking trails, as well as a variety of dining options in nearby Farmington and Belgrade Lakes.

Chickadee Hollow tent site
This beautiful site is a little slice of heaven! I love the openness of the site, and loved how grassy it was. Plenty of firewood for all my 3 nights, and had a great view of the stars at night. Kirsten was always quick to respond to my questions leading up to my stay, which was super helpful. I bought the farm fresh eggs and they were delicious! Thank you for being such great hosts! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay 😊

A Great Camping Experience

Chickadee Hollow tent site
This site was great. It was very private and nestled into a clearing in the woods below the host's small farm. It is accessed just past the host's house and park at the bottom of a small hill. The site is a grassy strip about 20 yards wide by 60 yards long that bends slightly to the right. Therefore, the longest you'd have to walk to/from your vehicle is about 180 feet. You can camp closer to your vehicle if you want. We tucked our tent in the far end of the site and we could not see the host's house, nor the one neighbor across the street (approximately 250 yards away). The site was clean and well maintained. There is a bit of a slope so take a walk around the site before selecting a tent location. It very much felt like we were in nature and not in someone's backyard, as some Hipcamp sites feel. Kirsten communicated well and we purchased firewood from her via farmstand cash box. We had very little cell service, but we look at that as a positive. Bring bug spray, you're in the woods. We'd love to come back again soon.
