Land Yacht Joshua Tree

91% (48)
Airstream · Sleeps 4
The Land Yacht is a 31 foot Classic Airstream "Land Yacht" trailer that has been converted into a fully functional glamping unit. Please read my full listing description before booking, its required, thanks. NOTE - The Stock Tank Pool is not a hot tub, it is not heated, and in the winter the water is freezing cold, so as such we drain, and store it away for the winter, From Dec. 1st to April 1st. Another important thing to NOTE - Given that the Airstream Land Yacht is so much within nature, that nature is always trying to get inside the Land Yacht (they know it's cozy in there). And although we make every effort to make sure that little friends don't get in the Airstream, its a constant battle. So if you are staying there do NOT leave food out at all. Keep your food in the fridge when you go out or go to bed. Do not leave the door of the airstream open all night, or you will likely have visitors. And I really have to make a point here as I have had to deal with several extremely unrealistic guests regarding the nature here. So know this, if you see a mouse, a rat, a bat, a bug, a snake, a tarantula, a scorpion, or any other numerous types of animals here, either outside the Airstream or even inside of it (as people leave doors open constantly..) if you see any animals that you don't like or that you are scared of and you then come to me demanding some kind of refund, you will NOT be refunded. I say again, you will NOT be refunded.. By booking this listing you are accepting that this area is the home of all these creatures and it is you who is the guest in their home. So if you see a mouse or anything other creature, it is not a symptom of some sort of unsanitary conditions (like it might be in the city), it is simply that one of the many creatures has gotten inside the Airstream one way or another, it is not likely that this will happen, but it is certainly possible, and while we make every effort to seal up entry points and stop creatures from getting in, it is not possible to stop them 100%. And we are not in the business of trying to exterminate the local wildlife, indeed we want to have as little impact as possible. So if you are going to have an issue with any of the above, then this is not the listing for you! I'll say it again.. The Desert is the Home of these Animals and you are the Guest in Their home. So be sure that you have considered this before booking. There's alot of copy-cat Airstream setups out here nowadays, this was one of the first actually. And you don't have to share your bathroom, shower, or kitchen with anyone else here. The Land Yacht is in one of the most spectacular and unique locations in all of Joshua Tree, on the south-side of the Hwy, up on a hill, at the edge of the National Park, with stunning surroundings and views. It feels extremely remote, yet the highway is only a couple of minutes drive down the hill and Joshua Tree's downtown center is just another 10 minutes west, and the main National Park entrance just another 10 minutes from there. The Land Yacht has a large deck and wrap around seating area built alongside it, for true indoor/outdoor living experience, and a super refreshing large stock tank pool (April 1st-Dec. 1st) The Airstream itself has a front sleeping area with a Queen Bed, full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and microwave. There is a dining area in the middle along with a single Bunk Bed. The dining area also can convert into an additional bunk bed. The Land Yacht has a Mini Split AC unit (it can do both cooling and heating that will cool the Airstream off nicely after about 20 min or so. (from May till September the temperatures here range from the 80's to the low 100's, so take that into account, and please always try to use the AC as sparingly as possible) Heating in the LY during the winter is provided by the same unit that will heat the space up fairly well after about 20 min or so. Again, use sparingly as possible. There is a hot water shower inside the Airstream, along with the private bathroom located at the interior rear of the Airstream. The Land Yacht is best suited for the more adventurous traveller, and those seeking something out of the ordinary. Please be realistic and give a moment's thought about whether you are that sort of person and will be happy staying in a vintage Airstream travel trailer in the middle of the Mojave Desert, with all that that entails. While this is not camping, it is not like being in hotel or a house either. Call it Glamping, or Airstreaming, or whatever you like. But the point is, it's basically a higher end camping experience, and prospective guests should be sure that that kind of experience is the right fit for them. If all that sound fun to you, then great! You will love it here! Please just plan accordingly, its a good idea to bring a flashlight just to have, and maybe bring an extra blanket or two along for your stay to assure maximum coziness, in particular if you are going to be more than the 2 people that the queen bed accommodates. The Land Yacht is really set up for 2 guests, a couple ideally, or a couple with little kids. 4 adults in the Airstream is doable, but it is definitely a full house, and is not so recommended, unless you are happy to be at close quarters with your fellow travellers. We provide bedding for the main Queen bed, make a note of that please, as anyone planning to sleep on either of the extra single bunk beds should plan on bringing a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow of their own. The large Stock Tank Pool on the deck, has a powerful filter and pump built into it to keep the water clean and filtered. It also will creates a nice cascading water sound when you turn it on that is pretty soothing. Take a dunk in between sun and drinks or soak and refresh after a long hike in the Park during hotter weather. Please note, the pool will be drained and put away for the winter starting Dec 1st until April 1st.

