Near Mesa Verde National Park

Within a 30-minute drive from the West Entrance Booth - 134A.

A historic farmstead in the high desert with an 80-year-old heritage apple orchard, pond, dry land cliff, and large trees. Incredible sunset views, dark skies for star gazers, and only a 20 minute drive to the Mesa Verde Park entrance. This is a great stay for animal lovers: we have a flock of domestic geese, two alpacas, a very fluffy and friendly dog, a black curious cat, and a waddle of ducks who will all want to say hello at some point (don't worry, the geese are friendly). Enjoy visits from wild friends such as deer (including a rather impressive group of stags), hawks, and eagles. In the fall you can pick apples from the trees. In the summer, guests can enjoy cherries, plums, and apricots. There are a few camp spots to choose from on our property: in the orchard with views of Sleeping Ute Mtn, near the pond, or on top of our cliff (a bit of an adventure to bring your gear up, but you'll have some great views). Campers must have a self-contained system, no facilities are available at this time. Fires may not be possible depending on the area's current fire risk. Propane camp fire pits are A-ok. This is an animals-lovers location - there may be some noise from them.

This site is located on a desert cliff overlooking the orchard, pond, and distant mountains. Enjoy spectacular Southwest sunsets. This site requires a short hike with about a 60 feet elevation climb up a deer path. Please note that we have one very friendly livestock guardian dog. He will likely bark at night. If it a low-risk predator season, we will keep him indoors at night during guest stays. He will definitely come say hi during the day.

Select a spot in our 80 year old apple orchard with sunset views of Sleeping Ute Mtn. Our geese and alpacas will walk by in the morning and evening, and nibble the grass throughout the day. Upon request, you may hand feed the alpacas. Please know that geese can be loud, and will greet you with great fanfare upon your arrival and upon expecting breakfast (never before 7am). They do not honk at night unless there's cause for alarm. Please note that we have one very friendly livestock guardian dog. He will likely bark at night. If it a low-risk predator season, we will keep him indoors at night during guest stays. He will definitely come say hi during the day.

This was such a lovely place to stay, the hosts are really welcoming and their large guard pup is super friendly. It was so lovely to wake up to all their farm animals. Thank you for extending your place out on Hipcamp!
