Sand Dunes, Summits and Stargazing. Camp at the base of 14000 ft Blanca Peak in the beautiful San Luis Valley, Colorado only 15 minutes from Great Sand Dunes National Park. Gaze at the Milky Way at night and watch the stars fall. You'll have your own 5 acres with a pergola, picnic bench and fire pit with views that will take your breath away. This is a primitive camping at it's best. There are no amenities, power or restrooms. You must pack it in and pack it out. High clearance vehicle recommended.Sand Dunes, Summits and Stargazing. This is such a peaceful and secluded site while also being very close to the sand dunes. We loved camping here!

Unbelievable views of the mountains, stars and valley. We went with a group for a Sand Dunes trip and loved the proximity to the park without the riff raff of busy campgrounds. However, the roads in to the camp site are a little rugged so make sure any cars in your group are off-road ready and that you (and dogs!) have shoes to withstand the cacti surrounding the site. Definitely worth booking!

SHIANNA STATION near SAND DUNES NP
Spent two nights with our trailer and rooftop tent. Sunset on the first night lasted what felt like three hours. Zero light pollution at night means amazing moon and stars. Like others have said, watch out for the cactus away from the cleared areas, but other than that, a ruggedly beautiful camping spot.

Beautiful views in every direction, no light pollution at night. Any caveat was expected, so the wind, and cacti around the site weren’t a problem with preparation. Host was responsive to questions.
