The setting is picture-perfect Joshua Tree, and the airstream is a vintage retro backdrop. But while I truly wanted to love this place, the conditions of the camper were not clean or comfortable enough to justify staying. I communicated with Crystal who was prompt in delivering a refund, which I very much appreciated. Unfortunately the more negative reviews of this listing have merit; the pool was empty with a dead bat floating, the bed sheets hadn’t been cleaned nor the pans on the grill. And it was very hot (understandable in the desert, but the AC wasn’t strong enough to combat that). I’m not giving this a full-on-thumbs-down because it looks like others had a lovely stay and my experience with the host was positive. But I am saying proceed cautiously.

Land Yacht Joshua Tree
This was not what they showed. The pool was not usable. only half full, rusted and full of bugs. The shower was not even big enough to stand in and cracking. The biggest issue was the heat. It was over 100 outside and even hotter inside the airstream. We put the air unit on and waited an hour and couldn’t take it any longer. Was not cooling at all, we had to leave.

The space was exactly what we needed for overnight at Joshua Tree. The bed was comfortable and the AC (along with a refrigerator to keep food cool) made the experience very pleasant with temps over 90F. The covered outdoor space gave us the extra room we needed for 3 adult women staying in the Land Yacht. Read instructions closely as default address on HipCamp listing is for Moon Yacht vs address listed in driving instructions for Land Yacht.

The Land Yacht was perfect. It was so tidy and clean, the layout is perfect, we had air for sleeping, and the stars were magical! Crystal gave us so many great recommendations! We can’t wait to go back!

It was over $100 to spend the night in a dirty airstream with pack rat droppings in plain sight. The fridge was filthy. There was trash on the ground outside. I don’t know if the shower worked because the hosing looked broken and I just needed to get out of there. I couldn’t eat or settle in before I saw 3 pack rats. And I couldn’t sleep because they were running around the airstream making noise all night. It’s an infestation, not an “oops a little friend got in from outside” like the owner describes. I left there feeling dirty and ripped off.
The view was great. But I could’ve found that without spending over $100, losing a night of sleep, forgoing dinner and feeling disgusting when I left. I would have slept better in my car at a truck stop.
This is the first time I have ever left a negative review for anything. I usually cut my losses and carry on but this was egregious and is a health hazard.

The Land Yacht is perfectly situated for exploring Joshua Tree National Park and local shops north of the park. It was nice & cozy for our family of four. Bring a reading light if you want to enjoy a book after the kids go to bed as there are not many focused lights within the airstream.

10 minutes away from the Joshua Tree's Visitor Center. RV was Nice and cozy. Only down side is the stove inside the RV did not work. A little annoying as we wanted to make coffee in the morning. Besides that the area was nice.

Everything was great up until we went to bed and realized that as lights went out rodents came out. We followed all instructions and kept all doors closed and all food contained, yet we heard grinding of mice chewing wood behind the stove all night long. When we woke up we found that the mice had eaten through a bag of chips, crawled in and out of the the sink pooping all in the dishes and there even were mice turds in the bed between the sheets....horrified we showered and got the hell out. So it appears that either THE SHEETS WERENT CHANGED or WE WERE POOPED ON BY MOUSES AS WE SLEPT. It was a very horrible end to what started as a very beautiful night. We are nature people and have no problem sharing space with wildlife, but they have a serious mouse infestation problem, they are aware of it and renting it out anyway passing it off as “you’re on the edge of wilderness”. At 2 am, we had to set up our tent and we moved out to the carport because the grinding was too much and we could not sleep. The host offered a 25% refund which was insulting due to our experience, but I took it anyway. Don’t stay here unless you like mouse poop all over your stuff. :(

It didn’t seem like the place had been cleaned prior to our arrival. There were mouse droppings inside the airstream, a broken light bulb outside, and random junk scattered around outside. The mouse traps were also left out in the open and in the morning there was a dead mouse in plain view. There were also ants that got into our bag even though we kept all our food inside our vehicle.
The outdoor shower was broken, which was a huge let down because it was a main reason we chose to stay here.
On a positive note, the AC worked well, the deck was nice, and it did have a good view.

Great little spot right on the border of Joshua Tree National Park. Quiet, private, beautiful stargazing. Active and communicating host. Just know this isn't glamping, this is rustic. But comfortable. The stock tank was an excellent way to cool off during the 100 degree summer day. The AC on the unit brought the night temp down in like 30 minutes. Slept 3 and 2 dogs comfortably! Only "wish" is that the LY had an outdoor shower too! Will return.