See the pictures. Please NOTE- POOL will be drained and stored away for the winter months, starting Dec 1st till April 1st. What makes The Moon Yacht Airstream special, and in my view superior to most other Airstreams is that it has the "Bedroom" in the rear of the trailer. This the best and most spacious configuration that Airstream made in my opinion and for some reason the most rare. We have a queen mattress set up on a sleeping platform in the "Bedroom" of this Airstream, which we provide fresh bedding to prior to each guests arrival along with towels for 2 people. Important notice - SUMMER ADVISORY - Its summer time in the desert and that means it is HOT during the day, around 100 on average, it does cools off some at night but it is still warm around 80 degrees, or maybe low 70's late in the night. But its a dry heat and as long as you stay in the shade and don't attempt to do too much during the day its fine, and I think the nights are actually magical, the air feels so good. In fact summer is my favorite time out here, but its not for everyone. So my point is that people should be realistic about the heat and be prepared mentally before one decides to come to the desert in the summer. Also there are a lot of bugs that come out at night in the summer, like moths and that type of thing that will be attracted to and flying around any light. The good news is there are no mosquitos or biting bugs. But if you're the sort of person that is going to freak out about moths and such flying around at night, then again coming to the desert in Summer might not be for you, so think about it before you book please, thanks. Another important thing to note - Given that the Airstream Moon Yacht is so much within nature, that nature is always trying to get inside the Moon Yacht (they know it's cozy in there). So if you are going to have an issue with any of the above, then this is not the listing for you! I'll say it again.. The Desert is the Home of these Animals and you are the Guest in Their home. Now after getting that out of the way.. back to my description of the interior features.. The bathroom and Shower are configured at the side of the Airstream rather than taking up the entire rear of the trailer as is typical. As such the Bathroom space it a bit tight. Think of a Bathroom on an Airplane, only smaller.. The shower is actually quite spacious, and you can easily stand in it and it has a nice bench seat in it too, plus the water heater is great with plenty of hot water. This is an IMPORTANT thing to note though.. I am a big guy 6'1" and over 200lbs and for me, just to be perfectly honest, I have a hard time sitting on the Toilet with the bathroom door closed.. I just dont quite fit. If you are thinner and smaller than me I am sure you will not have any issue, but if you are big like me, this is something to bare in mind.. The airstream is set up for 2 guests really, and that is what it is best suited for, but it can accommodate a maximum of 4 people by making use of the forward dining table seating area. The dining table can be collapsed down to covert to a large flat sleeping area large enough for 2 people. This would be perfect for little kids. Doable for 2 extra adults but you would need to bring your own bedding or sleeping bags for anyone who might want to sleep in the forward area of the Airstream. We do not allow camp fires or fires of any kind. We do allow pets so long as you keep them off the bed and the seating area. We have $20 pet fee that we ask you leave in cash upon check out for our cleaning lady. The Moon Yacht is located on the forward portion of a 5 acre parcel that is shared with my Moonlight Mesa Hacienda listing. Guests at the Moon Yacht need to stay in the immediate vicinity of the Airstream, and not walk over to the house or disturb guests staying there.

