Montauk 2 First time Glamper!

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. The property was beautiful, and well maintained. We enjoyed all the luxuries and comforts of home while getting to spend it all outdoors! I was so pleased that the pictures were accurate and the tent was prepared with bedding, toiletries, games and more. We had an issue with the shower and Ann responded very quickly to help. Chris then came down to remedy the situation. They are amazing and helpful hosts. We look forward to coming back to our get-away thats close to home!

The wind down begins at the turn-off from Rattlesnake Bar Road: keeping it under 10 miles an hour gets you ready for gracious glamping vibe (and spares your car's suspension). Original Montauk is a great site with full view of the lake and astonishing sun sets, with five discrete areas for posting up for relaxation. Expect daytime sounds from the boaters on the lake (yes, a group actually did play Free Bird on their way home), and true natural quiet at night. The tent itself is an oasis within an oasis. Agree with the hosts: use all your self-reliance to prepare for car camping, then reward yourself with hot showers and fresh linens.

Our experience here was amazing! The host is super helpful and responsive and the site was absolutely beautiful! The tents are amazing and comfortable with a great view of the lake and we had a great time paddle boarding and swimming out in the lake with our dog. 10/10 would definitely recommend & we will be back for sure!

Positive: the campsite is very well maintained with great lake access and beautiful views. Chris was very nice and accommodating; and he let us borrow his kayaks, which was really awesome. It was quiet and we were the only people at the site while we stayed, so there was great privacy. Negative: we felt mislead by the ad. The listing specifically states there are cooking utensils, cookware, and cutlery and there was none. We received a camp checklist a few days before our stay and essentially you need to bring everything to cook/clean. In addition, the A/C, TV, and microwave did not work. We expected these to work as they were all shown in the pictures. For $200/night, we feel that these should have been included or it should have been noted in the listing description that they did not work. Luckily we saw the review below before we left, so we were able to somewhat prepare; however, had we known none of this was included, we would have booked something else. We did not see the review or receive the itinerary until after our money was non-refundable. Overall, the campsite was beautiful and we enjoyed being out in nature; however, we are not sure if we would book again as we felt it was very expensive for what we actually got in the RV. Had we know there was no cookware or A/C, we would have booked a traditional tent site or taken a closer look at the other Montauk glamp sites. We would recommend this site if you know this and are okay with it!

This is a high quality site and carefully considered lodging. Summer time is quite hot in the valley. This would be a beautiful and comfortable place in all other seasons.

Overall we did the best we could to enjoy our stay but I will share some details that might be overlooked before booking. Some positives were that the campsite had good lake access, has a grill outside, and has a working toilet. Now some details that you might miss. This campsite has about 6 other RVs parked in the same area so not too private. Luckily none of the other RVs were booked at the time we stayed. I don’t think it’s 2WD accessible especially in the rain. They did provide towels and pillows but besides that I feel like there was nothing else in this RV. The shower would take hours to drain and was even overflown at one point when we were using the sink from the kitchen. One detail that I was pretty upset about was the fact that there was no cooking utensils whatsoever even though it’s mentioned in the listing. That was one of the reasons I booked this RV because we didn’t want to lug a bunch of cooking utensils, plates, cups, napkins, etc. The host instead emailed us 1 day prior to our stay with a huge list of things we should bring. I feel like these should’ve been in the listing. They had no sheets/blankets, no napkins, no tv, no working outlets, half of the lights didn’t work, no ac/fan, nothing for cooking, and on top of that the bathroom stunk really bad. We had to keep the door to the bathroom open the whole time because the RV smelled like dirty water. In the end I would not recommend this site especially if it’s over 90 degrees.

Awesome experience

We really enjoyed our time at Montauk! The Travel Trailer is a newer experience for them, so we had no neighbors and essentially had the place to ourselves! The dogs loved free roaming the property and swimming in the lake. Chris says they have big plans for this experience and I am excited to see what they have in store. We definitely plan on coming back next year.

