Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 owned micro-farm in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 2015 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible. As stewards of the land and herd, we believe we have a responsibility to share nature's blessings. We offer several agritourism opportunities on the farm, from farmstays to day visits. Our primary program is to serve area youth with agricultural education and the opportunities to work with our goats. All proceeds from bookings go toward our programming. It is our goal to create a space where our visitors can have fun and learn about the animals who share that space. We also strive to serve as a valuable resource for first time goat owners. To support that endeavor, we sell chicken eggs, specialty cottage goods, honey, and natural goat milk and honey products. We also sell raw goat milk (for pet consumption only, as per Florida law - Master Feed License #ZOO406).

Come and de-stress by snuggling our goats. These bouncing bundles of joy are guaranteed to make you smile! We also have chickens, peacocks, honeybees, and even a pig.  Beautiful sunsets on the lake! RV sites are limited, please inquire before booking with needs. Do note we are on a dirt road and while we have RV workcampers often, it can be slow going coming in. $10 extra per night for electric. We are a located in a rural area of Tallahassee, along the Florida Big Bend Scenic Byway and surrounded by the beautiful Lake Talquin State Forest. Great fishing and hiking trails and beautiful sunsets. Two Trailwalkers and one Trailtrotter trails are just minutes away.  There is also a 10-mile Lines Bike Trail.  See trail maps in our photos! We are about twenty five minutes from FSU stadium - straight shot! We love to host parents and students!  Great weekend getaway! We provide water, wifi, and fresh fruit for the picking when in season.  No electric at campsites. We also have several extras from the farm you can request when you book such as our famous farm fresh biscuits with honey butter, milk bread, fudge, and goat milk soap.  We have a small outdoor kitchen area with grill, stove, utensils, and picnic table. Basic cooking ingredients are provided (oil, salt, pepper, etc).  There is also a common room with sofas, fridge, microwave, tv, coffee, french presses, and tea kettle.  We have a small rustic bath house with shower and a composting toilet. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and fresh towels provided.  There are also water spigots in the camping area.  Common areas and bath house is about 250 feet from camping area, which is located adjacent to the pasture.  Check-in/Check-out time may be flexible depending upon concurrent bookings! We ask that you clear your campsite by 11am, but you are welcome to spend the remainder of the day hanging out with the goats, kayaking, or just relaxing.   Private and group goat yoga classes may be available during your stay.   You can also add milking lessons when we are in milk (usually February to September). Unless you are a returning guest please arrive before 7pm. Remember, there is an hour time difference if coming from the west. Late arrivals interfere with our milking and chore routine and we cannot stop milking to show you around. Farm folks also hit the hay pretty early! Please do not book and then tell us you will be arriving late. Thank you. Feel free to message if you have questions!  The herd looks forward to meeting you!! Come spend some time with the goats at Goat House Farm (and the chickens and a pig!).  Kayaking and hiking right off the property! Beautiful sunsets on the lake! We are a located in a rural area of Tallahassee, along the Florida Big Bend Scenic Byway and surrounded by the beautiful Lake Talquin State Forest. Great fishing and hiking trails and beautiful sunsets. Two Trailwalkers and one Trailtrotter trail are just minutes away.  There is also a 10-mile Lines Bike Trail.  See trail maps in our photos! We are about twenty five minutes from FSU stadium - straight shot! We love to host parents and students!  Great weekend getaway! Make yourself at home in our unique tiny cottage with kitchenette, private bath with shower, and heat/AC.  Luxury queen size bed.  Tatami mattress for two extra guests included.  Kitchenette is stocked with standard cooking supplies: spices, oil, and condiments.  TV, toaster oven, coffee pot, induction plate, and refrigerator are in the unit, along with kitchen essentials.  There is a microwave in the common area.  We also have a small outdoor kitchen area with grill, stove, utensils, basic cooking supplies (oil, salt, pepper, condiments) and tables. Note, there are no windows in the cottage.  It was built originally as a storm shelter! You will sleep really well with the thick walls and no city lights! The private entryway does have windows that let some light into the room.  Private and group goat yoga classes may be available during your stay. You can also add milking lessons when we are in milk! Unless you are returning guest, please arrive before 7pm  Remember, there is an hour time difference if coming from the west. Late arrivals interfere with our milking routine and we cannot stop milking to show you around. Farm folks also hit the hay pretty early! Please do not book and then tell us you will be arriving late. Thank you. Farm days end early and we are usually in bed by 8! Dogs welcome, but are not allowed the pasture.  Dogs are required to be on leash. Please bring bags and clean up after your companion animals! We do charge a  cleaning fee for companion animals in the cottage.  Please add your pet as an extra when you book (ex. just one extra extra, even if you have two dogs).  Things you should bring:  Lighting for walking about;  Refillable water bottles;  Sunscreen if you plan to be out on the lake;  Bug Spray (we usually have a couple on hand)  Please be aware that beginning in mid-May for about six weeks is yellow fly season in north Florida! Note: This is Florida and a rustic farmstay in the forest on a lake.  There are bugs and spiders on the property. One may even end up in the cottage. Due to a previous guest's complaint about finding a palmetto bug in one of our cabins, I thought I should make sure everyone knows it happens!  We love our charming cottage, but you should know this isn't an apartment in the city :) We are located at the end of a bumpy 3/4 mile dirt road off Highway 20/Blountstown Hwy on the lake.  We are prone to road flooding after more than a couple of days of hard rain since the hurricane damaged the road!  We've filled recently the largest ruts with gravel and have several cars in the neighborhood that don't have a problem on the road, but - full disclosure!  We offer a 10% discount for FFA, all goat and dairy association memberships, and 4H, just send your number when you book.  Feel free to message if you have questions!  The herd looks forward to meeting you!!

