Love Creek Sanctuary!

Shanna and Garth’s property is a short drive from the city of Grass Valley, and has a large grassy pad for camping with a 30-amp electrical hookup. The pad has beautiful views of the surrounding area, and I was steps away from the barn where they keep alpacas, goats, pigs, chickens, and a horse. Love Creek is a sanctuary where these older animals can live the balance of their lives in a peaceful, caring environment. It was wonderful to wake up every day surrounded by nature! Shanna was super helpful in guiding me in, getting me settled, and sharing stories of their animals.

It was great! Didnt get to spend to much time with all the friendly animals due to a wedding at LOP. Only located 7min down the road. Verry convenient. Shanna is a great host and I look forward to camping there again!!

Camping with animals!

We had a great time staying at Shanna's place. My kids loved the animals and thought it was so cool that they were just walking around. We had a pop-up trailer and were able to hook up to electric or water (we only did electric). There is a small shared bathroom, but probably better if you were self contained. The location is beautiful, and other than the animals making their usual funny sounds, it is a quiet area. They had a BBQ grill we could use, small gas fire pit, and a table and chairs. We only live 1 hour away, so this was a fun experience for us to do for a weekend with the kids!

We had such a great experience at this Hipcamp. The kids absolutely loved the animals—it was easily the highlight of the trip and kept them entertained the entire time. The setting was peaceful and felt like a true getaway. The host struck the perfect balance—very helpful and responsive when we needed anything, but also gave us plenty of space to relax and enjoy our time. That made a big difference. Overall, we would definitely recommend this spot and would happily come back again.

The animals were lovely to see. Campsite really was a piece of grass between the noisy main road, and drive way. No hookups. Electric was via a long 15 amp extension cord to the site. The bathroom and room entry to bathroom were shockingly dirty but fortunately I was self contained. Hosts were very responsive and easy location to get to. Great for a night or two but not really a location to just relax and hang out if that is the vibe you are looking for. With a little more work this could be a very nice place.

It was wonderful waking up to the green fields. The animals were fun to see too. :) However it is true, it is a farm and the animals are pretty noisy especially the peacocks but they will quiet down eventually. instructions and directions were super clear! Everything was so neat and they supplied lots of furniture to sit on and eat. There may be other campers there in trailers which we did not realize since we arrived at night and couldnt see anything so we were super loud and noisy haha.

Me and my husband David really like camping but we get tired of building the tent so I thank Sarah for letting us stayed in her trailer with her free range animals. Feel so away from the stress and keep silent for a while. See you next time.

You Can Feel the Love on this Farm

We loved staying on the farm with all of the rescued animals. We even got to feed them. Our kids loved petting the animals and spending time on the farm. Host Shanna was very welcoming and kind. She even provided us firewood and helped with some electrical issues with our RV. Beautiful sanctuary farm away from the hustle and bustle! We are already looking forward to a return visit in the near future :)

The camp was fun for the kids overall, they enjoyed feeding the animals , the lady was nice and hospitable. Plenty of seating. Picnic tables which needed to be wiped down as the birds get on it looking for food.. My oldest was not fond of the wake up call by all the farm birds lol or the tons of flies constantly sitting on us , I wasn’t so fond of the flies either as they wouldn’t leave me alone, got bit by mosquitos as well. wish there was fly traps and some citronella set up around the tent area, as we forgot our bug spray.. nice shadey area underneath orchard trees, had power, lights, and water to wash off dishes and drink from. However it looked like it could use some maintenance and especially the public restroom was very uncleanly and we needed to clean up around just to not feel so icky coming out of the shower. I mean there was cobwebs and spiders on every single corner of that bathroom and dirt/grime everywhere and hair in the shower. We had to clean up whatever we could with the little paper towel in there but still left some spiders as maybe they like them and think to them as just another “farm animal”? Also the dogs bark (5 of them) at anyone walking by, and just randomly at middle of the night when they go out to potty.. the earplugs I had on didn’t help.. but then for rest of the night the birds and animals are quiet until around 5am Lol anyways with some maintenance and cleanliness it could be a lot better. But we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.

The place needs a little work to be as accommodating as it sounds. It was a beautiful drive, and wonderful animals on site! There are a few things I wish I would have known beforehand -such as: ants, and lack of shade, being the biggest issues for us. On the other hand, Shanna was -extremely- kind and helpful in trying to mitigate the issues that presented themselves. I would return (more prepared) just due to her hospitality and kindness. Thanks Shanna!

The animals are as friendly as the people there that are able to help. Anything troubling was resolved in minutes. Young children that love animals will be very comfortable here. There is a fun barn to peak in, a relaxing garden to ‘watch grow,’ plenty of shade (and sun too depending on your want), and a range of species of birds that seem to know the rules of the property pretty well. The property and amenities offer good and easy access to a fun time inside (the camper) and outside (as soon as you step out the door).

A beautiful property full of beautiful animals; what a pleasure to spend two nights with them! I brought a group of around 30 and there was more than enough space for all of us. Plus it was so convenient to have access to a big basin sink, multiple toilets, multiple grills already equipped with propane, and a hot shower after a day of swimming in the Yuba. Shanna was very welcoming and responsive. I would recommend this experience!

Incredible stay with animals

Shanna was a great host - she greeted us, made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She went out of her way to help us secure the umbrellas for optimal shade during dinner, and answered all our questions about her animals patiently. The animals were the highlight of our stay - we saw alpacas, goats, donkeys, horses, pigs (shout out to Hank the pig), chickens, ducks.. it was such a fun stay and for us to unplug. 10/10 recommend and would love to return some day.
