We loved staying at Queenslake and totally would have spent another night if we had more time. John’s property is so beautiful. It was so cool waking up the next morning to the views of the lake and the horses. Super peaceful. Highly recommend!

Hard to find a flat spot to pitch a tent on any of the sites. For some reason it said all of the spots on the lake were booked so I was forced to pick the last one, which happened to be the most expensive and was supposed to accommodate an RV. When we got there every single spot was open. We were confused which site we were supposed to be at so we had to drive around trying to find the owner - finally found him and he was very nice and explained we could pick whichever spot we wanted. I don’t understand why it only showed one and I had to pay more? Beautiful setting - breathtaking in the morning as the steam was rising off the water as the sun came up.

Lakeside East 1 said there was an onsite RV/trailer-Sleeps 6. It ended up being a primitive camp site only. I was advised by the owner he made a mistake and has since then changed info on Hip Camp. He gave me info of whom to contact to rent an RV delivered to spot but failed to mention no electric or water hook ups. Fortunately Eric from RVeedom advised me and he was kind enough to drop RV by the arena and run hook-up so we could have our family gathering. If not for Eric we would have not stayed.

A beautiful horse sanctuary! Not all spots were filled for the weekend so John let us pick whatever spot was open. It was great being around the horses. Bathrooms were close to us in the stable. All around a great trip and place to camp! 10/10 recommend and can’t wait to come back.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming horse farm nestled in the picturesque countryside. Overall, my experience was enjoyable. While I cannot recommend all the campsites, I highly recommend the Lakeside East campsite, which offers a serene atmosphere and beautiful views. The friendly hosts and the opportunity to hear the horses from afar made the stay truly special.
The Lakeside East campsite was the highlight of our stay. Tucked away near a serene lake, it provided a tranquil ambiance that was perfect for unwinding. The campsite was well-maintained, offering ample space and privacy for campers albeit we were the only ones there. I was treated to breathtaking sunsets and the soothing sounds of nature. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, this is the spot to choose.
However, I must mention that not all the campsites were as appealing. Some lacked proper views and were less private. If you're considering staying at this farm, I recommend requesting the Lakeside East campsite specifically to ensure a pleasant stay.
In conclusion, staying at the horse farm was a delightful experience overall. The Lakeside East campsite provided a peaceful retreat with stunning views, and the hosts' warm hospitality made us feel welcome. While some campsites were less desirable, the unique opportunity to sleep near the horses and explore the farm added a special touch. I would certainly consider returning for another serene escape into nature's escape.

If you’re a fisherman, this is a hidden gem! The setting is beautiful, and you’ll have access to some well-stocked ponds. If you’re looking for some private quality time with horses, this place is a winner as well. If you’re just looking for a patch of grass to crash for the night, this is a pricy stay. The lovely sunset and ambience is worth something. If I were looking for a secret fishing hole, it’d worth even more!

Beautiful property with a lot to do and see. We were able to have a wonderful camping experience along with riding lessons the following day. If you're looking for a relaxing time with a great sunset, this is the place for you!

Its beautiful. Everything was as advertised and previously reviewed. Centrally located between Georgetown and Frankfort and was a great base camp for hitting spots along the bourbon trail.

My experience on Queenslake Stables was amazing! John and his wife were the perfects hosts and showed me what being on a working horse farm in Lexington, KY is all about. I did primitive camping right by the stocked pond. There is a bathroom in the stable right by the camping spot for easy accessibility. Just 10min away is Bourbon 30 distillery (make sure to stop by for a true bourbon experience). Can't wait to go back!!!

Queenslake - Classic KY Horse Farm
Such a beautiful place and John and his wife were so kind. The site was close to the stable/bathroom, but super private. We loved having a campfire by the lake while overlooking the hills and waking up to the sounds of the horses in the morning. Our kids loved having some space to run around and especially loved being so close to the horses. If you decide to leave the property it's a very short drive to activities like horseback riding.

John’s property is a slice of heaven. We stayed here the Friday - Monday morning for the Railbird festival. He has an easy to navigate property (circle drive around lake) with plenty of privacy. You may see a few folks here and there drive to the stables to go riding or a couple of fishermen. John showed us the stables / restrooms and let us fill up on water. The area and road the property is on was also great for morning runs. Nothing unexpected :) John responded to any questions we had very quickly.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at this amazing farm. The campsite was perfect for our group and the lake was amazing. The property is gorgeous and the kids had a blast on the trails. This is one of Central Kentucky’s best-kept secrets. John’s farm has a lot to offer and is close to many nearby attractions. We are already looking at dates to schedule our next visit.