We loved our stay at the tent site #2 at Montauk Camp. The directions to camp were easy and we got there without any trouble. The camp site amenities were exactly as advertised. The tents have a bed with solar powered batters to charge your devices. The outdoor shower and toilets were perfect. Folsom lake is a very short hike from the site and the host had kayaks and paddleboards for rent! The tent site was very private with amazing views of the lake. We felt very safe during our stay.

We absolutely loved our stay. It was very comfortable. The RV was equipped with all the necessities. The location is beautiful and close to the lake. The RV has a decent sized fridge which was helpful. Chris was easily accessible and friendly. Thank you for letting us stay.

Overall, this was a great experience. Montauk was very thoughtful and created a comfortable glamping experience. Loved the cute decorations in the tent. We ran into a couple issues such as not being able to locate the campsite, not having hot water for the outdoor shower, and the ignition not working for the gas fire pit. However, it was a great location with great views.

An Amazing Glamping Experience!

Everything about the Montauk site was amazing! The directions to camp were easy to follow, the camp site amenities were exactly what we hoped for, and for our party of seasoned and new campers, it was a perfect overall experience. Our party's two dogs also had an amazing time! Some highlights were the tents themselves (great decor and very comfortable mattresses), the BBQ grill (very useful for cooking dinner), and the bathroom + shower (so clean and easy to use). The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, which sealed the deal on this being a top notch camping experience. Thank you and we can't wait to be back sometime!

Amazing stay at Montauk. It truly is glamping at its finest and the site had a grill, shower, and bathroom. The safari tent was well comfy, and the spot had everything we needed. The propane fire pit at the end of the night was a highlight. Would recommend staying here for the lake/views/glamping experience. Highly recommend renting SUP boards to take in the amazing lake! If you bring dogs -- would try to bring a brush (there are some foxtails around).

What an amazing camp site. Nice tents with beautiful decor and fun games to play. Making food on the grill was super easy, esp with the side burner too. Complementary coffee with french press and creamer was a nice touch. The local soap bars provided smelled divine. The open shower was very unique, where you can enjoy the wildness while showering. There were two hammocks for us to enjoy and nap in. The beach is a short drive away and got to enjoy the water, definitely need some water shoes though.

Porterfield Premiere-2

Pretty easy to find this place and a very drivable dirt road in my SUV. Not a lot of schlepping. I was able to park right next to the RV. I had a nice little RV for just myself and my dog. The stove and sink made it super easy to cook meals. Easy access to a beautiful lake that was surprisingly warm and had a long gradual slope to walk out far into the lake. My dog loved swimming around the lake and watching the herd of cows walk through our campsite every morning. The owners were there on-site a lot of the time working on the property and to help with anything that needs attention. I would definitely ask for the larger RV next time because it has a bit more space and and permanent table to eat at. This seems like a great place to bring groups who want a mix of turnkey glamping, bringing their own Sprinter, and/or tent camping. I was a little surprised to learn the the power outlets in the RV are not active so I could not plug in my computer, which was probably a blessing in disguise. I will be back.

Beautiful Camp, land, & experience

My stay at Montauk far exceeded my expectations. The location was easy to find based on the directions provided and I had no issues driving out to the camp in my long wheelbase Sprinter van. The tents were absolutely perfect, the decor was so warm and inviting that I almost forgot I was sleeping in a tent. The owners are so thoughtful with their preparation, and the s’mores kit was my favorite surprise as I settled in for the evening of rest and relaxation. The faculties were also amazing, with a fully functional toilet and on demand hot water shower this location lacked nothing. The camp is set on a hillside with spanning 180 views of Folsom lake. We found sunset to be remarkably stunning as the light illuminated large boulder outcroppings along the shoreline. Our biggest and best surprise was a visit by one of the local Bald Eagles as it curiously flew overhead at dusk. What an amazing experience throughout. This site has everything and absolutely will not disappoint, I will absolutely be visiting again.