Perfect after a day of exploring JTNP. The host was so friendly and helpful. She communicated so thoroughly in advance about any questions we may have or anything we might need to know, plus recommendations for things to do In the area.

Land Yacht Joshua Tree
What an amazing place! We had a very comfortable night here, cooked in the bbq and sat out to watch the huge night sky. Crystal was super helpful and there was everything we needed in the Land Yacht to make this a truly memorable stay.

Had a great time at the Land Yacht. Even during the summer months (stayed in early June), the Mini-Split AC did a good job at cooling down the inside. It does take a while, but certainly does make it a comfortable temperature.
The site feels private, has a nice pool, and great views of the mountains.

The moon yacht was so cute. The night sky views was the best part . It was very clean, cute little air stream. Lots of desert to explore. Wildlife to watch. We couldn’t find the hammock , but that’s ok. There was enough benches to sit on. Would go again.

The land yacht has so much potential but is in desperate need of a good clean and repair.
As we opened the door we were hit but the strong smell of decaying mouse, a smell that only mildly dissipated after three hours of having all windows open and which woke us repeatedly through the night.
The land yacht seems to be aiming for a retro cool vibe but falls solidly into the ‘hasn’t been updated/maintained since the 70s’ category instead. There are countless examples of broken fittings and furniture or parts of the air stream that are solidly broken or falling apart, with some parts crudely patched up with dirty rags or sponges and others left to decay. Only one light bulb out of around 10 worked and there were multiple hanging wires.
It’s hard to see why a cleaning fee is charged with trash all around and under it along with random items left from previous guests such as razors and condom wrappers, not to mention a liberal scattering of mouse droppings and the strong dead mouse smell.
Whilst I understand camping/glamping in the desert naturally comes with a level of mice, insects, dirt, etc, it doesn’t justify a complete lack of cleanliness and maintenance.
I had really been looking forward to our stay and I really wanted to like it but I couldn’t recommend this stay until it has a good clean and repair :(

My husband and I were looking for a better version of camping in Joshua Tree. And that’s exactly what we got. The deck was inviting, the outdoor shower was a ton of fun, especially since it was so hot out.
The Yacht itself was cozy and had some character. The beds and dinning area was comfortable. It was awesome to have a bathroom and kitchen area.
The only part that was a little rough was the grill. It was pretty dirty, which made sense since it’s outside. I recommend bringing some tinfoil to cook on.
Other than that we had a blast.

We had a short, but lovely stay at the Land Yacht. While we didn’t see the aurora borealis (which was seen in JT night prior), we had a wonderful night gazing up at the beautiful sky, saw the Milky Way, and enjoyed chatting and relaxing on the deck under the stars. The airstream had all the things for a comfy stay. Crystal and Sasha were super responsive to questions both prior to and checked in during our stay. Their property is great for dark skies. Next time, we hope to stay a bit longer to explore more.

This place was great and exactly as advertised. Easy to find. Host was very communicative. Location is gorgeous and pretty private. Things are dated but that was to be expected. Everything worked as described.

Rock Yacht Joshua Tree
The environment was wonderful. Very pretty, peaceful and private. The airstream itself could have used some tlc. The back window behind the bathroom was not secured properly. The curtain rods and curtains shabby. The stove was uninviting, rusty and not clean. Although we understood it was glamping it still could have been kept up better. The cost to fix it up would be minimal.

Such an amazing and special place. Took my kids and they were in absolute love with it. We didn't even end up going into the park. Just went out to the hills out back and hiked/bouldered all day and had an amazing time. We will definitely be coming back.

The outdoor space is really beautiful, and there is a good amount of privacy. Although I get the place is vintage, I think it's pushing the limit between what is "vintage" and just broken or in disrepair. When I was there the stove wasn't on, the hot water wasn't working, The lock on the door to the outside was jammed and would pop open during the night, and the outdoor lights weren't initially working but were fixed. Also some critters got in and ate the packaged food we placed on the shelf. I think it's a good spot for glamping, but knowing what was and wasn't in working order would have been helpful. I would have brought my camp stove, portable shower, and laterns had I known these things would have been needed
Also, I got to check out the land yacht and it's significantly nicer and better kept up. It's worth paying the extra money for.
