I had an amazing stay at HOBA site! The tent area is well-maintained and offers a beautiful view by the Ohio river, creating a perfect environment for camping. The owners were incredibly hospitable, showing me around the town and even gifting me some fresh eggs. Highly recommended!

The lake was great! A nice cool down after camping for the night. :) Kind host who offered us eggs in the morning. Lauren had sweet fenced animals that greeted us upon arrival. Lake view was amazing!!

We really enjoyed being able to camp directly on the lake. The land is absolutely beautiful and there was easy access to the kayaks we rented. My girls thoroughly enjoyed swimming.
Lauren was great to work with. She gave us a table when we requested one and even brought us a dozen eggs in the morning from her own chickens. We had some bad luck with weather and she offered us to use her ATV to get our gear when my car couldn’t get up and down the trail due to mud.
My kids are really excited to visit again.

HOBA is a great getaway! Lauren and her husband Josh are great and friendly people! We got rained out on our last day and they offered us help and provided great hospitality! If you’re looking for off grid style camping with a beautiful lake and river I recommend HOBA! They are even pet friendly! Just keep your pets on leash and with you all times. They have adorable farm animals!

May have been early on in the season but the sites on this property was not ready for our stay. The access to the site was not the best, I guess a jeep or truck would not have a problem but our SUV needed to carve out an alternate route. Josh was helpful in guiding us to our spot and did the best he could. The site itself was soggy and soft. A bit of gravel and having the space cleared for campers would go a long way to make campers more comfortable. Site and indicated that a toilet would be available but were told that it was not clean or they were waiting for someone to come by and clean it, either way it was located near the main house and not a convenient for campers.

Lauren and Josh were so welcoming and kind. Great people and a great piece of land to camp on. The atmosphere was incredible and the animals adorable. We had an amazing stay!

HOBA was a great stay, it was exactly what I was looking for, nice and secluded. There weren’t any other campers, probably because of the time of the season, aside from a volunteer that’s taken up residence on the site. Firewood was provided as were views. Ohio river on one side and a lake on the other. Additionally I was introduced to the animals they had at the farm. Over all a very enjoyable few days. A couple things I might suggest is more regular clearing of the roadways and the sites. My car got scratched up on the over grown weeds and branches stretching into the roadway and battling the black jack weeds was a nightly thing. A permanent long drop for number 2’s central to the sites. Doesn’t need to be a portaloo but perhaps a composting toilet or something similar. Warning guests that there could be a train honking it’s horn at 4 in the morning for 10 minutes and perhaps a better set gravel track with smaller stones leading out of the campsites. 100% will be coming back.

We loved camping on Lauren's property. The view of the Ohio river is absolutely incredible.
They have a port-a-potty available on site and are working on making a toilet.
They had pigs and dogs when we visited (dogs are very friendly!)
Would definitely recommend staying here!

The space is nice and sitting right on the Ohio River, which is really quite beautiful. My main issue with my stay there was that the amenities were not as advertised. The listing notes, for example, that potable water is available, however the host told me upon arrival this was not true. I was traveling by bicycle, so this was especially problematic as it required me to then make an additional ride to a local store to buy water for my stay. Had I known ahead of time that water was not going to be available, I would have planned accordingly. To my knowledge they were also not available showers or Wi-Fi, which the listing states are both available.

Very accommodating hosts. The pigs on the property are a added attraction. My only complaint was the hosts didn’t warn me about the train that went through twice during the evening and early morning. I would stay again.

We had a great time camping at Lauren and Josh's property. There was a large shady area right next to the Ohio River, with plenty of flat spots for our tent and plenty of trees for our hammocks. We loved watching the barges go by. The hosts' house was up a hill from the camping area, comfortably accessible but far enough that we felt like we were in our own private paradise.

For First-timers, we absolutely enjoyed the stay at Lauren’s property. Pretty quiet, which can be scary, especially at night (but again we were first-timers, so understand the paranoia 😂) we plan to do it again. Very welcoming host. We 100% recommend this place.

Options to hike down the road. The host is very friendly and accommodating. The animals are so sweet. The spots were spread out which was nice!

We were insanely impressed. The property is absolutely beautifully, kept up very well, and secluded yet close enough to town to get things if needed. Our errands and preparation the day of arrival took significantly longer than anticipated and the hosts were very kind and reassured us that it was ok to arrive after dark (and even helped point us in the right direction when we called after 9 pm...sorry guys!). On this particular trip we were the only campers and didn't even see another person the entire time we were there...but we did see the cutest little baby deer, a beautiful sunrise over the river, lots of natural works of art (beautiful driftwood, flowers and trees), and more fireflies than I have ever seen in one place (strongly recommend spending some time with no flashlights or fire, they are even more beautiful when they and the moon are the only lights you can see), and a lone duck that walked through the campground quacking in the middle of the night (we laughed...a lot lol). Firepits and firewood are readily available (and the host even offered to move one if we wanted to setup somewhere where there wasnt one). We ended up choosing a spot about 50 yards from the river, we got to watch several barges float through and woke up to a perfect river view from the "window" in our tent. Theres plenty of shade on all the spots we saw. The walking paths were maintained and easy walking but there were also plenty of areas "off the beaten path" to explore. All around it was an amazing experience and we are all ready planning our next trip!

Absolutely beautiful views of the river! Loved that we could walk the rivers edge to find fossils and drift wood!! The owners were awesome, super friendly, and helpful!! We will definitely be back again!!

Second stay was even better as we had nicer weather. Went kayaking on the lake and catfished off the bank of the Ohio. This place is amazing and the hosts are extra nice even gave us a tour of their camper bus.

The Hosts were very easy to communicate with and the campsite (Primitive) was wonderful. Situated ON the Ohio River you get to watch and hear the commercial barges up and down the river. Very Cool. If you are into Driftwood (I am) the riverbank is stuffed with beautiful figured wood. If you are lucky, the Hosts will show you the inside of a MacroBus that was made by a relative and the Travel Trailer and both are works of Art. Go. Just Go.
