So we enjoyed our stay once we got situated, but there were certainly some unexpected surprises about the site. First off, at the time of booking there was no indication that there was a large 6 person tent already setup on the area designated for our tents that I did not find out about until 2 days before our arrival when the host offered to take it down. I responded the following day that we would appreciate it being taken down and when we arrived it was still up. When the host arrived, we kindly asked that it be taken down and graciously helped her break it down and load it into her truck even after she passively aggressively mentioned that I only responded about the tent the day before our arrival. I didn't say anything but we booked the site 3 weeks earlier. It would have been nice to have found out about it then at the time of booking. Anyway, the road in is rather rough and you absolutely want to have AWD, but you should also have sufficient clearance or your car runs the risk of bottoming out. It is very rocky and uneven in sections. We were led to believe there was plenty of wood around to forage for a fire, but you will need to be sure to bring something to cut it up with and there really wasn't a lot of space from which to forage without having to lug it a long way. Otherwise, opt for the propane fireplace and/or grill because their little tent camp store listed wood bundles for $10! (this is per my fellow campers, not witnessed myself). Otherwise, the hosts were nice and made sure we knew their property lines and came by back to back days to be sure we were good as well as the new campers that were a stones throw from us. That's one other thing, there are 3 sites there not two. They are not on top of each other, but they are not nearly as far away as most other hipcamps we have stayed at. Better than a state or national park, but not by much IMO. To cut them host some slack, they did just acquire the property in June so it was clear they were working through some kinks. However, I got the impression that these sites will not be for camping much longer as they indicated they were going to put a tiny home on the area where we had our tents and a pergola over our picnic/firepit area which was evidenced by the recently installed concrete joists. And not the fault of the hosts, but they had some neighbors that appeared to be unhappy about people camping there. They yelled down at us the first day to be sure we tended to our fires (which of course we did, my buddy has gone through fire training) and another day we heard them yell to each other asking if we were still there for whatever reason. A bit odd and unusual, but it didn't really bother us but we were sure to steer clear of their property. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, and the hosts were nice and accommodating when we talked but they do appear to be a bit new to this and feeling their way through it.