Rock Yacht Joshua Tree

Airstream · Sleeps 4
Welcome to the Rock Yacht Joshua Tree, and twin-sister of my other Airstream listing, the Land Yacht. PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING. NOTE - Given that the Airstream Rock Yacht is so much within nature, that nature is always trying to get inside the Rock Yacht (they know it's cozy in there). And although we make every effort to make sure that little friends don't get in the Airstream, it’s a constant battle. So if you are staying there do NOT leave food out at all. Keep your food in the fridge when you go out or go to bed. Do not leave the door of the airstream open all night, or you will likely have visitors. And I really have to make a point here as I have had to deal with several extremely unrealistic guests regarding the nature here, and what it means to come stay out in the desert, in an Airstream. So know this, if you see a mouse, a rat, a bat, a bug, a snake, a tarantula, a scorpion, or any other numerous types of animals here, either outside the Airstream or even inside of it (as people leave doors open constantly..) if you see any animals that you don't like or are scared of and you then come to me demanding some kind of refund, you will NOT be refunded. By booking this listing you are accepting that this area is the home of all these creatures and it is you who is the guest in their home. And we are not in the business of trying to exterminate the local wildlife, indeed we want to have as little impact as possible. So if you are going to have an issue with any of the above, then this is not the listing for you! I'll say it again.. The Desert is the Home of these Animals and you are the Guest in Their home. The Rock Yacht is a restored 1972 Airstream travel trailer that has been converted into fully functional glamping unit, with an extra large 30 ft deck and built around it, that serves as an excellent observation setting and outdoor living space. There are alot of copy-cat Airstream setups out there nowadays, but you won't have to share your kitchen, shower, or bathroom with anyone else here. The Rock Yacht is situated at the base of an enormous boulder mountain on the edge of The Joshua Tree National Park. IMPORTANT NOTE!! - FIRES ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED AT THE ROCK YACHT, DUE TO ITS EXTREME PROXIMITY TO THE SURROUNDING NATURAL VEGETATION AND ROCKS AND THE WISHES OF MY IMMEDIATE NEIGHBOR. Please respect this rule. Do not attempt to build a fire while staying at the Rock Yacht or I will be forced to bill you. Read this carefully before you decide to stay here. If you really really know you want to make a fire then you should book somewhere else. Sorry about that and thank you in advance for your cooperation. The RY has a queen bed, a propane stove, sink, bathroom, and an outdoor hot water shower. The Rock Yacht is the twin-sister to my highly popular Land Yacht listing and is located a short distance away. So if you're a larger group you could book both together, I will work a deal with you for that. The Rock Yacht does not have internet, but there is good phone signal for most carriers so you can make a hotspot with your phone for your devices which is what I do when I stay there and it works fine. This is a great space and unique spot that is suited to those looking for an unconventional experience. Its glamping though, its not a house or a hotel room, so its not for everyone. This set-up is suited to those who are themselves more adventurous and unconventional , and can roll with the ups and downs that may come with Airstreaming, if that is not you, then you should probably think twice about staying in a vintage Airstream trailer in the middle of the Mojave Desert. But if that sounds like fun to you then you have come to the right place and you are going to love it here! The Rock Yacht is intended for 2 people, ideally a couple. I say it CAN accommodate up to 4 people if need be, with the one dedicated single bunk bed and the dining area converting to an additional single sleeping bunk. But 4 adults in an Airstream is definitely a full house, it’s doable, provided you dont mind being in tight quarters with your friends or family. Also you will need to bring extra sleeping bags or blankets and a pillow or two if you plan to sleep on the bunk space, as those space are not made up as beds, we provide full bedding for the Queen bed, and towels for 2 people. The Rock Yacht has a propane stove for cooking. A medium size refrigerator, a microwave oven, and a stove top Italian style Coffee pot. Along with basic pots, pans, flatware, and Utensils. There is also a propane BBQ outside. The Rock Yacht has good AC with the newer hvac unit which you will need from May to September when the temps here range between the 80's-and low 100's. So plan accordingly. And there is a heater with the same newer hvac unit that will warm the Airstream up.