Come enjoy a tiny house experience on our farm surrounded by nature!   Immerse yourself in beautiful simplicity on the edge of Lake Talquin State Forest at the lake.  Your own little coop includes a comfy queen bed with quality linens, heat, and AC.  It sleeps two only or maybe two and an infant/toddler. The lake is just a short walk from the door.  We provide water, wifi, and fresh fruits for the picking when in season.  We also have several extras from the farm you can request when you book such as our famous farm fresh biscuits with honey butter, milk bread, eggs, fudge, and goat milk soap.  We have a small outdoor kitchen area with grill, stove, utensils, and picnic table. Basic cooking ingredients are provided (oil, salt, pepper, etc).  There is also a common room with sofas, fridge, microwave, tv, coffee, french presses, and tea kettle.  We have a small rustic bath house with hot shower and a composting toilet. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and fresh towels provided.  Common areas and bath house is about 25 feet away.  Check-in/Check-out time may be flexible depending upon concurrent bookings! Goat House Farm Camping
We had a great time at the Goat house Farm. I have a Tacoma with a Roof top tent and it was the perfect spot for that. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. All the animals were sweet and well behaved. We will definitely be back with some friends next time!

Rustic Tiny Cottage
The Goat House Farm provided the perfect yet affordable getaway for my partner and I. The farm consisted of friendly goats, adorable chickens, and a dog named Tobi that made us feel right at home. The location of the farm was great, as we were able to go to various springs and state parks during our 2-night stay. The cabin included all the necessities and was comfortable. The host, Melissa, was very sweet and welcoming. It was a short hike to the lake that provided even more beautiful scenery. We quickly made friends with the orange cat that hung out outside the cabin, played fetch with Tobi, kicked our legs up outside, and made the most of our ideal summer evenings on the farm.

I picked the cottage , had its own bathroom and kitchen , cute . I love being outside and this fit what I needed. ...... the owner super nice , Goats all adorable, loved the animals!

This place was a nice little goat farm. It was a little more over run than pictures suggested but it was cool and the host was very nice. Hipcamp overbooked us but luckily a different cabin was open and the host was nice enough to allow us to use it even though it was an upgrade. We got to bottle feed a couple of the goats and wonder around among them. The dog, was also extremely friendly and fun to play with. There were a few kayaks by the water down a little path that I believe we could have used but never got the chance. The drive in wasn’t terrible, I drive a dodge challenger and made it no problem.

For a truly unforgettable experience, move the review over to the Goat House Farm! It’s rustic, it’s quirky, and if you’ve ever dreamed of hanging out with goats all day—this is the place. Seriously, if you love goats, this might just be the greatest thing ever. A quick tip: bring hiking boots, Crocs, or any shoes that can be easily washed. You’ll be around a lot of goats, and let’s just say… you don’t want to be wearing your nicest sneakers. If you’re planning to stay the night, we stayed in an RV and were able to plug in—super easy and surprisingly comfy. All in all, it’s fun, it’s rustic, it’s a goat-lover’s paradise!

Very Cozy Rustic Cottage

This was a nice solo travel experience for me. The Rustic Cottage is very cozy, clean and stocked with almost everything you'd need (i.e. cookware, spices, body wash). Goat yoga was fun and the property is serene. Horseflies were in abundance during the day but that didn't dull the experience.

