This property is gorgeous. Very quiet and off the beaten path, wonderful little pond and nice recreational building. However, it is for primitive camping in a tent or tiny camper only. There isn’t a 30 amp hook up, if you have an adaptor there is the possibility of hooking to an interior outlet but it’s with household extension cords. Water is somewhat available, but not in a way you could just hook your camper up for the entire stay. Again, very pretty location and had it been properly advertised (primitive only) wouldn’t have been an issue, however due to incorrect advertising we were unable to stay here. Hosts were relatively helpful.

“Piece of work” in progress

We stayed two nights in our van with a small tent setup. The view was beautiful—quiet, open, and away from the busy world, which we loved. The host, Kord, was a genuinely friendly, quirky character and made us feel welcome right away. He described the campground as “a work in progress,” and that phrase turned out to be more prophecy than slogan. The listing mentioned 30A hookups and water available, which usually means at the site. Here, those were located in a building within walking distance instead. The bathrooms were… entertaining. Some toilets worked, others were purely decorative. The showers included one stall with no curtain and another with two rods, one curtain, and a second mystery curtain hanging out on the counter with hooks—like a choose-your-own-adventure situation. Toilet paper was scarce, and although Kord took the feedback with good humor, he never actually restocked it. “Campsites” is a generous word. It’s basically a big mowed field with some fire rings dropped in at random. Our ring was half-claimed by an ant colony, and the boundaries between setups were more “interpretive art” than defined space. Other families walked right through our camp to reach theirs. Still, we had a good time. We’re easygoing travelers and can roll with a few rough edges, but the place isn’t quite what it’s advertised to be. Friendly host, great view, but definitely bring your sense of humor—and your own toilet paper.

Had a great time tent camping right on the lake! Great fishing experience and overall just a great weekend away! Had to leave alittle early due to rain but all in all would definitely recommend! Nice clean place!

I loved tent camping at Owl’s Nest Campground. Stephen and Kord were super helpful getting us settled in. We had a beautiful lake front spot. We hiked around the lake and enjoyed some fishing. Great place to camp!

Pure Bliss at White Owl Campground

My wife and I just left White Owl Campground in Sautee Nacoochee Valley, and it’s a flawless five-star escape—hands down the best! Hosted by the amazing William, this private 256-acre farm, just 10 minutes from Helen, Georgia, and Lake Burton, offers unmatched seclusion in a gated wildlife haven. Perfect for our Oktoberfest trips, it’s a quiet retreat after the festival buzz. The trails for hiking and biking wind through lush, protected forests, teeming with wildlife, all in blissful solitude. Our private site featured a spacious setup with a picnic table, chairs, and a fire pit—roasting marshmallows with provided firewood was pure joy (no need to bring your own!). The on-site reservoir was a fishing dream, with world-class bass and brim, plus great canoeing, all in serene silence. William’s hospitality shone—warm, helpful, and unobtrusive. Handicap-accessible sites, 5-star showers, a shared kitchen, library, office, and on-site Wi-Fi made it inclusive and convenient. After lake days, we hit Cottage House Restaurant in Cleveland for a phenomenal brunch—crispy fried chicken, cornbread, and peach cobbler, served with Southern charm at great prices. White Owl is camping perfection: private, peaceful, and flawlessly executed. We’re already planning our return!

Friendly host. There is wifi and full cell service. Nice views, caught multiple bass in the pond. They check in on you if you need anything. Bathrooms and showers very clean. 15 mins form helen nice mountain roads and views.

Beautiful campground in Georgia.

Absolutely awesome campground, beautiful scenery, very quiet and relaxing. William and his team go beyond to make your stay comfortable and are super accommodating. This place is a gem set in the heart of scenic Georgia, very close to all the vineyards and beautiful little towns close by. There was a large mowed plot waiting for us when we arrived complete with stone fire-pit, tiki candle, then William brought us a bundle of wood for the evenings fire. We sat and watched the Eagles that nest here dive down to catch fish from the beautiful stocked lake on this property. We would come back here in a heartbeat, we think this is going to become our goto campground for many years.

