Maverick Mountain Home is perched on a mountainside several hundred feet above picturesque Trestle Creek, a protected Kokanee Salmon and Bull Trout spawning habitat, two short but gorgeous miles up the road from Lake Pend Oreille. Our property is hidden within an epic cedar, fir and pine forest, bracketed by the Kaniksu National Forest to the east and conservation land to the west. SPRING/SUMMER/FALL: Spend the afternoon at the Trestle Creek on the eastern shore of Lake Pend Oreille, only two miles down the road (just off Highway 200), where you can launch your boat, swim at the beach, or paddle along the shore in your kayak or SUP. Or, take an adventurous backcountry drive up Trestle Creek Road into the mountains of the Kaniksu National Forest where you can check out Lunch Peak Lookout, hike miles of pristine trails to one of the three nearby mountain lakes, explore several waterfalls, or drive the entire 35 mile backcountry loop down to the town of Clark Fork. If quiet rest is what you seek, find a secluded spot next to one of creeks where you can hang a hammock and listen for that still small voice. Or read a book until the peaceful whispers of flowing water and breeze through the trees lulls you to sleep. You'll be in for a special treat if you book your site during the annual Kokanee Salmon spawning season! The salmon run usually starts during the last week in August or first week in September and lasts through late September. There are a multitude of viewing locations along Trestle Creek to witness this yearly miracle and snap some amazing photos! WINTER: Bring your snow machines and take advantage of sled in/sled out access from your campsite to the Trestle Creek loop system, boasting spectacular backcountry terrain with 50+ miles of groomed trails and hundreds of thousands of off-trail acres to explore! On-site trailer parking adjacent to the road is available. If skiing is your thing, Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort is an easy (and gorgeous) 45 minute commute. Don't tell anyone, but Schweitzer Mountain is an absolute gem of a ski resort with 2,900 acres of gorgeous skiing terrain (and epic views) for all ages and skill levels. Our family spends a good bit of time skiing here. Winter Driveway Access: a 4-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicle is required to climb our driveway during winter conditions. OUR STORY: We (Tim and Molly) spent 14 years raising our young family in the desert heat of north Phoenix. Every summer we went dispersed camping as many weekends as possible with our four (now five) children in the backcountry mountain ranges of northern Arizona. We watched our family grow stronger together and sibling relationships flourish as the mental and emotional grime of the city grind was slowly washed from our souls during idle morning hangouts, afternoon hiking adventures and evening stories and laughs around the campfire. We had a particularly amazing mountaintop experience in 2014 backcountry camping over Labor Day Weekend where we felt a strong calling to share with others the blessings we were experiencing. Our hearts were impressed with a desire to host a place in the "wilderness" where people and families could escape and unwind from the noise and pace of city life for a few days and maybe even have a mountaintop experience of their own. After several years of waiting for the right timing, we started exploring and found this place in January 2019. By April we had sold our home in Phoenix and moved our family 2,000 miles north to this 27 acre property on a mountain of Hope. We named it Maverick Mountain Home, which captures our love of the wilderness, our mission to care for the lost, and our desire to be unbranded by the world. Upon landing here we immediately got to work preparing. We've spent the last five years working on hundreds of different projects, including: rehabilitating our driveway, beginning a long-term whole-house remodel, building a chicken coop, maintaining our driveway, fencing in a new orchard, chicken yard, and pig yard, planting trees, replacing a spring house, maintaining our driveway, installing underground infrastructure for future guest facilities, clearing trails, milling lumber, and maintaining our driveway. In 2024 we dedicated a good portion of April and May to preparing our first HipCamp site, Living Water, which went live on our wedding anniversary at the end of May. We added our second site, Boondock Butte in July with plans for several more sites in coming years. Since the first booking on our opening weekend we've watched as that line from "Field of Dreams" came true in our "backyard" - we built it and they started coming. Welcome to Maverick Mountain Home, Intrepid Camper! It is a huge blessing for us to share this amazing place with you.

Living Water sits on a small bench carved out of the mountainside about 40 feet above and 50 yards beyond a hairpin turn on our driveway. Depending on the month, Trestle Creek either rushes or whispers through the woods 150 yards below. This tranquil, private tent-only campsite is blanketed in a bed of mulch, surrounded by trees with a seasonal spring trickling along the uphill side. The site boasts ample room for multiple tents with a primitive stone fire ring as the centerpiece. A large wood slab table, harvested, milled and built onsite, provides a counter-height surface for your camp stove and other essentials. You'll find bear-safe food storage and firewood for your first night at camp stowed on a shelf below. We'll have a five-gallon water cooler full of fresh, delicious mountain spring water waiting for you when you arrive. Guests are welcome to refill the water from our springhouse themselves, or just send us a message to request complimentary service. A non-potable water barrel and hose are provided to assure campfires are dead-out before leaving camp. The communal porta-john is a short two-minute walk from camp. All guests are welcome (actually encouraged) to explore our property, with access to Trestle Creek, Cochran Creek, and multiple hiking trails leading into the adjacent conservation and national forest lands. And don't forget your hammock! There are multiple epic spots on and adjacent to Maverick Mountain where you can spend the afternoon suspended between some trees with a stream trickling by. If you're looking for a private, quiet, beautiful campsite in the woods where water literally flows out of the mountainside, Living Water is for you!

