Loved camping here. Signs for the entrance and site number were tough to see late at night, but the site itself was great. Super open, very quiet, close proximity to the sand dunes, and not crowded. Definitely worth a stay if you like a bare bones site. I could see rain causing issues getting in or out for low clearance vehicles, but otherwise shouldn't be an issue

Peaceful valley, MUDDY ditch entry.
Despite no outhouse, table, water, or other amenities, the price didn’t phase us too much because we were not too far from the dunes and we had a rustic, quiet space to see the stars and surrounding mountains… ALTHOUGH the narrow entryway to this camp site has a large ditch in it, which by morning had become more MUDDY. When we tried to leave, our car got stuck in the mud for hours — this was with no rain and I can’t imagine if rain had come. After finally getting free (with the help of a passing desert jogger!), our car had two places of damage. Avoid this area unless you have an off-road vehicle with high clearance and some power. There are very few people around there assist if you have an emergency or no signal. We were blessed to receive a helping hand. We contacted the owner of the property who said on the listing to ‘reach out if we have any questions’ although days later, and still no reply.

Great site, beautiful views. The bugs were definitely present, so be prepared with spray and clothing. Had a good experience!

I enjoyed the location very much. Sunrise & sunset at the base of the mountain was beautiful. However, if you go in August or monsoon season be aware of rolling lightning storms as you are in low lands. Luckily it did not effect our stay. But if the storm came in it would not have been a good idea to be out there. This location otherwise is a 10 out of 10.

Beautiful view of the stars and Milky Way! Was a little hot waking up in the mornings due to no tree or cloud cover but once outside the tent it was fine. Would recommend arriving to the site either when it’s dark or fully light out because the reflective markers to the drive way can be easily missed. The sandhill entrance is literally right next to the desert frog entrance. Had an amazing stay!

Great views. Lots of privacy. It was VERY buggy and my dog got a very bad rash from the flies. It is the outdoors though!! Thanks for the stay!

We had a great time camping on Christina’s land! It was pretty muddy after a big rain, but once it cleared, we had gorgeous views of the mountains, dunes, and stars. Plenty of space for tents with a big group, and a nice fire pit in the middle!

The area was pretty and remote. It was quiet and close to the national park.
The private road was washed out and needs to be repaired. It would be nice if there was a place to throw garbage away nearby.

We were tent camping and had a great time. Just put in the GPS coordinates given by Christiana for the entrance and you will have no problem finding it. Very secluded with lots of privacy. It is also close to Great Sand Dunes National Park and you pass a place to acquire sand sleds/boards on the way. There are no public bathrooms nearby, so just plan accordingly and use the national parks facilities.

It was a great location to be near the Great Sand Dunes. As advertised, it is very secluded and does not come with any amenities. Worked for what we needed!

The site itself was fine, but we were harassed throughout the night by a group of dogs that barked and growled at us throughout the night and didn’t allow us to get any sleep

Van camped with my two dogs and boyfriend here and it was great. Secluded and so beautiful, I will definitely be back. We went after some snow and rain and would recommend 4WD to get there and to get into the camp spot if it’s muddy at all. The neighbors dogs visited to bark at us in the middle of the night, but they were friendly enough and we didn’t mind.
The seclusion was so peaceful.

This space was everything I wanted…. Quiet space in the middle of nowhere. There was a “neighborhood” dog far away but could be heard barking at night bc there’s literally nothing around. But we slept in a vehicle so it didn’t bother us. Just be aware if you’re in a tent it can get windy at night!
The sunset views were gorgeous.

Great camping site, and very remote which was great for stargazing. There were no issues reaching and finding the site. I was able to drive and park relatively easily with a Crosstrek but my buddy was driving an Impreza and had to be careful with the drive into the site. Overall this was a nice spot with plenty of areas to put a tent. There are some RVs and other tent sites nearby so you're not fully alone but they are far enough away to not be a bother to the eyes and ears. Sand Dunes NP is really easy to get to so I recommend doing to 20-30 minute drive there, it's impressive.

Gorgeous campsite! The view of the sunset was amazing and we enjoyed stargazing majority of the night. The sky was so clear! Would definetly recommend for a weekend getaway

As seasoned campers in the Rocky Mountains, we decided to venture out and explore the Great Sand Dunes for the very first time. Our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed by the awe-inspiring night sky and the unique beauty of the surrounding sand dunes.
The starry night sky at Great Sand Dunes was truly a sight to behold. Away from the city lights, we were treated to a dazzling display of stars that left us in awe of the vastness of the universe. It was the perfect setting for stargazing and contemplating the wonders of the cosmos.
We did find a couple of aspects that could benefit from some upgrades. Firstly, the presence of shrubs and bushes around the tent sites made it a bit challenging to set up our campsite and limited the available space. Clearing some of the shrubs would greatly improve the usability and aesthetics of the area. Additionally, we noticed that the tent pads were not as well-maintained as we had hoped. The ground consisted mostly of dirt, which made it difficult to keep the inside of our tent clean. Upgrading the tent pads to include a more solid and level surface would greatly enhance the camping experience and minimize the amount of dirt that gets tracked into the tents. We felt that the distance between the tent sites could be slightly greater as more privacy creates a more peaceful experience.
Despite these minor drawbacks our visit to SandHill Desert Ranch was unforgettable as the view was awe inspiring. The name fits the site!
