Welcome to our rustic retreat at Starry Dunes Ranch, nestled right near Great Sand Dunes National Park! Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature with breathtaking views of Blanca Peak, the 4th highest summit of the Rocky Mountains, and Colorado itself. Our campsite offers an unparalleled stargazing experience in a Dark Sky Association certified area, making it one of the best spots in the world to gaze at the night sky. Set on 5 private acres, our off-grid oasis provides a true escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. At Starry Dunes Ranch, you'll have the opportunity to explore the otherworldly landscape of giant sand dunes, reminiscent of the Sahara desert right here in Colorado. Try your hand at sand-boarding, hike to the famous Zapata Falls, or unwind at the nearby hot springs. There is lots to do in the area, for water enthusiasts, the reservoir offers boating, fishing, and paddle boarding opportunities. For off-roaders try the famous Lake Como, or Blanca peak trail. Our primitive campground ensures a true wilderness experience, so be sure to bring all the supplies you'll need for camping. Please remember to take your trash with you when you leave and leave no trace behind. Depending on your service provider, cell service should be available, allowing you to stay connected if needed. This listing is only a campground, there are no utilities, no bathroom, no water, no pre setup tent. There are fire pits and a picnic table at each site. This listing is for 1 site. You can fit as many people as you can on a site, it can fit a few amount of tents, but depending on how many cars you are bringing. if you’d like to fit more people usually some of the others are available nearby and you can inquire! Campsite 3 at Starry Dunes Ranch
This place was absolutely amazing. We had it completely to ourselves and never once felt unsafe. It was close enough to town to get a bite to eat but far enough away to have the amazing dark sky. The site has a picnic table and fire pit and the most amazing view of Blanca Peak. Definitely already planning my trip back.

Campsite 2 At Starry Dunes Ranch
This was such a cool place! The view is absolutely amazing and you just can’t beat it! We stayed for 4 nights in a tent here.. we just did not realize how windy it would be!! We had some trouble blocking the wind and getting shade.. also, the place just had one table at one site and the other two were pretty bare. And you have to watch out for all the cactus.. I swear there were a billion out there. The place could be kept up with a little better.. we did find a dead rat on the table when we got to the site and the sites themselves could be cleaned up a little bit to be a bit more comfortable for campers. There is absolutely NO shade during the day so just keep that in mind and the strong winds and the cactus.. but it really was a beautiful place and we really enjoyed ourselves!

Easy enough to find. The sites were quite close to each other and the highway sounds. Cacti everywhere which is common in high desert.

Breathtaking Mountain View

Campsite At Starry Dunes Ranch
Talk about an amazing view. I never dreamed I could be camping at the base of such a beautiful mountain. We missed the small sign at first coming in but found spot number 1 to be perfect for our rooftop tent. Be careful in sandals or barefoot there are lots of cacti. The area was so peaceful. Also if you don’t feel like cooking head over to fort garland to the Mountain View cafe. Amazing! Thank you Starry Dude Ranch for a great stay. See you again soon.