Truly rural experience
The Little Coop
It’s truly a rural experience. The host was very responsive to all questions, before and during my visit. She even offered to let me come out when the goat kids were being bottle fed. The Coop was clean, decorated just like a chicken coop, and had cold A/C. I added in the morning biscuits option which was a tasty treat as I got on the road.

Rustic Tiny Cottage
This cozy, quiet cabin was the perfect retreat during our 3-day soccer tournament stay. It had everything we needed—comfy beds, a warm shower, and a peaceful setting that made it easy to relax at night. One of the best parts was getting to spend time with the goats—such sweet animals! We even got to see a newborn baby with her mom, which was such a special experience. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend this unique and charming spot!

We loved tent camping with the goats! We camped in the goat enclosure, and had a lot of fun keeping our stuff goat-proofed. We highly recommend ear plugs, as the roosters seem to think Dawn was every few minutes. But it was worth it! We really appreciated the community fridge that we could store some stuff in, and the community supplies (pots, pans, etc) in case you forgot something. The hostess was awesome. I even got to help with a baby goat delivery! Tell Fireball “hi” from me!

We loved this last minute camping experience. We were given the option to camp in the goat enclosure or coat to the bathroom and common space. Due to camping with kids and much rain forecasted, we opted to stay close to the bath house. As a working farm, the roosters kept the adults up, but the kiddos slept through the crowing and *loved* spending time with the goats and watching the chickens. We can't wait to return hopefully with clearer skies :)

The Little Coop
This was really fun place to stay. I was in the “Little Coop” which was clean, cozy and convenient to the bathhouse. Basically, it is like camping without having to set up your tent! I enjoyed the goat and other animals on the farm. Melissa was a warm and welcoming host.

Rustic Tiny Cottage
I was in town with my adult daughter for a football game. We stayed in the cottage. What a unique and fun place! A perfect rustic getaway if you love animals. The bed was super comfortable and the cottage had every convenience needed. I call it glamping but even better. We paid for biscuits and soap that we did not receive, but in all fairness we were not around much and I did not ask before we had to leave.. I considered it to be a donation to the farm. Roosters start crowing very early in the morning. And goats have a distinct smell. Not bad, just like goat haha. We had read that in other reviews and knew what to expect and did not mind at all (knowing we were staying on a working farm).. This place is not everyone’s cup of tea, but we loved staying here.

Sarah made me feel welcome and communicated effectively. The time with the goats made me feel so relaxed and happy. The spot she put me worked out well and I enjoyed all the friendly animals. I look forward to returning in the future.

I was there for q super quick overnighter so did not get to see everything. It was convenient and great for my needs. Lots of nice animals around, fruit trees also. said hi to the goats before I left. I will come back when I can stay longer.

Getting in tune with nature

I thoroughly enjoyed myself! With a daughter In her third year at FSU I had had enough of college town. And staying At the goat Farm was perfect. Just a Short drive into town, then back to the peace and quiet of nature. I had a nice hike with Toby the farm dog. And we both got a beautiful sunset on the lake. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. And Melissa makes the best cookies ever.!

Still our favorite hip camp! Melissa is the best and we learn new things about her goats every time we visit. The love she has for her animals is inspiring and her proximity to all the great food in Tallahassee is fabulous, especially if you love the woods. We call it the penthouse because it has all the things: flushing toilet, hot shower, comfy bed, French press for coffee, fridge and real freezer. Next door in the community space there's the microwave and the pick up spot for the yummy biscuits and honey butter. Highly recommend!

Wonderful host! All of the animals were very friendly even with children and me and my son had a great time. The campsite was easy to find. Easy to park at and easy to set up at. It was very relaxing and the view was beautiful. We will definitely be back!

I was met with a welcome and upon entry I felt excited to see the animals all with there own beauty about them it was relaxing and safe and quiet with a fire place area that is great but unfortunately it was raining day and night when I went for my weekend but still the view was worth the in tent stay only .

Can't go wrong being surrounded by goats. I loved how friendly they all were, unlike chaotic petting zoos. And there was the sweetest little dog that greeted us with smiles. They had hand made jams and jelly and other things to dip/eat with. Definitely a different fun experience. Only things to keep in mind, it is hot. So little too warm for eggs or goat milk/products. And you do have to walk a little ways to get to the cabin. Also, ad seems older so there's not all the cooking supplies anymore but still enough to make things work. Will definitely go back during cooler months.
