A perfect retreat — a true sanctuar
This place is a sweet haven, a refuge from all that is crazy in the world. After I made a promise on the freezing, rainy night before Memorial Day that I would never make my wife and daughter tent camp ever again, I searched for “glamping” options, and found this. It is so much better than the descriptions can even explain! The cabin is lovely, perched on a cliff, with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and lights and a ceiling fan inside. LuAnn and Chris have thought of everything, from glasses and pots to games and books. They are generous, kind hosts, too, welcoming our family and our two rescue dogs (even though our dog Riley tends to bark at strangers). They gave us our privacy, but assured us they could help with anything we needed.
What else did we need? We sipped coffee for two mornings on the deck in the cool air. We ate ramen bowls and played Rummy one evening. The dogs loved to watch the chipmunks scamper up the rocks. We took a few family walks into the woods. I wish we had hiked down to the river, but I had promised a “relaxing” weekend, so we drove the 15 min to the river at Bailey and walked there— milkshakes at the Coney Island Dog after.
It was hard to leave. This place really is a sanctuary…and I don’t know how I can go back to camping now…