We had a blast at this property! The host was very chill and accommodating. The site is beautiful and way bigger and spread out than expected. Make sure to bring your own toilet paper but appreciated how much was provided for us and how easy going the host was.

🌿 5 Stars for the Owl’s Nest in Clarkesville, GA! 🌿 We just returned from an unforgettable 4-day stay at the Owl’s Nest, and we can’t say enough good things about this little slice of paradise. Tucked away in the beautiful Blue Mountains of North Georgia, the property is peaceful, private, and absolutely gorgeous — the perfect spot to unplug and unwind. 🌲 Our host William was fantastic — incredibly accommodating, hospitable, and friendly. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel right at home and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The site is well-marked and easy to find: just follow the Hipcamp signs — the parking lot is on the right , and the clubhouse is on the left. When you see those landmarks, YEP — you made it! 🙌 We spent our days hiking to waterfalls (Hemlock Falls, Anna Ruby Falls, Unicoi and Moccasin Creek State Parks), watching ducks and hawks, and soaking in the peace of the woods. 🦆🍃 We already can’t wait to come back in the fall to see the colors of the leaves and camp at the Owl’s Nest again. Homey and country all in one

The lake is beautiful. The host is welcoming and supportive, and also around just enough to make you feel welcome. The "Owls Nest" has some interesting history which we still have to explore. My wife and I stayed overnight with our pets and two adult children. Use of the bathrooms and shelter were re-assuring. With pop up summer storms, we had a place to get to for cover. We used the kitchen for after meal clean up. Thanks!

I actually extended my stay so this was my third night here and again I did really enjoy the quietness and the lake. Also, like that, there was a kitchen up top that was able to be used and I could charge my stuff during the day. I will definitely be back! Hopefully with my group! Only thing I didn’t like was the ants.

I loved this hip camp I even extended my night an extra day! I enjoyed the water views and that it was very peaceful. It very close to Helen, Unicoi and other places to hike or explore so awesome location. I am not really sure how it’s set up though….if the lake site numbers matter or if it’s just first come first serve but I enjoyed it. The owners and other people that live on property were nice! And they have a full kitchen thats shared with the people who live there and bathrooms shared with them as well. For a campsite it’s nice amenities. Also includes free fire wood which is awesome!

Peaceful retreat near Helen

This camp is very interesting. I’d like to state I would stay again and loved the area. The signage for letting you know your down the right back road and private drive or even a sign at the “community center” letting you know you’re at owls retreat would be reassuring to say the least. Thankfully there was already campers there and when we pulled up we confirmed we were at the right location. There is not much order to the “spots” it’s more of a free for all. I’m pretty sure the spot I picked from the photos was taken when I arrived so we set up in another spot first night and moved to the better spot the 2nd night. Free firewood is a plus, the owner is a character but seems like an honest soul. There is a “community center” at the top of the hill that has 24/7 access to men’s/women’s bathrooms and a kitchen as well as a covered porch and seating. I believe there was a washer dryer but never used it. Clothes lines to hang wet towels etc, free firewood was a plus. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the bathrooms. They seem to have been redone and in no way reflect the state of the rest of the property. It it all maintained but seems a little chaotic. The community center seems to have a few bedrooms that are rented out to tenants that live there permanently. So when brushing your teeth or going to take a shower you may run into extra people but all were nice. All in all I will stay again. This place does have skinwalker ranch vibes, in a good way

We had a wonderful camping trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! We set up our tent right in front of the lake. The wildlife and scenery were breathtaking. This was my favorite campsite so far! William was a very kind host.

Beautiful piece of property. Very peaceful and spacious sites. Some sites are a bit longer walk to the bathrooms but if you have portable facilities, you’re all set. William is very laid back and easy going. He’s super responsive. We enjoyed our stay and plan to come back. Thank you, William!
