We received good directions and were welcomed to come after dark due to extenuating circumstances and slept fine on level ground. Water was provided and an outhouse. In the morning, we were not very much at ease, trying to dry and roll up our tent with no table or railing and plenty of lamb poop on the ground all around. Before coffee or breakfast, we felt like we were being encouraged to just head off and get on with our day. We felt our conversations with our hostess addressed her needs more than ours. So we left and found breakfast, got on with our day elsewhere.

Really great, flat camping spot. The sheep were so sweet, and the complimentary guacamole and mac nuts were such an authentic treat! We had a wonderful time learning about Barabara's adventures around the world. The kitchen has a portable electric stove top, microwave, and fridge. The water is rain water so plan to use sparingly!

We loved staying at Barbara’s property. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and we enjoyed sampling the fruit she grows. We enjoyed chatting her and she had several recommendations to do around the area. The tent area is flat and the sheep wake up call is a nice to have. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Barbara was so kind, and her sheep were adorable! The guacamole was tasty, and there were even bananas, guava, and Mac nuts! She is an incredible lady, and had many helpful tips for exploring the Big Island!

Nice flat camping area with a fantastic hostess in Barbara.
Very cool sheep (that look like goats) nearby which are very docile, friendly and cute.
Great for a sunset.

Barbara was such a caring host and a great place to kickstart our island adventure. We didn't arrive early enough for sunset guacamole, but Barbara generously made us breakfast guacamole. She gave us the local's insight into different spots on the island, shared fresh macadamia nuts with us, and let me hand feed her sheep! A one of a kind experience but it is very rustic - so if you aren't up for an outhouse and no running water (but plenty of wash water provided on site) you might not have as much fun as I did.

We spent one night here and put up our hammock. Thankfully it did not rain on us. The sheep roam around the entire property but are not tame and keep their distance. We were able to harvest some macadamia nuts off the ground to take along with us as well as some guava. When we first arrived, Barbara took us on an extensive and comprehensive tour of the property and in the morning she made us some guacamole and let us use her blender to make banana smoothies. I would have wished for the kitchen facility to be a little cleaner, but it was nice to be able to cook over something besides our campstove.

Barbara’s land is an amazing spot to camp on the Big Island! She is a very kind woman and we sat chatting with her on her porch while enjoying fresh guava juice and fruits. The property felt like a true, lush Hawaiian experience. Would absolutely recommend and would return! This was our first Hipcamp experience and gave us memories we wouldn’t get from any hotel or AirBnb.

Barbara is delightful. Staying with her was incredible. She is so warm, hospitable, and kind; her property is beautiful; and getting to meet her animals and try her fresh fruits was incredible. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Beautiful property covered in tropical fruit trees. The yard where we camped was perfectly level (it was a tennis court!) and Barbara offered for us to set up our tent under her home church tent structure. This allowed us to keep the fly off our tent and stay cooler. Barbara is so kind, friendly, and such a gracious host. We enjoyed greatly the guacamole on the deck, and listening to the stories that Barbara shared with us. She also gave us some mac nuts which were delicious and a bag of dried fruit!
The farm kitchen had everything we needed. The sheep were friendly and entertaining and we enjoyed petting and feeding Patches. The outhouse was clean.

Barbara is friendly! Our kids got to feed the lambs, found avocados, and gathered macadamia nuts. We enjoyed fresh guacamole on her porch at sunset and got to hear about her life. Sad to hear she is looking for a buyer for her place. She has a great space and hospitable spirit!

The land and space were beautiful. The flora and fauna quite magical, but overall I was not super at ease here. The host Barbara greeted me and somewhat quickly started explaining how I’d help her figure out a rope apparatus to wrangle and catch some of her sheep so she could show it at the fair next weekend. She seemed a bit all over the place during my stay. The shared kitchen was not well kept, so like another camper I wasn’t keen on using it. The shower is just a loose hose shin height off the side of a rain catchment tank.

We stayed at hipcamps all around the island and this was our favorite! Quiet and flat camp spot to park the campervan that we rented from vancation.com.
You're camping on a secluded farm and Barbara is a super friendly and interesting host.
Be sure to checkout the bay across the street when you stay here!

Barbara was very hospitable and did everything she could to accommodate us. Property is beautiful and the lambs love to eat those Cheerios right out of your hand!
We had a wake up call from a large turkey outside our van window and the roosters did their part also. Tons of fruit trees to enjoy a snack from! Good times and good stay!

Our stay with Barbara was awesome. The property is beautiful and full of plant and animal life, and fresh fruit. Barbara truly makes you feel at home. She is welcoming, patient, and communicative. She is an angel on earth, sharing her slice of heaven with us all. Definitely take the time to get to know her.
On our last night, Barbara had us over for a sunset BBQ with neighbors. She even helped us get the rental car working when it wouldn't start. Highly recommend staying with Barbara! We look forward to our next visit.
*Tip: if you're a light sleeper and not used to Roosters, bring ear plugs. Neighboring roosters may crow throughout the night.
