The Hidden Frog On Kelso Lake

Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Tucked away in the mossy rocks, The Hidden Frog offers a half acre of private, forested camping on the banks of Kelso Lake. The 60 acre lake allows non-motorized watercraft only, which makes for a peaceful, relaxing stay. The parking area has room for a vehicle and trailer up to 60ft long combined, plus another area for a single vehicle. It is adjacent to a shared driveway, so you must leave room for vehicles to get around you. There is easy access just off Kelso Lake road, which is a gravel residential road with not much traffic and parking is near the road. You can choose to set up camp there, or down a short path to the lake where there is ample flat ground for multiple tents. The path is cleared but rocky, so always make sure to watch your step! A fire ring, shovel, bucket of water, emergency fire extinguisher, 2 chairs and one 13gal garbage bag are provided for your use. I live next door, so I'm around if there is anything you need (don't be afraid to ask!) There are no other amenities right now, but we plan on adding some as we start to make some money (i.e. an outhouse, electrical.) The shoreline is very bushy and rocky- not ideal for fishing, boating or swimming, but there is a free public boat launch site .4mi down the road, plus another at Granite lake .7mi away. Both offer a toilet, and a place for swimming and fishing (must have a fishing licence.) Please respect the boundaries and do not cross into neighbors' yards. Also, do not disturb the mosses growing on the rocks (it is a fragile ecosystem!) and respect the wildlife that make the space their home. Wildlife you may encounter includes deer, moose, beaver, otters, chipmunks, squirrels, frogs, salamanders, eagles, osprey, blue herons, ducks, and many other bird species- we are located on the Idaho Birding Trail. Very quiet and peaceful area down by the water. Cute little swim spot with a dock less than a mile down the road. Bring your mosquito defense.

The Hidden Frog On Kelso Lake
We booked this space for our RV, not knowing that we would be parking 5-6 ft from a fairly busy rural road & in a shared driveway. To get to the lake you had to walk down a steep hill or driveway, which I wasn't going to be able to do with a 12' kayak. The spot for tents looked lovely but we didn't have one on this trip. So, be forewarned.

We were staying north at Mirror lake and got evacuated due to the Sunset Fire. We were lucky enough to find this gem on very short notice! The spot was perfect for the 4 of us to camp down at the lake for the night. Beautiful spot and we would return in the future!

The Hidden Frog On Kelso Lake
Campsite was great! Parking on top and a good spot by the lake for a tent. It was a bit of a tight fit for our big camper but worked for us. Parking spot was a little unlevel but that's what leveling jacks are for. Public access to the lake was just down the road. We had a great time there while visiting Silverwood. Cell signal was low, but host was more then helpful when knocking on the door.

The Hidden Frog On Kelso Lake
Really enjoyed camping here! We were visiting Silverwood Theme Park for two days and couldn’t be happier with choosing this over a crowded campground. It was easy enough to get to and close to everything we needed. It had rained recently so there were a few mosquitos so you may want to bring bug spray. 10/10 recommend!

Really poor water access. Rude host and rude neighbors when we accidentally honestly parked in the wrong area. Definitely not a pull through spot.would not come again amd would not recommend to anyone.

Very quiet, except for the frogs lol. Very peaceful and beautiful. Great tent camping spot down by the lake. We had a 23 foot travel trailer and I wouldn't go much longer than that. Easy to find, easy communication. Loved it.

Great little camping spot on their property and very easy to get to. The site is right on the water and has some awesome fishing. You are camping amongst other homes but very spacious and peaceful. Boat launch and lake access a minute away which was great. Would camp here again for sure. One recommendation would be for an out house on site or something for my private restroom situation lol

The Hidden Frog On Kelso Lake
Great little spot that was easy to find and not too far from the city of Athol and Super One grocery which was handy. This property is set up against the neat little lake for backdrop and it was really cool to go down to the water and check that out. We only do dispersed sites, so it’s really nice to have this one so close to Silverwood and Sandpoint. Would definitely stay here again.