Boondock Butte is perched on a peninsula above a sweeping hairpin turn between the upper and lower sections of our driveway. Don't let the word "hairpin" discourage you! Our driveway was built to accommodate large logging trucks. This campsite is blanketed in a bed of mulch and surrounded by trees, with ample room for maneuvering your rig or pitching multiple tents. A primitive stone fire ring overlooks a drop-off above our lower driveway as Trestle Creek either rushes or whispers through the woods further below. This spot was beautiful and quiet. And the view of the night sky was incredible! The fresh mountain spring water was delicious - as were the farm fresh eggs. Tim and Molly were so kind and welcoming and checked in with us to see if we needed anything. Would highly recommend!

We had sought a quiet place away from the noise and chaos of the everyday, and our stay here far exceeded those wishes. The hosts were extremely gracious and friendly, and the site is well located and stocked. The dominant sounds during our stay were the nearby creek, with crickets and frogs to fall asleep to at night. The site was spacious and thoroughly naturally shaded, but with a spectacular low-light-pollution view of the stars in the evening. The portable toilet was immaculately clean, and the hosts provided fresh water, a picnic table, a bench with storage, secure garbage cans, levelling boards, and more. Our stay felt tremendously rejuvenating. Thank you, Tim and Molly! We greatly appreciate and have enjoyed our stay.

Tim and Molly were such excellent hosts. We tented with our four children at Boondock Butte and everyone had a great time. The property was immaculate, well maintained, and all the little extras were such a bonus: fresh spring water, farm fresh chicken eggs, and our kids loved Molly's honey. I can't recommend Maverick Mountain enough and if you're thinking of staying here, I would highly recommend it. Thanks again Tim and Molly. Hope to see you again in the future.

Great hosts! Has all the amenities needed for a stress & hassle free stay. Great location, private, just a few sites so it is perfect for a peaceful get away. To NO FAULT of their own but in all honesty, we left early due to the fact that the city is doing work on the road (not very close to the camp sites) and we could hear construction the whole day. I believe this will continue throughout the summer due to the washout of the road last winter. Would have been the PERFECT stay without that distraction. Again, no fault of the hosts.

Tent camping here was so fun! The site we had was beautiful and well laid out, it was far enough away from the main road that you couldn’t hear any cars and we could hear the creek at night! The second campsite was empty while we were there but it is far enough away that I am sure if people had been staying there we wouldn’t have heard them! The directions into the site were clear and made the spot super easy to find! The owners came down and brought us fresh water from the spring house and were super friendly and inviting! I will definitely be staying here again in the future!

I loved camping in Tim’s Land! We car camped and it was the perfect spot! It is very private and Tim had everything we needed. The porta potty was super clean, drinking water was available and there was even extra water to put of the fire. Overall we loved camping here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little get away!

We loved tent camping at Boondock Butte! The site was well appointed with a fire pit, picnic table, and work bench with a bear box. Although right off the long driveway, it feels fairly private, and mostly shady with a porta potty close by. It's a fantastic jumping off point for adventuring further up into the mountains and the rushing of Trestle Creek in the distance provides nice ambiance. Tim and Molly have clearly put much thought and work into creating this and are gracious hosts. Thank you for the fresh spring water, firewood, and chat! 10/10!

What a beautiful spot! You can hear the creek rumbling from this private spot on the mountain. This was a big space so it was easy for us to get three tents set up. Don't forget to fill your water bottles from the water spring (super lush spot behind the pump house) before you leave! The hosts have everything set up nicely and were really cool when we chatted for a bit.

What a peaceful place! We were itching to get out for the first time this year and this was a perfect trip. Lots of places to explore close by, including atv trails, creeks and gorgeous views. The hosts are wonderful people and went out of their way to clean up the site for our last minute booking, and even left us with a jug of fresh spring water. The site is easy to find and easy to get to so long as you have 4 wheel drive and a shorter rig (I wouldn't want to try and get up there with anything longer than 35'). I bet this place is even more spectacular in the summer and fall when all the leaves are on the trees. We'll be back!

I loved tent camping here with my boyfriend! They had everything we needed such as fire pit, water, bear box, and picnic table! The place was perfectly nestled away in the woods but still close to everything and the portapotty in walking distance was convenient!

We loved the experience here. It's in the mountains, right next to a creek, while still being close to town if you want to go shopping or anything. It was quiet and private, even with being on the host's driveway there's very little visibility or sounds between the two campsites and the host's home. Would come here again! There are a lot of nearby hikes and lakes with swimming and paddle boarding options, though I would recommend a good four wheel drive smaller vehicle if you want to drive up the mountain to hikes. We did Gem lake and it was an hour in our truck from the campsite even though only 15 miles away. Also not a rocky lake, pretty, but not super swim friendly. Lots of huckleberries though! In late August there weren't even bugs here! Boondock Butte site was pretty full with our camper and truck, but you could hang a hammock nearby if desired and still room for tables and a fire and such outside. They provide a good amount of firewood and a bear box!

Tim and Molly were excellent hosts! The property was quiet and fairly convenient for all of our exploring. We greatly appreciated the fresh water and the hiking maps on arrival. Their suggestions for other activities were great too. We especially enjoyed having access to the creek on the property every day. The toilet was clean and well stocked for our trip. We would definitely stay again!

Loved our time at Living Water! We were 4 campers in a Prius, and found a clean and quiet spot to pitch tents and grill dinner at the pit. Tim and Molly were super responsive and helpful during self check-in, and in spite of our struggle reading the map properly and getting stuck down a wrong turn, they and their neighbors were helpful in guiding us the right way. We had no service in the zone so pls keep in mind and download/save instructions and maps for check-in ahead of arrival just to be safe!
